Gordon Davis Burnette
Gordon Davis Burnette, 64, of Springfield, died Friday, July 11, 2003.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 13 at 4 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Deweese and Dr. Tommy Crunk officiating.
The interment followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mr. Burnette was born Jan. 4, 1939, in Robertson County to the late James Thomas and Martha Ann Spurlock Burnette.
He was a retired maintenance worker from Peterbilt and was a Baptist.
Mr. Burnette was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Burnette, and by his sisters, Estelle Head and Flossie Estes.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Owens Burnette of Springfield; a son, Scott Burnette of Cedar Hill; daughters, Debbie Baggett of Clarksville, Janice Mantlo of Orlinda, Sarah Burnette of Springfield; brothers, Dalton Burnette of Springfield, and Billy Burnette of Adairville, Ky.; sisters, Earline Gregory of Springfield and Dorothy West of Seymour, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Haleigh Grace Ryan
Haleigh Grace Ryan, 6-week-old infant, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 14 at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Woodard officiating.
The interment followed in Hopewell Cemetery.
Haleigh was born June 3, 2003, in Davidson County.
Survivors include her parents, Jacob and Jennifer Sartin Ryan of Springfield; a sister, Madison Ryan of Springfield; grandparents, Tom and Sue Ryan of Cross Plains, David and Leigh Sartin of White House; great-grandparents, Robert and Louise Ryan of Cross Plains, Hazel Smith of Springfield; David and Martha Moore of Hendersonville, and Charlotte Sartin of Greenbrier; several aunts and uncles.

Billy M. Lee
Billy M. Lee, 73, of Springfield, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 14 at 2 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Nixon and Van McCormack officiating.
Interment followed in Mt. Sharon Cemetery.
Mr. Lee was born Oct. 1, 1929, in Robertson County to the late Arthur and Mary Lorene Ruffin Lee.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Lee was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Taylor Lee of Springfield; daughters, Doye Worrell and Vivian Milam, both of Springfield; a brother, Robert E. Lee of Springfield; sisters, Mary Bell Lee of Springfield and Daisy M. Traughber of Cedar Hill; and grandchildren, Matthew W. and Tiffany Lee Milam, both of Springfield.

Ben Cleveland Sloan
Ben Cleveland Sloan, 82, of Springfield, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 15 at 4 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Tim Harris officiating.
The interment followed in Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Sloan was born March 8, 1921, in Jackson County to the late Wiley Stanton and Mattie Wilson Sloan.
He was retired from Genesco and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Mr. Sloan was a World War II veteran, where he served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hilman, Woodrow, Odell, Tom, Mack, William, and Ross Sloan, and by sisters, Velsie Sloan and Florene Ryan.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Johnson Sloan of Springfield; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert Sloan and Don and Susie Sloan, all of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Glenn Harris of Springfield, Linda and Anthony Fizer of Ashland City, and Diane Sloan of Springfield; grandchildren, Jeff Fizer, Tammy Fizer Wemyss, Drew, Robert and Alex Sloan, Holly Fox Green, Kyle, Zach and Brian Graves; great-grandchildren, Emily Fizer, Benjamin Fizer, Eli Wemyss, and Sarah Green.

Wiley Obie Arnold
Wiley Obie Arnold, 71, of Adams, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Whitehaven Nursing Home.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 15 at 10 a.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Downing officiating.
The interment followed in the Bellwood Cemetery.
Mr. Arnold was born June 6, 1932, in Cheatham County to the late Cecil F. and Rosa Toler Arnold.
He was a retired mechanic and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Arnold; brother, Bobby Arnold, and a sister, Marie Arnold.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Lee Arnold of Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Arnold of Springfield, Robert and Debbie Mitchell of Greenbrier, Randy and Tammy Mitchell of Cedar Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Harbert of Adams; brothers, C.F. Arnold of Nashville, Hardin Arnold of Adams, Dean Arnold of Adams, Eddie Arnold of Springfield; and eight grandchildren.

Rev. Ronald L. Quarles
Rev. Ronald Lee Quarles, 54, died July 11, 2003.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 14 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Cheatham Street, Springfield with Rev. Martin P. Winslow.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Cedar Hill.
He was born July 1, 1949, in Trenton, Ky., son of Allen Quarles Sr. and Juanita Lowe Quarles.
He accepted a hope in Christ at an early age and joined a church in Kentucky.
Rev. Quarles received a degree in social work. He also served his country in the Army, as well as six years in the Navy.
Rev. Quarles answered his call to the ministry and was licensed and ordained to preach at First Baptist Church, Springfield under the late Rev. W.J. Speed.
He accepted the call to his first and only church, Berry Baptist Church, where he pastored for over 10 years until his health caused him to leave. He continued to be a faithful member at First Baptist as long as his health would allow.
He is preceded in death by a son, Michael Quarles.
Survivors include his wife, Ivory Jean Quarles, a faithful son, Marcus of Springfield; two grandsons, Joshua and Joseph Quarles; a granddaughter, Amber Quarles of Nalshville; father, Allen Quarles Sr.; five brothers, Joe Quarles, Allen Quarles Jr., Richard Quarles, George Quarles and Robert Quarles, devoted father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Woodard Gardner; five brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Levi Atkins
Levi Atkins, 75, of Springfield died Tuesday July 8, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 11 at 1 p.m. at Keysburg Baptist Church, Keysburg, Ky.
Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Cedar Hill.
He professed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Bells Chapel Baptist Church, and later he joined Keysburg Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Leo Utley.
He was president of the B.T.U. and remained loyal to his church until his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James (Doc) and Annie Atkins, and a son.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Chambers Atkins; two sons, Charles (Sue) Atkins, Larry (Brenda) Atkins of Adairville, Ky.; four daughters, Claudia (Leroy) Ellis, Annie (Victor) Fort, Sandra Turnley, Ruth (Bobby) Burns, all of Springfield; a son, Levi Coey Lamar; a brother James (Gracie) Atkins; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
