Ricky Lane Barrow
Ricky Lane Barrow, 50, died suddenly at NorthCrest Medical Center Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003.
Funeral services were held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier Saturday, Aug. 30 with Bro. Paul Baggett Sr. and Bro. Joe Rushing officiating.
The interment followed at Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Barrow was employed at Nashville Recycling Center as a truck driver.
He was born in Robertson County on Sept. 2, 1952, to the late Lesley and Dorothy Jean Elmore Barrow. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Barrow.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Barrow of Greenbrier; two sons, David Barrow of La Vergne and Michael Barrow of Greenbrier; a daughter, Tracie R. Duffer of Springfield; five grandchildren; brothers, Edward Barrow, Gary Barrow, Milton Barrow, all of Springfield, Dennis Barrow of Adams; sisters, Rita Noe and Karen Brown, both of Springfield.
Pallbearers for the service were Kenneth Adams, Jason Martin Chris Baker, Adam Duffer, Randall Duffer, Cory Hawn, Curtis Holland and Billy Ray Barrow Jr.
Austin & Bell Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
Susie B. Hackney
Susie B. “Momma Sue” Hackney died Aug. 30, 2003.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3 (today) at 10 a.m. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
She was born in 1924 to Claude and Viona Hackney at Price’s Mill, Ky., the youngest of eight children.
Mrs. Hackney spent her life taking care of others’ needs and loving people because they were God’s children.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stephanie Taylor; and a sister, Nettie Britt.
Survivors include six children; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Tommy Shelton Traughber
Tommy Shelton Traughber, 42, of Adairville, Ky., died suddenly Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Logan Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Adairville with Bro. Junior Baldwin and Bro. Junior England officiating.
Interment followed in Berea Cemetery.
Mr. Traughber was born in Adairville on March 20, 1961, to the late Thomas Traughber and Barbara Dale Beatty.
He was self-employed.
Survivors are his foster-mother, Alma Shelton Yates of Adairville, Ky.; half-brothers, Rick Tooley of Adairville, Ky., and Frank Tooley of Hermitage.

Hazel Rebecca Sneed
Hazel Rebecca Sneed, 85, of Orlinda, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Elm Hurst Nursing Home.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Milldale Chapel with Rev. Stan Campbell and Rev. Greg Love officiating.
The interment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sneed was born June 13, 1918, in Robertson County to the late Elmer Otto and Vergie Mae Lane Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of Orlinda Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sneed is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Morris Sneed, a son, Roger Dale Sneed and a daughter, Sherry Lee Sneed.
Survivors include sons, Bobby Dean Sneed of Springfield; R.L. Sneed of Orlinda, Bill Sneed or Portland, and Ricky Sneed of Springfield; daughters, Charlotte Belt of Springfield, Betty Trotter of White House, Carolyn Jernigan of White House, Sue Freeman of Greenbrier, Diane Roberts of Franklin, Ky., Kay Pitt of Orlinda; a sister, Zella Smith of Orlinda; 30 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

John T. Dickerson
John Thomas Dickerson, 70, of Springfield, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Taylor of Beards Chapel Baptist Church officiating.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill.
Mr. Dickerson was born Aug. 12, 1933, to the late Joe Henery Dickerson and Louise Dickerson of Springfield.
He professed hope in Christ at an early age at Fairview Baptist Church under the late Rev. Fisher, where Rev. George L. Wells is the pastor.
He served on the deacon board for many years and sang in the choir.
He was affiliated with Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Beards Chapel and Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He was a quiet man with a loving smile.
He was a father, grandfather, a friend, and most of all, a child of God.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Dickerson; a sister-in-law, Katherine Dickerson, brother-in-law, George Babb, a sister, Brenda Dickerson, a brother, Bobby Dickerson, and a son, Danny T. Dickerson.
Survivors include three sons, Roger V. (Beverly) Dickerson of Springfield, Rev. Marvin W. Dickerson, John H. Dickerson (Littie) of Russellville, Ky.; three daughters, Janie L. (Rev. Quinton) Yates, Deborah L. (Willie) Mason of Springfield and Jackie S. (Rev. Randy) Taylor of Franklin, Ky.; an adopted daughter, Delia Sneed of Springfield; two adopted grandchildren, Catherine and Jackie Sneed of Springfield; three brothers, George of Springfield, Joe B. (Loraine) Dickerson of Detroit, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Geraldine (Henery) Watts, Rosie Mae Babb; three brothers-in-law, John H. (Bertha) Henry, Cecil (Angie) Henry and Jessie (Dorothy) Henry; 36 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild; an adopted niece, Connie (Pete) Rapp of Greenwood, S.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Wallace and Bobby Carr.

Maggie Lee Polk Washington
Maggie Lee “Mama Mag” Polk Washington died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Quinton Yates Sr. and Rev. Martin P. Winslow officiating.
Burial followed at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Springfield.
She was born March 27, 1904, to John Polk and Mary Lewis Polk.
She married Bobbie Washington March 13, 1921.
She joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully until her health failed. She served as President of Mother’s Board and Missionary Society.
She is preceded in death by four children, Edna, John, James and Lewis Washington.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Trotter Callie (Rev. George) Wells, Ethel Taylor of Springfield, Cora (Joe) Wells of Adairville, Ky., and Fayola (William) Wells of Russellville, Ky.; four sons, Amos Washington of Evansville, Ind., Bob (Shirley) Washington of Nashville, William (Dorothy Sue) Washington of Indianapolis, Ind. Richard (Ruthie) Washington of Paducah, Ky.; 29 grandchildren; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Annie Mae Shed; two nephews, Billy Dowlen, Emerson Dowlen; devoted niece, Georgia Mae Baker; devoted great-nephew, John Baker Jr.; and a host of relatives and friends.

Virgina Brooks
Virginia May Feight Brooks, 68, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, at home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 28 at Kurtz Funeral Home, Jarrettsville, Md., with Pastor Jeff Berg officiating.
Burial followed in Mt. Vernon Methodist Cemetery White Hall, Md.
She was born May 6, 1935, in Juniata, Pa., to the late Simeon Russell Feight and Maybelle Ellis Feight.
She was a teacher for 20 years at Harford Christian School in Dublin, Md.
She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth A. Brooks Sr.; sons, Kenneth A. Brooks Jr. of Manhattan, Kan., Dennis Brooks and David Brooks, both of Conowingo, Md., and James Brooks of Springfield; daughters, Deborah Miller of White Hall, Md., Judy Cobb of Cedar Hill and Barbara Tittel of Conowingo, Md.; sisters Rhonda Jackson of Quarryville, Pa., Judy Akin of Seminole, Fla.; brothers, Robert Feight of Springfield, Ray Feight of Waco, Texas, and Samuel Feight of Arizona; and 24 grandchildren.
