Marshall E. Duggin, 84, of Woodbury, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004.
Services for Mr. Duggin will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at the Woodbury Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Bray officiating.
Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery following the services.
Mr. Duggin was preceded in death by wife Wauline A. Duggin on Feb. 18, 2004.
His parents were Samuel Lofton Duggin and Eppie Northcutt Duggin.
He is survived by daughter, Janet D. Barnes and son-in-law, Harry L. Barnes; daughter, Bette D. Lines; and son-in-law, Jonathan W. Lines.
He is also survived by granddaughter, Cynthia B. Judkins and Jeremy Judkins; granddaughter, Valerie B. Bush and Michael Bush; granddaughter, Stephanie Barnes and grandson, Sean E. Lines of McMinnville.
He has two great-grandsons: Jared Judkins and Blake Bush; and a great-granddaughter: Abbie Claire Judkins.
He is survived by a brother, Boyd (Bud) L. Duggin and Callie Mae Duggin; and aunt, Nell N. McElroy.
He was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy D. New.
Mr. Duggin was an actively practicing attorney in Woodbury since 1948.
He received his doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, June 7, 1948.
He was a member of the American Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association and the Rutherford-Cannon County Bar Association.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve on Nov. 4, 1941.
He trained at Parris Island, S.C., and subsequently joined the First Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in July 1942.
He attended Field Artillery School at Quantico, Va., and after graduation in February 1945, was ordered to the Third Marine Division stationed in Guam.
He received an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with three battle stars.
He received along with his Marine Division the Presidential Unit Citation from President Roosevelt for the Guadalcanal operation and the Navy Unit Commendation for the Cape Gloucester, New Britain operation.
For his active tenure during World War II, received the American Defense medal, American Campaign medal, World War II Victory medal and the Marine Corps Reserve ribbon.
He continued his military career in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from which he retired as a Colonel March 15, 1980.
Mr. Duggin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodbury, for more than 60 years.

Ralph Charles Marcus, age 89, of Smyrna, TN, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2013
He leaves behind four daughters, Diana Bernstein, Kathy Dawson and her husband, John, Terrie Bryan and her husband, Jim, and Beth Pruiett and her husband, Shane; ten grandchildren, David and Paul Bernstein, Amy Dawson, Ryan and Rebecca Gregory, Marcus and Jessica Hoffstetter, Ashley and Zachary Pruiett and Kelly Flatt; eight great-grandchildren, beloved cousins, John and Jenny Dyer and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Sarah Dyer Marcus; his father and mother, Jess and Jessie Marcus; and his sister, Clelon Marcus.
He served in three branches of the Armed Forces, the Navy, Marines and Army and fought in three wars, being a part of the second wave on the invasion of Iwo Jima during World War II, then later, served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the U.S. Army in 1968 as a SFC-E7, he moved his family to Memphis, TN, then to Martin, TN, before moving to Smyrna, in 1990.
He was a member of Stones River Baptist Church in Smyrna.
Ryan Gregory, David Bernstein, Marcus Hoffstetter, Zachary Pruiett, Ronnie Perryman and Mike Downs will serve as Pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at Stones River Baptist Church in Smyrna, Friday, June 7, 2013 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.
Funeral services will be held at Stones River Baptist Church on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00am.
Brother Oscar White will officiate.
Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
Robertson, Mrs. Nell Sims
Robertson, Mrs. Nell Sims, age 92, of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
Funeral services Wednesday 10:30 am Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Bud Mitchell officiating.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation with the family Tuesday 4-8 pm in the chapel.
She was born in Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late DeWitt & Bennie Mae Taylor Sims.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James A. Robertson, Jr. & Ruth Ann of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Trisha (Gary) Robertson Griscott and Robert Anthony Robertson of Murfreesboro; brother, Harry D. Sims and a sister, Evelyn Sims of Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Robertson was married to the late James A. Robertson, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Sims and her sisters, Hazel Turrentine and Mary Sue Wallace.
Mrs. Robertson was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Kenneth G. Salyers
June 17, 1934 - June 6, 2013
Kenneth “Ken” G. Salyers, age 78, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was born June 17, 1934 to Robert Walker and Sallie Boothe Salyers in Hansonville, Virginia.
On March 23, 1957, he married Reida Ferne Bowen in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
Survivors include his wife, Reida; daughter, Denise Gavin and her husband, Kevin; son, Randolph Salyers; daughter, Amy Ady and her husband, Marc; and daughter, Beth Victory and her husband, Tim; granddaughter, Lauren Kirby; and grandsons, Matthew and Andrew Ady; granddaughter, Sarah Dunback and granddaughter, Kim Willig and her husband, Zach; three great-grandchildren; as well as a special sister-in-law, Thelma Britton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Walker Salyers and Sallie Boothe Salyers; brothers, Alvin Dent Salyers, John Wesley Salyers, William Russell Salyers and Charles S. Salyers.
Ken founded Ken’s Exterminating in February 1974 and remained the sole proprietor until February 2013.
Ken’s favorite pastime was fishing – he and his wife, Reida, spent many hours fishing on Kentucky and Reelfoot lakes.
Ken was also an avid football and baseball fan.
Ken is a past member of the Smyrna Lions Club as well as the Hardee’s Early Morning Coffee Club.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna, on June 8, 2013.

