Richard Len Boyett, 59, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Smith Bowling and Helen Louise Barnes Boyett. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stephanie Jo Barnhill.
He is survived by son Jeffrey (Julie) Boyett, of Rockvale; sisters Ruth Kelton and Deloris Singleton, of Nashville, and Carolyn Spann, of Dickson; grandchildren Cameron, Katelyn, Matthew and Miranda Boyett, Megan and Marissa Barnhill.
A native of Davidson County, he was owner and operator of Computer Room Design company.
James Elvis McElroy, 78, died Oct. 25, 2003 at his residence in Lawrenceburg, Tenn.
He was born in Russell Springs, Ky. to the late John and Laura Owens McElroy and was a retired self-employed farmer, loving husband and father. Mr. McElroy was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis McElroy.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Fox McElroy of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; daughters, Lillie McElroy (John) West of Arlington, Tex., Michelle McElroy (Martin ) Simmons of Franklin; step-sons, Paul (Betty Ann) Fox of Eagleville, Tenn, Allan (Janice) Fox of Columbia, Tenn; brother, William McElroy of Whiteland, Ind.; sisters, Gracie Brown of Russell Springs, Ky, Evelyn Rice of Danville, Ky.; four grandchildren, and one step-grandson.
Rubye Ollene Drennon McClaran, 91, of the Rover Community in Bedford County, died Monday, June 21, 2004, in Murfreesboro after an extended illness.
She was a native of Wilson County and the daughter of the late William Roy and Ester Mabel Floyd Drennon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ralph McClaran, who died in 2000.
She is survived by daughters Sheryl Hobbs, of Eagleville, Mary Esther Lamb of the Rover Community, Cynthia Halmontaller of Shelbyville, and Karen Smith of Unionville; sons Leon (Bubba) McClaran of the Rover Community, and Marion McClaran of Shelbyville; sisters Josie Katherine Akin of Nashville, and Ethel Maude Hansbery of Murfreesboro; brother William Floyd Drennon of Shelbyville; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Frederick ‘Birdman’ Philhower Sr., 75, of Eagleville, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Bedford County Medical Center in Shelbyville.
A native of Cherry Hill, N.J., he was the son of the late Clifford and Kathleen Martin Philhower. He was a retired heavy construction laborer.
He is survived by wife Mrs. Frances Sample Philhower, of Eagleville; daughters Linda Smith, of Bristol, and Robin Smotherman, of Christiana; sons Frederick Philhower Jr., of Rockvale, Gregory Philhower, of Eagleville, Jeffrey Philhower, of Woodbury, Glenn Philhower, of Crossville, and John Alekna, of Murfreesboro; sisters Betty Kohler, of Bradenton, Fla., and Marjorie Philhower, of Eagleville; brother James Philhower, of Rockaway Neck, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Linda Marie Marable, 64 of Eagleville died Thursday, June 17, 2004.
She was born at her home in Eagleville on January 26, 1940, after and ice storm and 19° below zero. Said to be the coldest day in Tennessee.
Linda was the daughter of the late George Champion (GC) Marable, Jr. and the late Ruby Doris Snow Marable.
She was preceding in death by a brother, Ronald Aubrey Marable.
Miss Marable is survived by a sister Mary Joe Marable Bryan of Rockvale; nieces and nephews Michael Champion Marable of Orange, TX, Jonathan Rett Bryan of Arrington, Amy Marie Murphy of Rockvale and Melinda Marable Spence of Chattanooga; great-nephews and nieces Drew and Dallas Marable of Orange, Texas, Gracie Jo-ning Bryan of Arrington and Hunter Murphy of Rockvale.
She was a member of Jenkins Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Nolensville and a member of the Charity Sunday School Class. A graduate and retired administrator and from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor of science in home economics in 1962 and a master of vocational technical education with a major in food service in 1987. She was employed by the National Dairy Council, a nutrition education trade association of the dairy industry from 1962 to 1975. She worked in Bristol, Tn and Louisville, Ky. In Chicago, she worked as an administrator of field services for offices in 50 states and traveled to all of the states except Alaska and Maine. She was director of marketing for refrigerated products from 1975 to 1986 for the Pet Incorporation in Johnson City, Tn. She spent 1986 to 1987 as a student. She was employed by Rutherford County Activity Center as a job trainer of handicapped adults from 1988 to 1989 and again from 1989 to 2002. She worked as a vocational education grant administrator for Middle Tennessee State University.
Lucille Johnson, 99, of Rockvale, died Thursday, June 10, 2004. A native of Marshall County, she was the wife of the late Clarence Johnson and a member of the Webb Grove AME Church.
Survivors include her devoted niece and nephew, Dorothy and Willie Crutcher; other nieces and nephews: Gertrude Parsley, Jean Baugh, Sadie Clemons, Earnestine Rucker, Marguerite Sanford, Janie P. Roberts, Sarah Roberts, Judy Roberts, W. D. Roberts, Edgar Wayne Roberts, Willie Ed Roberts and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mattie B. Brannon Lambert, 89, of Rockvale, died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at her home.
A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. Lambert was the daughter of the late Jimmy Daniel and Cora Elizabeth Lamb Brannon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rover Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Milton Evander Lambert, who died in 1952, and her second husband, George Grady Vassar, who died in 1996.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Ruth and Charles Bowlby, of Rockvale, and Ann and William Cooper of Unionville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy L. and Alene Lambert, Ronald M. and Peggy Lambert, and Donald M. and Vicki Lambert, all of Unionville, and Kelly F. and Janice Lambert of Chapel Hill; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Molly and James Troup of Chapel Hill; and her caregiver, Ruth Carlton.

Pearl Hargis Parks, 82, of Murfreesboro, but formerly of Eagleville, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Community Care of Rutherford County.
She was the daughter of the late Wiseman and Lethia Bransford Hargis.
She is survived by daughters Doris Sanders, of Nashville, Janet Burns, of Michigan, Judith Farris, of Murfreesboro, and Pamela Gray, of Ohio; sons Jerry Parks, of West Virginia, William Parks Jr. and Robert Parks, both of Michigan; brother Wiseman Hargis Jr., of Hermitage; sisters Lula Bradford, of Nashville, Dortch Young, of Michigan, and Betty Neal, of Murfreesboro; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Parks was married to the late William Thomas Parks. She was a member of the Baptist Church and a former employee of Hygrade Meat Company.
Edd Core Smithson, 82, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at his residence in Nashville.
Mr. Smithson was born in Williamson County to the late Patrick Henry and Mattie Sue Bennett Smithson, one of 11 children. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for 18 months before joining the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Smithson faithfully attended the CCC reunion every year.
He worked for 25 years as a security guard with Reichhold Chemical Co., which was formerly Ferro Fiberglass Corp. Mr. Smithson was a member of the Bethesda Senior Citizens and Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years, Mrs. Alva Smithson of Antioch; a daughter, Sheila Smithson (Wendell) Marlowe of Mount Juliet; a son, Wendell (Katrina) Smithson of La Vergne; three brothers, Sam Smithson of the Ash Hill Community, Roy Smithson of College Grove and Dorris Smithson of Franklin; two sisters, Rebecca Haskins and Jimmie Brown, both of Franklin; four grandchildren, Patrick and Joshua Marlowe, and Sara and Amanda Smithson; and one great-grandchild, Jordon Marlowe.
