Betty Mae Garton, age 56, of Smyrna, passed away on March 3, 2010 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County. She was a member of Jackson Ridge Community Church.
Betty was preceded in death by grandparents, Albert E. and Leana Mae Graves and Walter and Mattie Covington. She is survived by her parents, Roy and Mattie Lou Covington; husband, David Eugene Garton; son, Robert (Karen) Carter of Lebanon; grandmother, Katherine Graves of Murfreesboro; brother, James (Beverly) Covington of Eagleville; sisters, Judy (Ronnie) Stanley of Rockvale and Lois (David) Henderson of Smyrna; two grandchildren, Darby and Shaina Carter.

Loula Graves Brittain Scales, 97 of College Grove, died March 1, 2010. She was a member of College Grove Church of Christ and a teacher with the Williamson County School System with 40 years of service.
She was preceded in death by husband William "Dink" Scales, three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Scales is survived by daughters Carolyn (Nolan) Barham of Eagleville and Bobbie (Campbell) Attkisson of College Grove; grandchildren Bobby (Jenny) Turner and Susan (Tim) Underwood; great grandchildren Rachel and Joshua Underwood, Perry and Cassidy Turner.
Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Disaster Relief Fund, 410 Allied Dr. Nashville, TN 37211 or Willowbrook Hospice 381 Riverside Dr. Suite 440 Franklin, TN 37064.

Jewel E. Beard King, age 78, of Unionville, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 in Murfreesboro, following an extended illness.
A native of Williamson County, Mrs. King was the daughter of the late Robert Avery and Willie Elease Reed Beard Sr. She was a homemaker and attended Kingdom Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Otis King Sr. who died in 1965, and by a son, William Otis King, Jr.
Survivors include her five daughters, June Gail Upchurch of Unionville; Connie Sue Hill of Chapel Hill; Judy F. Barrett of Christiana; Bonnie Lou Cunningham of Rockvale and Wanda Jean Smitty of Milton; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Nancy K. Jones, age 62, of Christiana, died Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Murfreesboro. A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. Jones was a daughter of the late William Clay and Lizzie Louise Morris Underwood. She was a homemaker and member of Jackson Ridge Community Church where she taught Sunday School.
Survivors are her husband, Amos Jones of Christiana; two daughters, Pam (Johnny Goins) Davenport of Woodbury and Kim (Perry) Mason of Unionville; son, Greg Jones of Christiana; three sisters, Linda (James) Walls of Eagleville, Kathy (Albert Adams) Russell of Murfreesboro and Patricia Berry of Jekyll Island, GA; two brothers, William V. (Faye) Underwood of Eagleville and Bobby (Barbara) Underwood of Rockvale; three grandchildren, Wendy (Heath) Petty, PFC Dustin Mason, USMC and Austin Heath; two great grandchildren.

Shirley Ann Donegan Jones, age 64, of College Grove, died Monday, February 15, 2010. She was born in Manchester, England, retired from Saturn, and attended St. Philip Catholic Church. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emily Johnston Donegan; husband, David Jones; sister, Rita Parker.
She is survived by daughters, Colleen (Ira) Dunn of PA, Jacqueline Jones of College Grove; sister, Joan Donegan of Canada; grandson, Jackson Dunn; several nieces and nephews.