Ken will be laid to rest at the Mapleview Cemetery in Smyrna, TN, immediately following the service.

Sikes, Judith Browning
Sikes, Judith Browning, daughter of the late LeWright Browning of Ashland, Kentucky, and the late Juliet Meriwether Davis of Nashville, Tennessee, died September 30, 2007 in Mount Juliet.

Judith was born in Maysville, KY, in 1918.
She was the granddaughter of the late Hunter McClure Meriwether and Lucy Underwood Western of Clarksville, Tennessee, and the late Edward Parry Browning and Judith Keith of Maysville, KY.
Mrs. Sikes was a graduate of Ward-Belmont School in Nashville, Tennessee.
She attended Principia School of St. Louis, Missouri, and Vanderbilt University and Peabody College of Nashville, Tennessee.
She was a member of Theta Phi and Tri Delta sororities.
Mrs. Sikes was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro.
She also served as a member of the Captain William Lytle Chapter of Daughters of the DAR.
She was involved in many other community activities including PTA and 4-H clubs.
In addition to her community activities, Mrs. Sikes taught horseback riding for over 50 years in Tennessee, at her own Fairfield Riding School in Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Sikes is preceded in death by her husband, McCulloch Hord Sikes in 2006.
She is survived by one son, LeWright Browning Sikes of Antioch; five daughters, Judith Keith Ferrell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mary McCulloch German of Mt. Juliet, Lucy Meriwether Karnes of Lawrenceburg, Martha Thompson Felker of Mt. Juliet, and Jane Warner Sikes of Elizabeth, Colorado; one sister, Jane Gevedon, Hemet, CA; a half-sister, Ellen Lambiris of Raleigh, North, Carolina; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Peggy Taylor Harrison
Peggy Taylor Harrison, 69, of Smyrna, died at StoneCrest Medical Center, Dec.12, 2004.
A native of Pennington Gap, Va., she had lived in Smyrna, for the past 35 years.
She was a Registered Nurse at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Emergency Room for 25 years and a member of the Smyrna First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Malvin Harrison, Sr.; and parents, Raymond Creed and Pansey Elizabeth Bailie Taylor.
Survivors include her two sons: Jim (Judy) Harrison, of Antioch, Brad (Patty) Harrison, of Murfreesboro; one daughter: Becky (Dave) Jenkins, of Smyrna; four brothers: Larry Taylor, of Fort Calhoun, Neb., Keith Taylor, of Church Hill, Rick Taylor of Pennington Gap, Va., Bob Taylor of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren: Jennifer Grace Jenkins, Brittany Bernal, Nathan Bailey and Matthew Hudgins.
Services for Peggy Taylor Harrison will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Jennings, and Ayers Chapel with Thad Collier officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Thelma Herrod McElroy
Services for Thelma Herrod McElroy, 88, of Lascassas, who died Saturday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Wylie David and Ruth Kane Craddock Herrod.
She is survived by daughters, Patsy (Frank) Morris, of Lascassas, Judy (Pettus) Read, of Rockvale, and Sandra (Terry) Parks, of Murfreesboro; brothers John Herrod, of Murfreesboro, and Wylie Herrod, of Antioch; sisters, Sara Davenport, of Lascassas, Ella Mae Mai, of Idaho; grandchildren, Will Morris, Katie Parks, Shane Read, Nina Read and Meredith Parks; great-grandchild, Avery Morris.
Mrs. McElroy was a member of the Lascassas Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Keele McElroy, who died in 1991.

Isa E. Wilson, 87, of Columbia died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Carmack Boulevard Church of Christ in Columbia with Brother Thomas Frierson officiating.
Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial.
A native of Giles County, Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Rena Moore.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Wilson; and daughters Frances Jean Calloway and Dorothy L. Walker.
Survivors include sons, William Terry, Willie Earl and Lewis Ray Wilson; daughters, Rena M. Watson and Alveda D. Beverley; brothers, Jack and Ed Moore; sisters, Willie Bea Smith, Zula Coble and Johnella Moore; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 until 8 p.m. at Baxter Bros. Funeral Home in Columbia.
