Bill Griffy, age 74, of Chapel Hill, died Tuesday morning, February 10, 2009 at his home where he was surrounded by his family and a host of friends. Mr. Griffy was a native of Williamson County and was a son of the late Leslie Ray and Mary Alice Sullivan Griffy. He served in the United States Air Force during the Koren conflict. Mr. Griffy was retired from the Williamson County Board of Education after 20 years as school bus garage manager and was a member of the Holts Corner Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two sister, Hettie Hargrove and Betty Leverette and by a son-in-law, Steve Lawrence.
Mr. Griffy is survived by his wife, Barbara Finley Griffy of Chapel Hill; three daughters, Sheila Griffy of Franklin, Sherry (Ricky) Batten of Chapel Hill, Shanna (Mike) McCoy of Chapel Hill; brother, Sewell Griffy of Unionville; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

June C. Byous, 84 of Rockvale passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Heritage Medical Center. Mrs. Byous was an Eastern member for 50 plus years in Texas and was a member of Rockvale Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Byous was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Collins; husband, John D. Byous; brother, Bill Ladas. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Alice and Jim Fernie of Texas and Jan and Mark Watson of Rockvale; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Nick Ladas of Sacramento, CA; several nieces and nephews.

Barbara Manier, age 79, of the Rover community of Bedford County died Saturday, February 7, 2009 following an extended illness. A native of Chicago, IL, Mrs. Manier was a daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian Wardrip Senkevech. She was a homemaker and a member of Rover Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Manier and a brother, Tommy Senkevech.
Survivors include her husband, Earl L. Manier of the Rover community; 3 sons, Tommy (Becky) Dean of Mobile, AL; Earl Reed (Sandy) Manier, Sr. of the Rover community, Wade Manier of the Rover community; a sister, Betty Baldwin of Lucerne, CA; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Manier of the Rover community; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Wanda Hoover, 73, of Cookville, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at her home. She was born March 14, 1935 in Putnam County to the late George Neal and Auda Lee Wilmoth Ford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Billy" Franklin Hoover and a sister, Janice Neal. Mrs. Hoover is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Jim and Janet Fort of Mt. Sterling, KY and John M. Ford of Cookeville.

Melvin Douglas, 70, a longtime native of Rutherford County, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Home. He was born in Christiana to the late Leonard Horace Douglas Sr and Lydia Lorene Robinson Douglas. He was a framing contractor and attended the Church of Christ.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, JoAnn Wade; brothers, Richard Douglas and James Douglas; sisters, Mary Ellen Smotherman, Clara Smotherman and Linda Travis. Shirley E. Redmon, age 68, of California, formerly of Eagleville, died Monday, January 26, 2009 in California. Mrs. Redmon was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Redmon.

Bounlieng Keoneth, age 66, of Rockvale, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009, at the Golden Living Nursing Center in Union City. Mr. Keoneth was a native of Parse, Laos. He was a former employee of Samsonite Corporation of Murfreesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Khampheng Sisamouth Keoneth; two sons, Khanthong Att Keoneth of Mt. Juliet and Khankeo Keoneth of Rockvale; and three grandchildren.

Richard Aaron Travis, age 78, of Eagleville died January 13, 2009. He was a native of Rutherford County and was preceded in death by his parents, Sam W. and Jennie Lou Hendrix Travis, and one sister, Joy Elizabeth McDaniel.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gloria Sharber Travis of Eagleville; daughters, Barbara S. Willie Myrtle Clark Chick, age 91, of Cane Ridge, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at her residence. A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. Chick was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Virginia Tennessee Taylor Clark. She was a retired nursing services employee of Clover Bottom Developmental Center and was a member of the Eagleville Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Chick was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Nathan Chick who died in 2006 and by a son, Donald Ray Chick.
Survived by a daughter, Barbara Wardlaw of Cane Ridge; a son, Bill Chick of Cane Ridge; two sisters, Gladys Rowland of Eagleville and Betty Alderdice of Lewisburg; two brothers, Fay Clark of Eagleville and Eugene Clark of Lewisburg; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Dean Cantrell, 73 of Murfreesboro, went to be with his heavenly Father Saturday, January 10, 2009. Dean was born in Rutherford County to the late Dorsey Dee Cantrell and Zora Mai Brandon Cantrell.
Dean is survived by his loving wife Fay Cantrell; daughters, Debra (Rick) Halliburton and Rene (Jeff) Davidson, all of Murfreesboro; son, Rod (Kate) Cantrell of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Heath Robinson, Brandon Pierce, Tyler Davidson, Anna Leigh Davidson, Anndrea (Chad) Chrisman, Tony (Jamie) Halliburton; great grandchild, Summur Halliburton; twin sister, Patsy Jean Radabaugh of Murfreesboro, sisters, Kay (Wayne) Ralston and Fay (Bob) Newman, both of Bell Buckle; sister and brother in law, Joyce and Tom Fjelstad of Murfreesboro; many nieces and nephews.
Dean was retired as a rural carrier with the United States Postal Service, a veteran of the United States Air Force as Airman First Class and a member of Midland Baptist Church. He currently holds the record of having lived the longest with the weakest heart under the care of Dr. Randall Rickard. For many years he has been an active and faithful servant of the Lord providing Ten Commandments, food, and his ministry to many. He was proud to be a Christian.