Charles A. Rigsby, age 69, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, formerly of College Grove, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 in Franklin, Tennessee. Mr. Rigsby was born in Davidson County and was a son of the late George D. and Pauline Bellenfant Rigsby. He was a graduate of College Grove High School, Class of 1959, a charter member of First Baptist Church, College Grove and was presently a member of Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Allisona. Charles was a former customer representative for Williamson Medical Center in Franklin and was also the former owner of Charles Rigsby Photography and co-owner of College Grove Drugs, both in College Grove. He organized and was the first Scout Master of the College Grove Boy Scout Troop. He was a member and past president of the College Grove Lions Club, and was a former member of Grace Works Advisory Board of Williamson County. Mr. Rigsby was a 33 year member of the College Grove Fire Department which he served as Chief of the Department for 30 years. He was a member of the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association and was a charter member of the Williamson County Fire Chiefs Association. Charles helped form the first responder program now in place in Williamson County. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Rigsby.
Mr. Rigsby is survived by a sister, Marjorie (Aubrey) Ghee of College Grove; brother, James E. (Hazel) Rigsby of Eagleville; two nieces; two nephews; three great nieces; four great nephews; one great great niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harpeth Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church; the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Mark Crawford Ralston, age 50, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Saturday morning, February 6, 2010 at his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Ralston was born in Rutherford County and was a graduate of Community High School Class of 1978. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Rutherford County and was employed with the Rutherford County Co-op of Eagleville.
Mr. Ralston was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip David Ralston and by grandparents, George and Maye Ralston, Jim and Ruth Carlton.
Mr. Ralston is survived by his mother and father, Faye and Harold Ralston of Rover Community; brothers, Marvin (Sherre) Ralston, Melvin (Melanie) Ralston, Nathan (Marilyn) Ralston all of the Rover Community and Carl Ralston of Nashville; several nieces and nephews.

Gladys A. Rowland, age 89, of the Rocky Glade Community of Rutherford County, died Thursday evening, February 4, 2010. Mrs Rowland was a life long resident of Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Willie and Virginia Tennessee Taylor Clark. She was a homemaker and had also retired from Cloverbottom Developmental Center in Nashville. Mrs. Rowland was a member of the Eagleville Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Rowland who died in 1983.
Mrs. Rowland is survived by two daughters, Patsy Rowland Reeves of Rocky Glade Community, Virginia Newcomb of Chapel Hill; two sons, Randall (Lisa) Rowland of Rocky Glade Community, Eddie (Mildred) Rowland of Rocky Glade Community; sister, Betty Alderdice of Lewisburg; brothers, Eugene Clark of Lewisburg, Faye Clark of Eagleville; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Carl Bruce Cooper, age 72, of Manchester, formerly of Unionville, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Bedford County, Mr. Cooper was a son of the late Herbert and Beatrice Crick Cooper. He was a retired computer programmer at Arnold Engineering Development Center, a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in the Rover community of Bedford County and a charter member of the Community Lions Club in Unionville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Tucker Cooper who died in 2000 and an infant sister, Vivian Ann Cooper.
Survived by his wife, Jean Frazier Cooper of Manchester; 2 daughters, Sherry Miller and Brandy Simmons of Unionville; a son, Brent Cooper of Shelbyville; 3 step-sons, David Frazier of Estill Springs, Ricky Frazier and Donnie Frazier of Manchester; 3 brothers, David Cooper of Christiana, Barry Cooper of Chapel Hill, and Ray Cooper of Manchester; 6 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren and Special Grandchildren, Sonia and Tony Carlton.

William Robert "Bob" Henry, Jr., age 84, of Rockvale, formerly of Jackson, MS, died January 28, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Durant, Mississippi, he was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert Sr. and Ollie Pender Henry. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Chuck and Scott Henry.
Mr. Henry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris Henry; three daughters and sons- in-law, Bobby Lynn (William) Lawrence of Rockvale, Cherry (David) Rogers of Murfreesboro, and Emily Traugott of Dallas, TX; eleven grandchildren, Amanda Rogers, Tracy Walters, Joshua Rogers, Erica Meshell, Laura DeLeon, Jessica Heinrich, Lisa Lawrence, Charlie Rogers, Matthew Lawrence, and Ralf and Clayton Traugott; sixteen great grandchildren; five sisters, Roberta York, Loraine Logan, Louanne Jordon, Trudy Wand, and Becky Tynes, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Henry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson, MS, and was a World War II Veteran serving in the Navy with the Seabees in Saipan and the Marshall Islands. He was a retired Architect, member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association and a "Fellow in the A.I.A." He served as a President of the Mississippi State Chapter of the A.I.A. and C.S.I. and was instrumental in starting the Mississippi State School of Architecture at Mississippi State University.
