Mary H. Vaden
December 17, 1940 - June 11, 2013

Mary H. Vaden, age 72, LaVergne, TN, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 of RA, ITP and MDS (leukemia) among other illnesses at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamont “Monty” Cranston Vaden in 1982; her brothers, Kenneth Lee Graham in 1983; her grandmother, Lillian Graham in 1984; her earthly father, Warren H. Graham in 1993; her mother-in-law, Alma Goad in 1998; her mother, Louise C. Graham in 2007; her brother, W. Keith Graham in 2010; her brother, Bob Graham in 2011; her brother-in-law, Lee Gamblin in 2010; and her son-in-law, Gary D. Bebout, Sr. in 2000.
Mrs. Vaden is survived by her three daughters, Vickie Vaden Bebout Adams and her husband, Tony of Maryville, TN; Myra “Jo-Jo” Vaden Brannan and her husband, Mike of Murfreesboro; and Frankie Vaden Hatfield of Smyrna, TN; two sisters, Jackie Parker of AZ/CA and Kathy Gamblin of Flagstaff, AZ; sister-in-law, Sandy Graham of Nixa, MO; six grandchildren, Monta Vaden of Alcoa, TN, Leland Lamont “MontyLee” Bebout of Maryville, TN, Troy and Trey Brannan of Murfreesboro, and Austin and Rafferty Hatfield of Smyrna; and one great-grandchild, Ace Kent Hatfield.
Special people in her life include, Jean, Shane, and Scotty Prince, Sarah Lorance, Ted and Virginia Haislip, Will and Carolyn Roberts, all of LaVergne and Murfreesboro; Geneva Jennings of Lyons, GA, Naomi Holder Bailey and Dot Fauci of Phoenix, AZ, and a special niece, Terri Gammon of Lavergne, TN.
Mrs. Vaden worked in childcare all of her life. She owned and operated Banen’s Jollytime Nursery and Kindergarten in LaVergne, TN, from 1974-1985. She was a member of Unity Freewill Baptist Church (formerly New Life In Christ Community Church) where she volunteered in the Food Ministry.
Funeral services will be at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna on Thursday at 1:00PM. Brother David Humphrey will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Shane Prince, Scotty Prince, David Gammon, Troy Brannan, Trey Brannan, MontyLee Bebout, Austin Hatfield and Rafferty Hatfield will serve as pallbearers. Monta Vaden, Terri Gammon, Jean Prince, Pastor David Humphries will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Vaden requested no flowers, plants or figurines. Instead, please make a donation in her honor to the Unity Freewill Baptist Church.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna.

Joe James White was born August 14, 1932 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to the late Richard and Fannie Mai White. He departed this life on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 surrounded by his loved ones at Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
Joe and his twin brother, Jesse James attended the public schools in Murfreesboro, and Rutherford County, and graduated from Holloway High School. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour at an early age and joined Mount Zion Primitive Church under the pastorate of Elder A. L. Foster. Both parents were active members, serving as ushers and members of the choir. His father later became a Deacon and Superintendent of the Sunday School. Joe James White served in the United States Army and was based primarily in Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Germany. He achieved the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal upon being honorably discharged.
Immediately following active duty in the military, he joined the staff of Rutherford County Hospital and worked diligently until his retirement. He also was a long-term employee at General Electric Corporation until retirement in the early 1990s. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Jesse James White, and his son, Jackie Napolean White. Joe is cherished in loving memory by his wife, Annie Martin White; his faithful sister, Gracie Turner of Murfreesboro, a step-sister, Hattie (James) Browder of Nashville; three step-daughters, Diane (Thomas) Davis, Robbin Williams, and Brenda Watkins; two sisters-in-law, Blanche Matthews and Margaret Anne Martin. He also leaves four nieces, Gloria (Raymond) Bonner, Sissie (Joe) Rich, Sylvia Buggs, and Jewel Moore of Nashville and two nephews, Ronnie Davis and Randal (Kimberly) Turner of Washington, D.C. and many other cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Brooks Wilkins, Jr.

