Thomas H. Lynch, age 82, of Chapel Hill, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, in Shelbyville. Mr. Lynch was born in Bedford County and was a son of the late Hiram Edgar Lee and Mary Ella Davis Lynch. He served in the United States Army and was a retired highway construction worker. Mr. Lynch was a member of North Fork Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by sisters, Viola Lynch, Gracie Allen, Bessie Underwood, Alice Lynch, Susie M. Lynch and by brothers, J.R. Lynch and Robert Edward Lynch.
Mr. Lynch is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Rollins Lynch of Chapel Hill; two daughters, Sandra Neese of Shelbyville and Vina Sue Winstead of Eagleville; three sons, Bobby Lynch, Thomas G. Lynch and Jeff Lynch, all of Unionville; two brothers, William Cooper Lynch of Unionville and Edgar Lynch, Jr. of College Grove; a sister, Mable Cherry of Lewisburg; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Donna Kennedy Steagall Pfeiffer, 70, of Murfreesboro was called home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2010. Donna was a loving wife and mother.
She was a longtime member of the Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chapter 91, where she formerly held the station of Recorder of Crosses. She worked in local government for many years at the Rutherford County Courthouse where she retired as secretary for the Honorable Whitney Steagall. She will be missed by all and her spirit will live on with all whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mary Frances and Earl Boyd Kennedy of Nashville. She is survived by her devoted husband, Ernest Allen Pfeiffer, Sr.; her children, Mark Steagall, Tina Gail Steagall, Tom (Tanera) Steagall and Earl (Angie) Steagall, all of Rockvale; stepchildren, Ernest Allen (Missy) Pfeiffer, Jr. of Nashville, Carole Joy Pfeiffer, of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Hannah Gwen Steagall, Dawson Kennedy Steagall, Olivia Frances Steagall, and Jack Thomas Steagall, all of Rockvale, and Anna Dean Pfeiffer and Allissa Ryan Pfeiffer of Nashville; great grandson, Caden Earl Sledge; brothers, Ronnie (Susan) Kennedy and Mike (Lisa) Kennedy.

Richard J. "Cracker" Gordon, age 97, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, January 8, 2010, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born December 9, 1912, in Bedford County, to the late Closson and Myrtle Stephens Gordon. He was a 1931 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School, a retired farmer and a former member of the Bedford County Commission. He was founding member and organizer of the Bedford County CO-OP, where he was also a former Director. He was President of the Flat Creek Community Club when it won the state award for the "Most Improved Community in the State". He was also a former Director of the Farm Bureau and the Senior Citizen's Board and a former Elder of Flat Creek Church of Christ, where he was a life long member.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Audra Mai Gordon, in 2008. Mr. Gordon is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel Allen Gordon, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Anne Gordon Sanders, of Knoxville, and Betty Gordon Goodpaster and her husband, Julian, of Eagleville; a sister, Mildred Roberts, of Wartrace; four grandchildren, John Goodpaster, and his wife Jennifer, James Goodpaster, Sarah Teague, and her husband Matthew, and Dr. Will Sanders, and his wife, Reetu; four great grandchildren, Maggie Goodpaster, Hazel Goodpaster, Ava Jean Teague, and Locke Teague.

Alene (Dean) McRae Toombs, age 89, of Arrington, died Sunday, January 3, 2010. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Byrd and Mary Smythia McRae. Mrs. Toombs is survived by her daughter, Annette (Bobby) Morton of Smyrna; son Paul (Patsy) Toombs of Christiana; sister Madie Wilson of Almaville; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Toombs; Pete and Rose Elliott, the couple who raised Mrs. Toombs; sisters Ruby Temple, Martha Byrd; son Miley Edward Toombs and grandson Jesse Robert Morton.

Elise Slater Beck, age 99, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at her home in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Beck was a native of Wartrace and was the daughter of the late Bert and Addie Bowen Slater. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Beck who died in l963 and her sister, Rosiland (Rose) Motlow. She is survived by her son, John H. Beck of Murfreesboro, and her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Tom Tytula of Huntsville, AL; two grandchildren, Teresa Lynn Tytula and Mary Elizabeth Burcham; three great-grandsons, Will, Wesley, and Wyatt Burcham. Mrs. Beck was a former music teacher at Rockvale School and was pianist at First Baptist Church. She attended Central Christian Church where she served as church organist for many years before her retirement.

Mattie Flora Maxwell Haynes, age 84, of Rockvale, died Saturday, January 2, 2010. She was a native of Rockvale and daughter of the late William L. and Mattie Hayes Maxwell, Sr. Mrs. Haynes is survived by her son, David Haynes of Eagleville; daughter, Karen (Carl) Hollis of Murfreesboro; sisters, Anna Middleton of Donelson, Evelyn Writesman of Nashville, and Florence Wheeler of Murfreesboro; brother, Bob Maxwell of Murfreesboro; four grandchildren, DJ Haynes, Alicia Riley, Sarah and Matthew Hollis; three great grandchildren, Isaac and Cannon Haynes, Jaxson Riley. She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. "Jack" Haynes; granddaughter, Julie Hollis; sister, Julia Fisher, and brothers, W. L. Maxwell, Jr., and Homer Maxwell. Mrs. Haynes was a member of the Rockvale Church of God, a graduate of Rockvale School, and was former bookkeeper for Harrison and Alexander of Murfreesboro.

Helen Thompson Williams, 72, of Rockvale died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late George Wilkie and Stella Bugg Thompson. She retired from Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Thurman Williams of Rockvale; daughter Susan Eubank of Rockvale; brothers Bobby (Beth) Thompson and Jimmy (Paulette) Thompson, both of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Brad Ryan and Kayla Ryan; and great-grandchild Destiny Richardson.

Oliver Crawford Robinson, 91, of Murfreesboro died Friday, April 30, 2004 at Northside Nursing Center.
A native of Wilson County, he was the son of the late Remus and Myrtle Dunn Robinson. He had lived most of his life in Rutherford County. He was a retired farmer and mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ogles Robinson.
Survivors include sons Oliver Randall Robinson of Murfreesboro and James Alton (Sonia) Robinson of Rockvale; brothers Truman Robinson of Murfreesboro and Dewey Robinson of Rockvale; sisters Robbie Oglesby of Murfreesboro and Carnettie Arbuckle of Cleveland; grandchildren Oliver Randall Robinson Jr., Morgan Maylene Robinson and Rachel Renee Robinson; and great-grandchildren Olivia Leigh Robinson and Victoria Lynne Robinson.

Owen B. Jackson, 76, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at his residence in Eagleville.
Mr. Jackson was born in Williamson County to the late Johnny and Annie Mae Pulley Jackson. He was a retired farmer and maintenance man for Pillsbury. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Cross Keys Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Jackson of Eagleville; daughters Jeannie Galavin and husband Jack of Spring Hill and Joy Dyer and husband Steve of Rockvale; son Timmy Lee Jackson of Franklin; sister Pearl Espinoza and husband Johnny of Franklin; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and step-children Ronnie Buford, Billy Buford, Faye Bennett and Connie Reeves.

William H. Lamb, 86, of the Rover community of Bedford County, died Monday, April 26, 2004, in Nashville after an extended illness.
Mr. Lamb was the son of the late John Richard and Mary Eva Tucker Lamb. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in the Rover community.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Mrs. Ruby Lamb, of the Rover community; daughter Mrs. Peggy Vaughn, of Eagleville; son the Rev. Thomas W. (Tom) Lamb, of the Rover community; brother Thomas L. Lamb, of Augusta, Ga.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
