Harry Gerald Close
Harry Gerald “Jerry” Close, 77, of Cross Plains, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Roy C. Lamberth and Rev. Ron Stroupe officiating.
The interment followed in the Cross Plains Cemetery.
Mr. Close was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Fresno, Calif., to the late Harry Gibson and Gladys Brown Close.
He was the retired owner and operator of The Mower Shop in Springfield and was a professional musician for over 35 years.
Mr. Close was a charter member of Trinity Fellowship Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force where he served in World War II.
Mr. Close is survived by his wife, Tonye Close of Cross Plains; a daughter, Vickey Bratton of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a brother, Frank Close of Lancing; a sister, Gladys Shimel of California; grandchildren, Scott Palmer and Robert D. Brandsma.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Florence L. Poole
Florence L. Poole, 89, of Springfield, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Oakley officiating.
The interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Poole was born Feb. 25, 1914, in Robertson County to the late Ed and Mary Elizabeth Anderson.
She was a retired bookkeeper from French Cleaners and was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Poole is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Poole.
Survivors include a son, Harry A. Poole of Springfield; a brother, Edward Anderson of Goodlettsville; a sister, Ann Dozier of Springfield; special niece, Linda Corbin of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Ray
Kenneth “Kenny” Ray, 45, of Springfield, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Clay County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Frank Gagliano and Mark Stiles officiating.
Interment followed in Clementsville Cemetery in Clay County.
Mr. Ray was born Feb. 15, 1958, in Davidson County.
He was a truck driver for Hogan Trucking Co. and was a Baptist.
Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his father, Bascom Ray.
Survivors include his mother, Alice Taylor Ray of Springfield; sisters, Barbara Ray of Springfield and Sylvia Stiles of Athens, Ga.; three nieces and two nephews.

Mamie Louise Gentry
Mamie Louise Gentry, 88, of Springfield, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 15 (today) at 2 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
The interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Gentry was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Robertson County to the late Horace and Neva Gentry Edwards.
She was a retired inspector from Springfield Woolen Mill and a member of the North Springfield Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Gentry, a son, Thomas Allen Gentry, and by her brother, Jewell Edwards.
Survivors include her grandson, Brady Gentry and wife, Wendy of Portland; great-grandchildren, Haylee and Weston Gentry of Portland.
Robertson County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Joseph L. Hillard
Joseph L. Hillard, 74, of St. Louis, Mo., died Oct. 3, 2003, at Jewish Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 11, at Beard’s Chapel in Springfield, with Rev. Randy Taylor officiating.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two brothers, James Hillard of Springfield and Henry Hillard of Greenbelt, Md.; four sisters, Geneva Residine of Cross Plains, Faye Holmes of Springfield, Barbara Thomas and Eva Smith, both of Indianapolis, Ind.
Parham Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
Gary “O.J.” Edison
Gary “O. J,” Edison, 16, of Franklin, Ky., died in an automobile accident at Gold City Road in Franklin, Ky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. at Townsend Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James Glover officiating.
Burial followed at Townsend Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include a brother, Josh Downey of Franklin, Ky., a step-brother, Cameron Mason of Adairville, Ky.; four sisters, Camille and Chelce Edison of Franklin, Ky., Kayla Todd of Russellville, Ky., and Kiesha Downey of Franklin, Ky.; parents, Gary Edison Sr. of Bowling Green, Ky., and mother, Rita Downey and step-father, Keith Downey of Franklin, Ky.

Ruby Rose Mallory Duck
Ruby Rose Mallory Duck, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003.
Graveside services were conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 in Woodlawn Memorial Park with Dr. Jon Roebuck of Woodmont Baptist Church officiating.
Pallbearers were Alan McCampbell Jr., Russell James, Ralph Fox, Brett Gunn, Trey McCampbell and John Huddleston.
She was a member of Echo Park United Methodist Church, Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elder and W. Rose Mallory, and her husband, O’Donnell C. Duck.
Survivors include John M. (Judy) Duck of Las Vegas, Nev., James C. Duck, Broomfield, Colo., and Jeffrey W. (Bita) Duck of Los Angeles, Calif.; a granddaughter, Dana (Michael) Lombardi; four great-grandchildren; step-granddaughter, Windy Ritchie; and two step-great-granddaughters; a brother, Jesse D. (Edna) Mallory; sisters, Mary Derryberry and Martha Hill, of Nashville; four nieces; a nephew; several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
