John “Johnny” Underwood, age 82, of Rockvale died Friday, May 21, 2004 following an extended illness.
A native of Rutherford County, Mr. Underwood was a son of the late Ernest Mitchell and Flora Mae Beasley Underwood. Mr. Underwood was an employee of Radiation Protection Products of Chapel Hill with 19 years of service. He was a member of the Rockvale First Independent Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Dan Underwood.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Walls Underwood, of Rockvale; sons Bryan Underwood and Brad Underwood of Rockvale; sisters Martha Holden, Judy Hill, and Marsha Currey of Murfreesboro; Wanda Walls of Rockvale; Tina Smithson of Franklin; brother Tim Underwood of Murfreesboro; grandson Andrew Scott Underwood; aunts Mrs. John D. Hendrix of Murfreesboro and Mrs. Mattie Harper of Madison, TN.

Tassie Pruitt Bolden, age 78, of Eagleville died Friday, May 14, 2004 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Bolden and a daughter, Bonnie Sue Bolden.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Bowman of Eagleville; sons Ben Bolden of Eagleville and William Bolden of Unionville; sister Mrs. Alline McCall of Eagleville; brothers Raymond Pruitt of Goodlettsville; Will Pruitt, Jr. of Council Bluff, IA; Benton Pruitt of Antioch and Alton Pruitt of Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Bolden was a homemaker and member of the Eagleville Baptist Church.

Thelma Geanne Crowell Scales, age 95, of Shelbyville died Monday, May 10, 2004 in Marietta, GA following an extended illness.
A native of Bedford County, Mrs. Scales was the daughter of the late Emmett Allen Crowell and Sally Ann Parson Crowell.
She is survived by sons Sam Allen Scales of Marietta, GA and Barry Scales of Franklin, TN; brother Sam Crowell of Shelbyville, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, a retired Home Economics and Math teacher at the former Bethesda High School in Williamson County and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.

William Harrison Mosley, age 82, of Eagleville died Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
A native of Rutherford County, Mr. Mosley was the son of the late James Horace and Emma Luevine Agent Mosley. He was a deacon of Eagleville Baptist Church and retired from the Baptist Sunday School Board. He also was retired from Ragland Potter Groceries as a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Perrell Mosley; daughter Judy Carol Mosley Frost of Murfreesboro; granddaughter Andrea (Kenny) Cain of Murfreesboro; and great-grandson Gavin Cain.

Gladys Wheeler Farris, 81, of the Rover community of Bedford County died Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Farris was a native of Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Amos and Effie Davis Wheeler. She was a homemaker and former manager of the Fabric Center of Shelbyville. Her hobby was family history and genealogy. Mrs. Farris was a member of the Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Hank Wheeler Bryant.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Fount Farris of the Rover community; daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and Paul Nelson of Chattanooga and Debbie and Willie Bryant of the Rover community; sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Jim Murphy, of Tullahoma; grandchildren Cliff Nelson, Megan Nelson, David and Amanda Bryant and Clint Bryant; and great-grandchildren Austin Bryant and Jaxson Bryant.

Edward Francis Morgan, 58, of Rockvale died Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at National Health Care.
A native of Rutherford County, Mr. Morgan was the son of William F. “Bill” and Frankie Kathleen Edwards Morgan, both of Rockvale. He lived in Mattoon, Ill., from 1972-1983, worked for Kraft Foods and was an employee of AEDC. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite. He attended East Main Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Gail Avaritt Morgan of Rockvale; son Brian Morgan of Rockvale; daughter Melissa (Tony) Langeland of Murfreesboro; sisters Billie Faye (Larry) Johns, of the Rover community and Betty (Johnny) Elizando of Roswell, N.M.; and grandchildren Grace Langeland and Tess Langeland.

Richard Paul Ramirez, Jr., age 46 of Rockvale, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010. A native of Kansas City, Kansas. He is survived by his son, Rayan Ramirez of Woodbury; mother and step father, Carmen (Larry) Griggs of KA; father and step mother, Richard (Mildred) Ramirez Sr. of Murfreesboro; three brothers, Patrick (Angie) Ramirez, James Ramirez and Larry Griggs all of KS; many nieces and nephews.

Lillian L. Colby, of Signal Mountain, died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Alexian Village. A native of Eagleville, she was the widow of Fred W. Colby and a daughter of the late George K. and Flora Jackson Lowe. A retired school teacher she had taught at Signal Mountain and Thrasher Elementary Schools. She graduated from Eagleville High School and the University of Tennessee. She was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church and Delta Cappa Gamma Alpha Chapter. She was involved in local and state level childhood education. An extensive traveler she became interested in a chinese family and brought a young student to Chattanooga and sponsored him, where he graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She worked with a Chattanooga group who chose Wuxi, China as a sister city. She had a special interest in Cadek Conservatory and the Chattanooga Symphony and the Hosanna Community. A special thanks are extended to Catherine Colby and Sarah Wilhite and the many caregivers at Alexian Village. Survivors include a sister, Mary Ellen Cannon of Mount Dora, Fla.; nine nieces and nephews including Edward McClelland of Richardson, TX.
Dean Cole, age 80, of Murfreesboro, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Williamson Medical Center. Mr. Cole was born in Agra, Kansas to the late Alanison Everette and Hulda Viola Cole. He worked for the Tennessee Baptist Home and was the Middle Tennessee Coordinator of Campers on Mission. He was a member of River Rock Baptist Church and an active deacon of past Baptist churches.
Mr. Cole was preceded by his parents, brother, Eddie Dale Cole and son-in-law, Victor Huckaby. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Cole of Murfreesboro; daughter, Susan Nash of Murfreesboro; son, Larry (Patsy) Cole of Mt. Juliet; daughter, Betty Huckaby of Shelbyville; son, Richard (Becky) Cole of College Grove; brothers, Jim Cole of Orlando, FL; Maurice Cole of Stanford, NB; Darrell Cole of Daytona Beach, FL; sisters, Rebecca Cantrell; Roberta Martin both of Daytona Beach, FL; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Lela McClaran Powers, age 98 of Murfreesboro died Monday, December 13, 2010 at NHC. Mrs. Powers was a native of Eagleville and was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Ella Hudson McClaran. Mrs. Powers was also preceded in death by her husband John Ivie Powers who died in 1962, a son Edwin Ivie Powers, and a daughter Wanda Getz, four brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Powers is survived by her son James (Jane) Powers of Crossville, and two daughters Jean (Jack) Vaughn and Frances Powers of Murfreesboro, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Powers was a member of River Rock Baptist church and attended Eagleville High school. She was one of the original patrol mothers for Murfreesboro police department at Crichlow School.
