Freddie Hoover
(September 2, 1955 - May 18, 2014)

Freddie Hoover, 58, of Murfreesboro, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Hoover was born in Cannon County, and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Mr. Hoover was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Hoover and sister, Sharon Hoover.

He is survived by his parents, Walter and Geneva Hoover of Murfreesboro; daughters, Angela Hoover Stroh (Shawn) of Murfreesboro; Haley Hoover of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Lacy Stroh and Allie Stroh.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 1:00pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Pastor Don Morris officiating.

Burial to follow at Thyatira Cemetery.

Tonya Marie Smotherman Smithey
(July 18, 1978 - May 9, 2014)

Tonya Marie Smotherman Smithey, 35, of Lavergne, passed away Friday, May 09, 2014 at her home.

She was born in Murfreesboro.

Tonya was preceded in death by her stepdad, Ricky D. Busey; grandmothers, Virginia P. Moore and Mattie Belle Smotherman.

She is survived by her father, Mark Smotherman of Bell Buckle; mother, Belinda Busey of Lavergne; sons, Hunter (Hannah) Smithey, Cason Smithey, J.J. Smithey and her daughter, Ashley Smithey, all of Unionville; brothers, Randall (Britney) Smotherman of Murfreesboro, Justin (Lara) Smotherman of Unionville and Chris Allen of Murfreesboro.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 12, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.

Funeral will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11 am at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Bro. John Bradford and Bro. Bill Swindell officiating.

Burial to follow at Whitworth Cemetery.

Wesley Doyle Stanfield
(September 28, 1925 - May 12, 2014)

The Reverend Dr. Wesley Doyle Stanfield, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, pastor, mentor and dear friend departed earth's temporal beauty for heaven's glorious eternal gain on May 12, 2014.

“Stanfield,” as he was affectionately known, was born and raised in LaFayette, Georgia (Walker County).

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, James Clarence & Alvice Stanfield, sister, Kayra “Smit” Stanfield Clark and wife of 62 years, Samara Stanfield.

Reverend Stanfield is survived by his wife, Shirley Miles Stanfield, son, Larry & Connie Stanfield, Georgia, daughter, Linda and Neil Burt, daughter, Lonna Hildreth, daughter, LeNaye & Ron Pearson, all in middle Tennessee, and by marriage, son, Bryan & Claudia Miles and daughter, Gretchen & Scott Norman who reside in Georgia.

Blessed with 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, the family legacy has produced several church pastors and lay leaders who are following in Stanfield's footsteps in leading others to Christ.

Reverend Stanfield graduated Bible Training School (currently known as Lee University in Cleveland, TN) and continued his education at Perdue University, Indianapolis, IN.

He received a Doctorate of Divinity at King's Way College in Des Moines, IA.

Stanfield served as State Overseer for the Church of God in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado as well as Kansas, and served as an international evangelist, starting 29 churches during his lifetime.

Stanfield pastored churches in Tennessee, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, North & South Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Having never retired, “because the calling and gifts of God are without repentance,” today his ministry continues via a weekly worldwide shortwave and internet radio ministry on WWCR (1300) that blankets the world with the Gospel through The Ministry of Sharing.

With a servant's heart, his theme has been “Love, Life and Laughter” which demonstrated his heart and passion for others that endeared him to so many wonderful friends he treasured as precious jewels.

Following a private graveside service, the family extends an invitation to join in a Celebration Jubilee with those he loved and touched over the years at The North Cleveland Church of God (423-476-5513) in the afternoon of May 31st.

Edward Leo Miller
(June 24, 1929 - May 30, 2014)

Edward Leo Miller, 84, of Hermitage, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Summit Medical Center.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Edward Leo Miller and Eva Ellis Miller.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, former American Legion Post Commander and member of St. Germaine Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor T. Miller; son, Edward Leo Miller, Jr.; daughter, Joan Therese Miller.

He is survived by his children, James T. (Teresa) Miller of Orland Park, IL, Eileen (Robert) Feuser of Elgin, IL, Thomas W. (Lynn) Miller of Orland Park, IL, William J. (Margo) Miller of Chicago, IL and Robert G. (Deborah) Miller of Murfreesboro, TN; seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.

Burial to be at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Alsip, IL.

Frank M. Neal, Sr.
(June 4, 1936 - May 15, 2014)

Frank M. Neal, Sr., 77, of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Mr. Neal was born in Smyrna, TN, to the late Henry Lewis Neal and Mattie Neal Heath.

He was a 2005 graduate of Nashville School of Preaching and a Windrow Church of Christ minister for thirty-eight years.

Mr. Neal was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ray, Elmer, Billy and John Wayne Neal; sister, Stella Louise Neal.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Ruth E. Neal; sons, Marty (Lisa) Neal, David (Tiffany) Neal, Ken (Shaila) Travis; daughter, Dawn Neal (Jimmy) Carver, all of Murfreesboro; sister, Mary Ann Gambill of Smyrna; nine grandchildren, Beth Neal (Kyle) McCullough, Trey Neal, Brad (Christy) Neal, Katelyn Neal, Christy Carver (Jered) Smotherman, Jamie (Mollie) Carver and Ellen Carver, Neal Travis and Tyler (Ana) Travis; six great-grandchildren, Isabella Smotherman, Evie Smotherman, Sydney Neal McCullough, Weston McCullough, Tripp Carver and Braylen Neal.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, May 16, 2014 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 1:00 pm until the Funeral at 3:00 pm at Murfreesboro Funeral Home.

Bro. Jimmy Carver and Bro. Ralph Neal officiating.

Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jo Ann Davis
(January 30, 1933 - May 13, 2014)

Jo Ann Davis, 81, of Christiana, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

Mrs. Davis was born in Orlando, FL, to the late Eldridge Clayton and Fannie Mae Harris.

She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe Davis.

She is survived by her children, Karen Jones of NC; Brenda Givens of FL; Marlin Allen of FL; Steven Toth of FL; Wendy Smotherman of Christiana; Ernie Toth of FL; Tracy Potter of FL; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Johnny Tomasetti of FL.

Mrs. Davis requested cremation with no service.
