Alvia McKinley Dalton, age 82, of Chapel Hill, died Sunday, December 12, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Ennis McKinley Dalton and Sally Pope Morgan. Mr. Dalton was retired from the Public Works Department of Metro Nashville with 28 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Smotherman Dalton, a daughter, Jean Smith; 2 sisters, Mamie Scalf and Pauline Baskin; a brother, Gene Dalton.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Mae Gray of Nashville; a son, James Lee Dalton of Cocoa Beach, FL; 4 sisters, Erlene Young, Geraldine Dodson, Geraldene Smithson and Edith Ackley, all of Lewisburg; a brother, Robert Dalton of Lawrenceburg; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

James M. Russell, age 82, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday morning, December 11, 2010. Mr. Russell was born in Giles County, Tennessee and was a son of the late William and Tennie Pearl Fralix Russell. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. In 2000, Mr. Russell retired from Uni-Web of Columbia where he was a plant foreman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Faye Owens, who died in 1996.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Joyce Russell of Chapel Hill; three daughters, Sheila (Randy) Sweeney, Gail (Butch) Robertson and Susan (Greg) England, all of Chapel Hill; son, Chris Russell of Chapel Hill; brother, Mahlon Russell of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Ed Sweeney, Gwen Gentry, Crystal Darnell, Jennifer Hodge, Amanda Robinson, Jacob Robertson, Rachel Robertson; eight great grandchildren.

Ethel Louise Herron, of Murfreesboro, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at NHC. Miss Herron was a native of the Rockvale Community and daughter of the late John W. and Hattie Barrett Herron Jr. Miss Herron was a member of First Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery for over 60 years. She attended Crichlow Grammar School and graduated summa cum laude from Murfreesboro Central High School in 1936, and received her B.A. Degree from Tennessee College for Women. She was certified to teach English, Latin, French and Mathematics. She had taught school at Smyrna, Franklin, Murfreesboro Central High School, and Riverdale High School for nine years prior to her retirement.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in memory of Miss. Herron.

Roy Benton Robinson, age 69, entered into his eternal rest on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, after a valiant battle with cancer. He is deeply loved by his faithful wife of 51 years, Judy Faye Tassey Robinson of Rockvale; three daughters Cindy Vick (Keith), Lisa Wisener (John) Robbin Elrod (Keith); 5 grandchildren: Joshua (Kimberly) Vick, Rebecca (Wes) King Kennedy, Sara (Jimmy) King Bratcher, and Rachel and Luke Elrod; three great grandchildren: Abram, Katelyn, and Logan Vick; two sisters: Roberta Williams and Ellen Farrar; and many nephews and nieces, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Will and Sara Emogene Hill Robinson, three brothers; William, Freeland, and Clyde and four sisters: Vera Robinson, Annie Stem, Esther Byrd, Kathleen Geasley. He leaves behind countless friends and neighbors and church members who loved and respected Mr. Roy.
Roy retired from GE as a supervisor after 35 years of service. He was a member of Rockvale Church of Christ for 48 years where he served as a teacher and Elder. He was a wise man of few words who was generous to a fault, helping anyone he could. At home he just wanted to be outdoors working in the cotton fields, tending the garden, milking cows, and working on farm equipment. He was a well-respected farmer who could fix just about anything. He was a hard-working man with no desire to be in the spotlight, exemplifying true integrity, keeping God and family first in his life.

Frances Faulkner Beasley, age 92, of Unionville, died Tuesday evening, November 30, 2010 in Shelbyville. Mrs. Beasley was born in Bedford County and was a daughter of the late Louie and Georgia Trott Faulkner. She was a homemaker and was a published poet. Mrs. Beasley was a 70 year member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church near Unionville and was also active in the Bedford County Laity Club. She was very active in civic activities including; Bedford County Senior Citizens, especially the Senior Olympics, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bedford County Farm Bureau Women, 70 year member of F.C.E., a 4-H leader, a 37 year member of T.O.P.S., and volunteered as a gray lady at the former Bedford County General Hospital in Shelbyville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Felix Beasley, Sr. who died in 1994.
Mrs. Beasley is survived by three daughters, Nancy Perryman, Unionville, TN, Virgie (Don) Summers, Eagleville, TN, May Beth (Eddie) Woods, Mt. Juliet, TN; two sons, Mack (Charlotte) Beasley, Pleasanton, TX, Leonard (Connie) Beasley, Jr., Unionville, TN; half-sister, Jean Barnes, Murfreesboro, TN; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

