Virginia Head Nichols
Virginia Head Nichols, 91, of Chapmansboro, died at Gateway Medical Center Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.
Funeral services were held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield Monday, Sept. 15 with Rev. Ben Jordan officiating.
Burial followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Nichols was born Nov. 30, 1911, in Robertson County, to the late Emmett and Mary Francis Ellis Head.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Nichols, two brothers, James Ray Head and Willard Freeman Head.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Larry and Jean K. Nichols Sr. of Beaver Dam, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Opal N. and S. Douglas Shearon of Chapmansboro; a grandson, Charles Larry and and Denise Nichols Jr. of Springfield; two great-grandchildren; a brother F.E. Head of Adams; a sister, Bernice Dickens of Springfield.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church since 1930.
The family requests memorials be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, or to Cheatham County Public Library, or Brewer’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

John Joseph Koval Jr.
John Joseph Koval Jr., 45, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.
Memorial services were conducted Friday , Sept. 19 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steven Lee officiating.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, John and Betty Koval of White House; his mother, Nancy Haden; sister, Mary Hale-McCoy of Goodlettsville; a brother, Mark Koval of Texas; nieces and nephew, Natlie Hale, Cortney McCoy, and Michael McCoy Jr.

Mildred Adams
Mildred Yates-Jackson Adams, 83, died at NorthCrest Medical Center on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Oakley and Dr. David Leavell officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Adams was a graduate from the University of South Carolina, where she received a degree in education.
She was retired from the Robertson County School Systems where she taught both at North Robertson and Cheatham Park Schools.
She was born in Spartanburg, S.C. May 13, 1920, to the late Dr. Walter and May Nanney Yates Sr.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Walter Yates Jr. and her husbands, Herbert Jackson, Rayburn S. Jackson and Edward W. Adams Jr.
Survivors include three daughters, and son-in-law, Janice and Ronnie Meador, Jennifer Jackson, all of Springfield, and Ann Page Jackson of Goodlettsville; two grandchildren, Courtney Meador of Memphis and Kelly and Daniel Elwing of Portland, Ore.; and a sister-in-law, Faye Yates.
Pallbearers for the service were Robert Ralston, Bill Pitt, Jack Freeman, Gary Keyt, David Bolton and Davis Fiser.
Mrs. Adams was a member of Springfield Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made in her memory to the building fund.

Brenda Kay Jones
Brenda Kay Jones, 55, of Springfield, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003.
Funeral services were conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield Saturday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. with Bro. Jack Fry officiating.
Interment followed in Greenbrier Cemetery.
She was born in Springfield Jan. 26, 1948, to Eddie Lawrence and Annie Ethel Woodard Hulsey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Jean Hulsey.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar Benton Jones of Springfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Kathy Jones of Adams, Oscar and Della Jones of Springfield, and David and Tracy Jones of Springfield; four brothers, Roger Hulsey, Jerry Hulsey, both of Springfield, Billy Hulsey of Nashville, and Jimmy Hulsey of Dayton, Ohio; four sisters, Ruby Didanato, Charlene Farmer, both of Springfield, Bea Spain of Nashville, and Hilda Agougia of New York; a daughter-in-law, Lisa York; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service were Lt. Charles Hilliard, Det. Richard Head, Sgt. Tom Ryan, Sgt. Jerry Long, EMS Trey Cook, Officer Eric Putman and Deputy Wayne Carlisle.

Linda Sue Scott Mayes
Linda Sue Mayes, 51, of Springfield, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 in Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Calloway officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens, next to her daughter, Pattie.
She was born April 20, 1952, in Overton County to the late William and Ivy Andrew Scott.
Mrs. Mayes was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and worked in management at Wal Mart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Pattie Nash, five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis T. Mayes of Springfield; daughters, Pennye Staley of Springfield, and Sue Ellen Jacobs of Adairville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Charles Brooks
Charles Brooks, 82, of Springfield, died Sept. 4, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. at V.E. Parham Memorial Chapel with Rev. McKissick officiating.
Burial followed at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Charles Foster Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Charlene Brooks of Nashville and Candy Pope of Springfield; three sisters, Minnie Coleman of Cleveland, Ohio and Emma Groves of Cross Plains and Ruth Britton of Nashville.

James H. Gregory
James H. Gregory of Cedar Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Roy Copeland officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Sharon Cemetery in Robertson County.
Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Johnson, Randy Lanley, James Croslin, Jeff Baker, Tom Guill, and James Bragdon.
Survivors include his mother, Vergie Floyd of Ashland City; sons, Bobby (Alice) Chandler of Pleasant View, and J.R. Gregory of Ashland City; daughters, Charlene Gregory of Clarksville and Lisa Gregory of Pleasant View and Crystal Gregory of Nashville; a brother, Jeff Gregory of LaVergne; sisters, Carolyn Repath of Nashville and Charlene Russell of LaVergne, and Gonnie Guill of Clarksville.
