Elisabeth Trowbridge Meyer
Elisabeth Trowbridge Meyer, 90, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003.
Her remains were cremated and private memorial services will be conducted in September.
Miss Meyer was born June 12, 1913, in Pittsburg, Pa., to the late John D. and Lucille Trowbridge Meyer.
She was a graduate of Oberlin College, and received a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburg.
She was a former teacher at McMurray College, and was retired from Illinois College.
She played violin for many years in the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
She is survived by brothers, John D. Meyer of California, and George William Meyer of Minnesota; sisters, Jean White of Springfield, and Lucille Hutchins of Seattle, Wash.
Robertson County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Dan Walters
Dan Walters, 71, of Cross Plains, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at Mt Carmel Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Owen officiating.
The interment followed in the Dixon Springs Cemetery in Carthage.
Mr. Walters was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Jacksonville, Ga. to the late Daniel Edward and Bessie Hewlett Walters.
He was a retired produce director for C.B. Ragland Company.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his son, Dan Walters Jr. and by his brother, Wilbur Morris Walters.
Survivors include his wife, Ovella Sutton Walters of Cross Plains; sons, David Walters of Cross Plains and Terry Walters of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Carol Walters Ray of Hendersonville; step-children, Robert Rader of Nashville, Rita Smith of Cross Plains; a brother, Ted Walters of Texas; a sister, Dorothy Fitzgerald of Cordele, Ga.; grandchildren, Rachel Walters, Michael Howell, Heather Morris, Christopher Smith, Shane Walters Jackson, and Elizabeth Raler; two great-grandchildren.

Edith Johnson
Edith Johnson died at her residence Monday, Aug, 18, 2003.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier on Tuesday, Aug. 19 with Bro. Jack Evans officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Robertson County on Feb. 19, 1914, to the late J.O. and Ethel Dorris Johnson.
She is also preceded in death by a brother, James C. Johnson.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Rebecca Johnson; nieces, Janice Johnson, Tammy and Jim Perko; great-niece, Meagan Hobbs and a great-nephew, Thomas Perko.
Pallbearers were Bob Edmonds, David Glenn, Kitty Bedwell, James McQuiston, Harvey Majors and Tom Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers were the Keenagers of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

William Lionel Brewer
William Lionel “Buddy” Brewer, 85, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003, at his home in Lamont Community of Robertson County after a long illness.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, May 14 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert Korzyniowski and Bro. A.T. Pate officiating.
Family and friends served as pallbearers,
Interment will follow at Mapel Hill Cemetery in Portland.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Wilson Brewer; a daughter Linda (Wayne) Wells; sons, James (Janie), Johnnie (Dawn), Roger (Sonia) Brewer; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Gezley
Jimmy Gezley, 68, died at NorthCrest Medical Center Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home Tuesday, Aug. 19 with Rev. John Poston officiating.
Interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gezley was retired and a former member of the Tennessee National Guard.
He was born in Springfield July 29, 1935, to the late James Roosevelt Gezley and to Sally Mae Adams Richards of Springfield.
In additon to his father, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Castelow Gezley.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie Lee and Lydia Gezley of Springfield and Jimmy J. and Debbie Gezley of Greenbrier; a half-sister, Nannie Lou Cruise of Springfield.

Billy Joe Roberts
Billy Joe Roberts, 76, of Round Rock, Texas and formerly of White House, died Sunday, Aug. 10 at Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, Aug. 15 at 11:30 a.m. with James Sadler and Forest Creekmore officiating.
Friends and family served as pallbearers.
The interment followed at Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Brinkley Roberts; a son, Mark Overman; sisters, Olivia Roberts Loftis and Sue Roberts Wheeler; a brother, Donald Roberts; and four grandchildren.

Joseph Hudson
Joseph Hudson, 73, of Springfield, died Aug. 13, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at Second Grove CME Church in White House with Rev. Ben Williams officiating.
Burial followed at Second Grove Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Castellia Jernigan.
He was born Feb. 24, 1930 to the late V.C. Hudson and Rosetta Hutchinson Hudson.
Survivors include his wife, Marva Hudson; a daughter, Vera Hudson; two brothers, Charles and Robert Lee Hudson; two sons, Billy Joe Hudson and Tyrone Hudson; two daughters, Beverly (Ricky) Turner, Martha (Broderick) Smith; three step-children, Victor Hines, Anthony Swoopes; a step-daughter, Connie Baker; four sisters, Wilma Dean Jones, Maggie Lee Ridley, Eva Nell Robertson, Cordia Bryant; a brother, Calvin Hudson; a brother-in-law, Paul (Marie) Fry, 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and a devoted friend, Estella Tallie.