Eunice Irene Skinner Hartley Hicks, age 93, of College Grove, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at her residence. A native of Williamson County, Mrs. Hicks was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Susan Ann Rummage Skinner. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Cortez Hicks. Mrs. Hicks was a member of Harpeth 1st Baptist Church. Survived by a daughter, Geneva Irene Lynch of College Grove; a son, James Albert Hartley of College Grove; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas R. “Tom” Ralston, age 87, of Eagleville, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 in Franklin. Mr. Ralston was born in Rutherford County and was a son of the late David Wayhat and Mary Frances Turner Ralston. He was a life long farmer and a member of the Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Ralston is survived by a sister, Myrtle Ralston Hobbs of Eagleville; a brother, John Lee Ralston of Fairview; a niece, Susan Harper of Albuquerque, NM; two nephews, Kenneth Ralston of Johnson City, Ed Ralston of Nashville; great nieces, Heather Tucker of Nashville, Rachael Ralston of Kingsport, Jennifer Leachman of Kernersville, NC, Amanda Hobbs of Eagleville; great nephews, Dr. John Ralston of Springfield, IL, Josh Harper of Denver, CO; two great great nieces and one great great nephew.

Bro. Terry Paul Harris, age 60, of Unionville, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in Shelbyville. Bro. Harris was born in Nashville and was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ella Mae Young, father, Charles Harris, mother, Elsie Elkins Harper and a sister, Sherry Adcock. He was a Pastor for over 34 years. During his years in the ministry he was a co-founder of West Main Mission in Murfreesboro and pastored at Harriman Free Methodist Church, Westmoreland Free Methodist Church, Clarkrange United Methodist Church, Oak Hill United Methodist Church, Unionville Community Church, Assembly of Christ, Pleasant Grove-Greenwood- Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Churches Charge, and presently was pastor at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Unionville Lions Club.
Bro. Harris is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Harris of Shelbyville; two sons, Chris (Kelly) Harris of Murfreesboro, Allan (Karen) Harris of Unionville; two sisters, Lisa Hackney and Patty Harris, both of Murfreesboro; brother, Barry Harris of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, Kayla Harris, Elijah Harris, Megan Harris and A.J. Harris.

Lonnie Ray Davis left this life Saturday, November 20, 2010 to go home with the Lord at the age of 60 after a lengthy battle with cancer at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Murfreesboro. Lonnie was a maintenance machinist specialist at Chromalox for 41 years. He loved classic cars, working outside, and his family. He was a member of Eagleville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reuben Davis, sister, Betty Jean Hillis, and brother, Melvin Davis. He leaves behind his loving wife Michelle Rigsby Davis of 33 years. They have 3 loving children, Jeremy Ray (Joanna) Davis, Amanda Rae (Justin Fontaine, fiancé) Davis, and Dustin Matthew Davis. Lonnie was blessed to have known his 1st grandson (whistle-britches) Jacob “Jake” Ruben for almost 2 years. Lonnie also leaves behind his mother Priscilla Davis and 3 brothers Buck Davis, Edward (Darlene) Davis of Murfreesboro, Carl (Kathy) Davis of Bell Buckle and sister-in-law Linda Davis of Unionville. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Della J. Hunt, age 82 of Nashville, died November 12, 2010. Preceded in death by husband, Charles E. Hunt; parents, Alfred & Vashti Jakes. Della was a retired Metro School Teacher; a member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekahs; and a member of Crievewood Baptist Church for 48 years. She is survived by daughter, Linda (Chris) Manley; grandchildren, Christina Michelle Walker & Martha Ann Manley.

Roy Lee Lamb, age 73 of Murfreesboro, left this life with short notice, but by no means without a good fight on November 12, 2010. He was a native of Rockvale and hung his “hat” in Readyville for the past 24 years.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Inez Lamb.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Donna Lamb; his daughter, Cindy Lamb; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Gay Lamb; three grandchildren, Josie Lee Fitzgerald, Tanner Lee Lamb and Andrea (David) McDuffie; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Amaris and Josiah McDuffie. He is also survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles William and Jo Lamb, Howard and Marie Lamb of Gladeville, Earl and Faye Lamb; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and the late Beacham Bowman, Frances and Ronnie Conner of Adolphus, KY, and many nieces and nephews who were entertained with his love and laughter for many years. Last, but by no means least, he will be missed by his beloved dog and companion, Gracie.
Roy retired from Lewis Bros. Bakery where he was a transport driver for 44 years. He was an avid Trail rider and dedicated to his coon hounds and his beagle dogs. He loved farming and the outdoors. Roy left a legacy of smiles, laughs, and a love of a good time for all family and friends who shared in his gift. He will be missed by his family, his horse, and all who had the opportunity to share in his humor and love.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
