Hubert Jewell Williams
Hubert Jewell Williams, 82, died July 28, 2003.
Funeral services were Wednesday, July 30 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Greenbrier at 10 a.m.
He remains were cremated.
He was born on Sept. 22, 1920, in Robertson County to the late John Thomas and Callie Eidson Williams.
Mr. Williams is retired from the maintenance department with Wilson Sporting Goods in Springfield after serving in the Air Force for 22 years.
He survived the Bataan Death March with four of his service years being held as a prisoner of war in a Japanese prison camp.
Survivors include his wife, Annabelle Callis Williams of Greenbrier; sons, James “Jim” and Eileen Williams of White House, Robert (Bob) Williams of Greenbrier, Donald Wayne “Butch” and Alvietti Williams of Ashland City, Richard Lynn “Rick” and Molly Williams of Hendersonville, and Charles Lee “Chuck” and Angela Williams of Murfreesboro and daughter-in-law, Susan Williams of Greenbrier; three sisters, Lucille Abernathy of Hendersonville, Audrey Anderson of Nashville and Lois Watts of Greenbrier; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William Douglas Cherry
William Douglas Cherry, 62, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Hendersonville Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with Bro. Kyle Slater officiating.
Mr. Cherry was born in Stewart County to the late William Lowery Cherry and to Maude Alice Norfleet Cherry of Goodlettsville, who survives her son.
He was retired from Textron where he worked as a tool and die maker.
Mr. Cherry is survived by two sons, Stan (Rhonda) Cherry of Hendersonville, David (Ann Marie) Cherry of Franklin; one daughter, Leda Lynn McClain of White House, one sister, Kathy Rippy of Ridgetop; none grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens.

Bryce Simmons
Bryce Simmons, 84 of Cottontown, died July 30, 2003.
Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Lamberth officiating.
Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Robertson County to Duke and Lela Covington Simmons.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Simmons and wife, Shirley of Cottontown; sisters, Dorothy Bennifield of Mississippi, Peggy Rainwater and Margaret Clark, both of Springfield; a brother, Wilburn Simmons of Cadiz, Ky.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Clarence William Travis
Clarence William Travis, 90, died on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in White House at 1 p.m. with Bro. Clay Baggett officiating.
Interment followed in White House Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Stephen Kenyon, Jimmy Kenyon, Tommy Kenyon, Dale Boyer Jr., Scott Boyer and Thomas Boyer.
Mr. Travis is survived by his daughter, Sharon Boyer; sons, Harold Brian Travis and Dennis Charles Travis; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Jeanette Fisher Abrams
Ruth Jeanette Fisher Abrams, 61, of Nashville, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3 in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rhonda Mayo and Darryl Manias officiating.
Interment followed in the Orlinda Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Robertson County to the late Haywood and Mary Reed Denning Fisher.
She attended Cross Roads Baptist Church and was an Insurance Claims Adjuster for BB&T Insurance Services.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Fisher and Danny Fisher.
Mrs. Abrams is survived by a son, Dwayne Scott Hallman of Nashville; sisters, Carolyn Aldridge of Greenbrier, and Dianne Manias of Louisville, Ky.; several nephews and nieces.

Carl Jason Robertson
Carl Jason Robertson, 25, of Greenbrier, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at his place of work in Ridgetop.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the South Haven Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Gagliano and Pastor Mitchell Buck officiating.
The interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Jason was born March 25, 1978, in Roberson County.
He was the manager of Shrum Auto Salvage, a member of the South Haven Baptist Church, and a member of the Tobacco Belt Regional Antique Car Club.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George E. Robertson, Joe Gilbert Wilson, Edward and Dorothy Lee Jones.
Jason is survived by his wife, Annette Shrum Robertson of Greenbrier; son, Justin Luke Robertson of Greenbrier; daughter, Kelsea Lin Robertson of Greenbrier; parents, Carl E. and Vickie Wilson Robertson of Springfield; sister, Victoria Ann Robertson of Greenbrier; grandmother, Annie Ruth Wilson of Springfield and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Walter Lee Beardslee
Walter Lee Beardslee, 73, of Greenbrier, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Baptist Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 31, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. Millard Reed and Dr. Gary Heneeke officiating,
The interment followed in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Beardslee was born April 12, 1930, in Elmira, N.Y., to the late Grant and Doris Bush Beardslee.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served in the Cuban Crisis, Korean War and Vietnam.
Mr. Beardslee was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Nashville, where he was a faithful member of the Becomer’s Sunday School class.
He was preceded in death by his son, Grant E. Beardslee; his brother, Donald Beardslee; and a grandchild, Jessica Stevens.
Mr. Beardslee is survived by his wife, Jeannine Beardslee of Greenbrier; sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Betty Beardslee of Hendersonville, Todd and JoAnn Beardslee of Springfield; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Richard Stevens of Arapahoe, N.C.; grandchildren, Amy Medana, Justin Beardslee, Benjamin and Joel Stevens, Ashton Beardslee; great-grandchild, Spencer Grant Medana; several nieces and nephews.
