Jesse “J.C.” Garrett
Jesse “J.C.” Garrett, 86, of Springfield, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Ashland City.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Bethesda Church of God with Elder Robert Childress of Mt. Pleasant Church of God.
Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield.
Mr. Garrett was born Jan. 17, 1917, to the late Elvis and Armenta Garrett.
He received his education in the Robertson County school system.
He was licensed as an embalmer and funeral director in 1951. He worked with Austin & Bell Funeral Home for 37 years.
He united with the Original Church of God at 14th and Phillips Street (now Bethesda), where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board until his health failed.
He loved to fish.
Survivors include his wife, for over 50 years, Viola Crutcher Garrett; two brothers, U.H. (Bertha) Garrett and Bob Garrett; two brothers-in-law, William Crutcher and Luke Jones; seven nephews; six nieces; two godchildren, Glen Armstrong-Bridgewater and Herberene Blair; several grand-godchildren; dear friends, James Elliott, James Armstrong, O.T. Sanders and Maxine Shannon.

Bobby L. Turner
Bobby L. Turner, 67, of Springfield died Nov. 6, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church in Springfield with Rev. Randy Taylor officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Cottontown.
He was born in Cross Plains Sept. 17, 1936, to the late Monday and Mary Lou Turner.
He received his education at Friendship School in Cross Plains.
He united with Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age and later joined Beard’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Male Chorus and Trustee Board.
He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Pattie Turner of Nashville, Ernestine (Duncan) Taylor of White House; three sons, James L. Turner of Cross Plains, Paul (Michelle) and Bobby D. Turner, both of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his wife, Shelvie; two step-daughters, Angela (Ronnie) Utley and Damita Utley; two step-sons, Adrian Utley and Andre Utley, all of Springfield; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; very devoted friend, Rex Turner; two sisters, Gerine Garrett of Louisville, Ky., Shirley Wilson of Springfield; a brother, Lural M. Turner of Hartsville; mother-in-law, Annie May Croney of Springfield; brother-in-law, Samuel Croney; sister-in-law, Cora (Bobby) Finch; and a host of other family and friends.

Ford L. Burns
Ford L. Burns, 55, of Springfield, died at Alvin C. York Veterans Medical Center in Murfreesboro Nov. 8, 2003.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Townsend officiating.
He was the second of six children born to the late Rosetta Brooks Burns and Ford Lewis Burns Sr.
Ford professed a hope in Christ at an early age at True Vine Baptist Church in Indiana. Later in life he joined Community Baptist Church in Springfield.
Ford joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He did two tours in the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death a sister, Sheila Collier.
Survivors include a very special aunt, Vara D. Cole of Springfield; three sisters; two brothers-in-law, Pauletta (James) Benford of Clarksville, Linda Joseph, Anita Gordon of Indianapolis, and Ray Collier of Springfield; two brothers, Donnie R. Burns of Aurora, Colo., and Robert Kendrick of Toledo, Ohio; an aunt, Gale Brooks of Indianapolis; two uncles, Lewis Brooks of Cleveland, Ohio and Clyde Brooks of Washington, D.C.; four nieces; five nephews; and a host of friends.

Kathryn L. Dowlen
Kathryn L. Dowlen, died at birth, Nov. 8, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Cross Plains with Rev. Buise McKissick and Rev. Billy Brown officiating.
Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery in Cross Plains.
Survivors include parents, Michael A. Dowlen and Amanda F. Dowlen; grandparents, Linda Denton, Billy (Joani) Brown, both of Portland, Michael Dowlen Sr. of Cross Plains, and Gloria (Freddie) Moore of Orlinda; three sisters, Alexadrea Rickman, Kayla Dowlen, Ajaiona Dowlen, all of Springfield; a host of aunts, uncles and very devoted friends and family.

Felisa Barbee
Felisa Barbee, 43, of Springfield, died at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Memorial services were held Monday at 1 p.m. at Banks United Methodist Church Chapel with Rev. Dobbins officiating.
Burial followed at Banks United Methodist Church Chapel.
Survivors include two daughters, Reshanta Hardin of Madison and Dennika Barbee of Springfield; four brothers, Terry, Stacy and Mark of Springfield, and Kenneth of Nashville; mother, Joan Hardin of Springfield; four grandchildren.

Willie Wilson
Willie Wilson, 73, of Springfield died Nov. 12, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include a devoted cousin, V.E. Parham of Springfield; a host of other cousins and friends.

Tiffany Lavonne Williams
Tiffany Lavonne Gardner Williams, 29, died Nov. 9, 2003, in California.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. at Greater South Baptist Church in Springfield, with Rev. Samuel Stratton officiating.
Interment followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Cedar Hill.
Mrs. Williams was born March 3, 1974, to Janet Gardner Woodard. She was educated in the schools of Robertson County and was homecoming queen during her senior year at Springfield High School.
After graduation, she attended college in Huntsville, Ala. She was employed for several years at Collins & Aikmen while in Springfield and was employed at New Century Title Co. after moving to California.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Kimbroughs, who was born June 29, 1993.
