J.C. "Corky" Melton
Services for J.C. "Corky" Melton, 76, Elizabethtown, Ky., who died at home Saturday, June 13, are set for 3 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. John W. Casey will officiate.
A native of Benton County, Tenn., his parents were the late Noah Melton and Julia Myers Melton.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie Rue Melton; a son, Mark Melton of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Donna Elizabeth Bryson of Augusta, Ga., Jamie Melton of Nashville; and four grandchildren.
A member of College Heights United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church here, he attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and earned his masters degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was a retired safety director for the states of Tennessee and Kentucky for the rural electrical cooperatives. He had served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Clara Louise Smith
Memorial services for Clara Louise Abernathy Smith, 97, Murfreesboro, who died Monday, June 15, at her son's home, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Gene Wise officiating.
A native of Tracy City, her parents were the late James Greenwood and Clara Johnson Abernathy.
Survivors include a son, Hugh Smith of Murfreesboro; grandson, Scott Smith of Bartlesville, Okla.; granddaughter, Jeanie Tucker of Murfreesboro; and five great-grandchildren.
A 1921 graduate of Shorter College, she was an educator and principal in the Broward County, Fla., school system for 39 years. She was a member of All Saints Church, Republican Women, Who's Who in American Woman and American Education, president of the American Association of University Women, Zonta Club, Florida Retired Teachers Association, AARP, and Delta Kappa Gamma Society international. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church here, and St. Anne's Guild and Woman's Club.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Murfreesboro, or to her church's building fund.
Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

William Joiner
Services for William Joiner, 61, Jasper, Ga., who died Monday, June 15, are set for noon Wednesday at Big Canoe Chapel, Jasper, with the Rev. Phil Ellington officiating.
A native of Louisville, Ga., he had lived here from 1976- 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Joiner; two daughters, Amy Neisen of Appleton, Wis., Angie Gray of Rockville; a son, Andy Joiner of Murfreesboro; his mother, Velver Joiner of Louisville; two sisters, Jackie Dixon of Girard, Ga., Dot Fischer of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Dr. Wayne Joiner of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
A graduate of Georgia Tech, he was operations supervisor for State Farm Fire and Casualty for 28 years. He was a Mason.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Canoe Chapel, 485 Big Canoe, Jasper, Ga., 30143.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home, Marietta, Ga.

Graveside services for Joe Finney, 62, of Morgan Road, who died of a heart attack Tuesday, June 16, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are set for 10 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Gagnon officiating.
His parents were the late John Finney and Edith Balletti Finney.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Ann Doster Finney of Murfreesboro; a son, Mark Finney of Murfreesboro; and a daughter, Ann-Marie Thrasher of Memphis.
A Catholic and a native of New York, he had lived here 21 years, and was presently employed by International Paper Co.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Diabetes Association.

Hazel Gill Ross

Her parents were the late Solon Gill and Mary Helen Taylor Gill.
She is survived by her husband, Carrington J. Ross of Murfreesboro; four sisters, Robbye Williams of Detroit, Mich., Johnnie Cantrell of Murfreesboro, Jean Allen of Nashville, and Lola Taylor of Silver Point.
A native of DeKalb County, she had lived most of her life in Tom's River, N.J., but had lived here the past 20 years.

Ruby Harrell McPeak
Services for Mrs. Ruby Harrell McPeak, 75, Graybar Lane, who died today, June 18, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Paul Gary Cooper will officiate.
Her parents were the late James F. Harrell and Edna Hudson Harrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. McPeak, who died in 1988; and a daughter, Mary Ellen McPeak, who died in 1994.
She is survived by a sister, Bernice McPeak of Columbia; a brother, Howard K. Harrell of Murfreesboro; and two nieces.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
