Linda J. Douthit, of the Arrington community, went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2010, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was born in Madison, TN, on September 2, 1949, to W.P and Eleanor Lyell, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Mark; son Andrew of Nashville; daughter Karen (Chris) Mazzella of Thompson’s Station; sister Susan White of Maryville; two grandchildren Johnathan and Isabelle Mazzella; one niece, and two nephews.
She was a member of the Concord Road Church of Christ and had been employed in the legal field in Franklin for many years.

Marianne Bierman VanArsdale
Marianne Bierman VanArsdale, age 56, of Eagleville, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 after an extended illness. A native of Cincinnati, OH, Mrs. VanArsdale was the daughter of the late Charles and Fern Bierman. She was an accountant for Tractor Supply, Inc. of Brentwood.
She is survived by her husband, Danny VanArsdale of Eagleville; a daughter, Devin VanArsdale of Eagleville; three brothers, Charles Bierman of Cincinnati, OH, Jack Bierman of Griggs, ID and Gary Bierman of Cincinnati, OH.

Jeannette Mae Stephanie DeCosta Moates
Jeannette Mae Stephanie DeCosta Moates, age 73 - Aug. 2, 1936 - May 14, 2010.
Jeannette passed peacefully of lung cancer at her daughter’s home in Thompson’s Station. She resided in Eagleville. She is predeceased by her mother Ethel Simmons DeCosta Seifert of Provincetown, father Lawrence DeCosta of Provincetown and Florida and great grandchild, Davaan McDuffie. Survived by brother, Larry DeCosta of Provincetown; son, Karl (Daphne Turner) Moates of Nashville; son, Craig (Deborah) Moates of Eagleville; daughter, Stephanie (David) Grau of Thompson's Station. Five grandchildren: Joshua (Gretchen) Moates of College Grove, Bryan (Christie) Moates of Columbia, Andrea (David) McDuffie of Murfreesboro, Matthew Hensley of Nashville & Ian David Grau of Thompson's Station. Five great-grandchildren: Makayla Moates, Brayden Moates, Jamon Moates, Amaris McDuffie, Josiah McDuffie.
Jan was a native of Provincetown, Massachusetts, at the tip of Cape Cod. After High School, she married, Edward B. Moates and moved to the south. Over the years, their respective family and careers took them to KY, FL, UT, OK, CA and finally back to TN to live on a 90-acre farm. Jan worked her entire life... her last career for 20+ years before retirement in 2000, was in purchasing for a franchise food chain organization (DavCo, formerly Southern Hospitality). After she raised her children and retired from a Monday–Friday job, she finally got the chance to do the things she enjoyed – stay up late, sleep late, relax on the farm, dance, sing, play ukulele, games and cards, travel and spend time with her family & friends.
Rest in Peace, dear lady. You are greatly missed and deeply loved. A special thank you to the Red Hat Society and Fifty Forward members.

Charles Hershel Darnell of Chapel Hill, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 in Nashville. Mr. Darnell was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Leslie Allen Darnell and Gertrude Boling Darnell Rainey. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Darnell was the retired owner of Darnell and Son Tile Company in Chapel Hill. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Darnell is survived by his wife, Marie Darnell, Chapel Hill; five sons, Chuck (Nancy) Darnell, Eagleville, Joe (Jan Meredith) Darnell, Chapel Hill, Jeff ( Jan) Darnell, Chapel Hill, Jimmy (Tasha) Darnell, Chapel Hill; Jamie (Julie) Darnell, Murfreesboro; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; special friends, Mary Katherine and Kim Gutledge, Dalton, GA.

Kathleen Riley Jordan, age 89, of College Grove, died Sunday, May 1, 2010.
She was a resident of NHC Place at Cool Springs, a WWII Veteran (WAVES), worked at Page High School for almost 15 years and member of Christ Family Church in Nolensville.
She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Jordan.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by children, Nora F. (Riley) Sewell, Ronald V. (Callie) Jordan and James N. Jordan; grandchildren, Anna Mary Jordan, Andrew Jordan, Dawn M. Sewell and Phoebe Williams; great grandchildren, Eli and Abby Artioli; sisters, Neida Leak and Mary Wheeler.

Mae Brothers Puckett, age 90, of Triune, died on April 3, 2010, preceded in death by her husband, James Watson Puckett.
Mrs. Puckett and her husband operated Puckett Brothers Grocery Stores in Triune, and Leipers Fork.
She attended Jenkins Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nolensville, and Triune United Methodist Church.
She attended Webb School in Bell Buckle, and Nashville Business College.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Puckett Wittenberg & beloved son-in-law, Ed Wittenberg; grandson, Andrew James Wittenberg & wife, Wendy Wittenberg; brothers, Bob Brothers, & wife, Betty Brothers; sisters-in-law, Mary Brothers, Margaret Brothers, Mildred Puckett Taylor & Grace Puckett; nieces, Melissa Brothers Fultz & husband, Ernie Fultz, Susan Brothers, Marsha Brothers Dubin, Lydia Brothers, Judy Brothers, Teresa Taylor Gentry, & Anita Puckett Case; and nephews, Mark Brothers, Frank Brothers & Leon Puckett.

Mr. Vaughn was born in Rutherford County, and was a son of the late Thadius and Eva Frances Beasley Vaughn.

A native of Davidson County, Mrs. Douglass was a daughter of the late Thomas Cranford and Lottie Hazel Griggs Logan.
She was a homemaker, a former Real Estate Broker with Roy Barker Century 21 and attended Faith Apostolic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Douglass of Eagleville; two daughters, Sharon Elaine Douglass of Eagleville and Carol Anne Guin of Tullahoma; a sister, Lillian Webb of Nashville; three grandchildren.

Sammie Louise Carlton Farris, age 84, of Rockvale, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at MTMC.
She is survived by a daughter, Nettie Ann (Randy) Throneberry of Shelbyville; son, William Hopkins (Sue) Farris of Pulaski; brothers, Charles (Hazel) Carlton of Tullahoma, James Alfred (Janice) Carlton of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Barry Ryan Throneberry of Columbia, William Hopkins (Bethany) Farris, II of Rockvale, Beth (Mark) Sesler of Murfreesboro, Kelli (Michael) Lamb of Rockvale, and Samuel Jerome Farris of Nashville; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Cox Farris, who died in 2004; infant daughter, Betty Jane Farris; her parents, Alfred Bell and Lonnie White Carlton; and sister, Annie Ruth Carlton.
Mrs. Farris was an active member of the Rockvale Ruritan Club, Rockvale Family and Community Education Club, former president of the Rutherford County FCE Council, 4-H Club adult leader, choir member and teacher of the ladies Sunday School Class of Eagleville Baptist Church of which she was a member for 74 years.

Myrtle Taylor Harkreader, age 90, of the Gladeville community of Wilson County, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Madison, TN, after an extended illness.
A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. Harkreader was a daughter of the late Alfred Herbert and Rosie Lee Rowland Morris.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Rocky Glade Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Harkreader was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas M. Taylor who died in 1970.
She is survived by a son, Jerry (Becky) Taylor of Lebanon; a sister, Nellie "Jean" (Jesse) Tate of Murfreesboro; a brother, Herbert (Mildred) Morris of Murfreesboro; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