Wilkins, Jr., Brooks, age 52, of Milton, died Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Funeral services Saturday 1:00 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Dean Sisk officiating, burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Friday 4-8 pm in the chapel. He was a native of Davidson Co. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Kerr Wilkins, children, April and Christopher Wilkins, Christopher and Caroline Reeves, parents, Glenn and Nellie Wilkins, Sr. Sister, Debbie Harlan of Lebanon, brother, Steven Wilkins of Bowling Green, KY nephew, Tim Harlan and niece Katy Wilkins. Mr. Wilkins was a member of Belle Aire Baptist Church and was Special Agent on the Middle Tennessee Criminal Investigative Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation since 2004. He was instrumental in the inception on new programs at the TBI, such as Amber Alert and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. He graduated from John Overton High School in 1973, and was an Eagle Scout through Boy Scouts of America. He was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate Arts Degree in Law Enforcement. Mr. Wilkins was a 30 year veteran of law enforcement, having served for the Middle Tennessee State Police Department and the Murfreesboro Police Department and was named Officer of the Year in Murfreesboro in 1985. He was a certified instructor for Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, a member of the S.W.A.T. Team and Field Training Officer for the new recruits for the Murfreesboro Police Department. Mr. Wilkins enjoyed outdoor activities including running and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was an outstanding TBI employee; dependable, trustworthy and dedicated to seeking justice for the residents of the State of Tennessee. He will be sorely missed.

Betty L. Walker, age 97, of Smyrna, TN, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013. A native of Medina, TN, she was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Hardy West. Mrs. Walker was also preceded in death by her husband, B.C. Walker who died in 1993.
Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Ray Morris of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, Sheree Bingham and her husband Boyd of Robertsdale, AL; Kerry Morris and his wife Jill of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Lyndsay Allison, Rachel Watkins and her husband Joseph, Austin Morris and his wife Kadi, and Tyler Morris; great-great-grandchildren, Chase and Brady Allison.
Funeral service will be 6:00 PM Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Brother Darrel Whaley officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Hopewell Cemetery in Medina, TN with Boyd Bingham, Benny Sumrall, Jack Statham, Kerry Morris, Joseph Watkins, and Austin Morris serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Walker was a member of Kingdom Ministries and retired from H.I.S. after 28 years of service.

Campbell, Elise

Campbell, Elise, age 82, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday. Funeral services Saturday 1:00 p.m. Dilton Church of Christ with Bro. Nadeem Sabir and Bro. Joe Woodside officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family Friday 4- 8 p.m. in the chapel. She was a native of Clay County and the daughter of the late Lee and Roxie Lancaster. She is survived by two daughters and sons in law Betty and Jim Smith of Murfreesboro and Anna and Larry Williams of Lebanon; a son and daughter in law Kenneth and Nancy Campbell of Murfreesboro; brothers Hubert and Sue Lancaster of Moss, Eulis and Mabel Lancaster of Tampa, FL, Edward and Pearl Lancaster of Akron, OH, Edgar and Ann Lancaster of Hendersonville; sisters Grace Ervin of Smyrna and Alene Gray of Celina; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Medford Campbell and brothers Hobert, Herbert and Donald Lancaster and sisters Hazel Crowder and Hettie Collins. She was a member of the Dilton Church of Christ and a homemaker.

Al C. Mifflin, III

Mifflin, III, Al C., age 69, of Nashville, died Wednesday. He was a native of Murfreesboro and the son of the late Al C. and Kate Currin Bell Mifflin, Jr. Funeral services Saturday 4 p.m. Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, with Reverend Michael O’Bannon officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family Saturday 2-4 pm before the services in the chapel. He is survived by his wife Ann Willis Mifflin; two daughters and sons in law Currin and Randy Kozak of Franklin and Rae and Randy Bryan of New Orleans, LA; a brother and sister in law Robert Bell and Mary Dodd Mifflin of Murfreesboro; grandchildren Philip, David and Matthew Kozak and Margaret Ann, Virginia and Lucy Bryan.He attended Training School and was a 1956 graduate of Central High School. He graduated Vanderbilt University in 1960 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was a retired Business Consultant and a member of First United Methodist Church. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Pkwy, Marietta, GA 30067.

Warner, Martha Jane

Warner, Martha Jane, age 77, of Murfreesboro, died Wednesday at her home. Funeral services Sunday 1 pm Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Dr. James Clardy, Rev. George Jones will officiate. Visitation with the family Saturday 4–8 pm in the chapel. Graveside services Sunday 3 pm Beech Cemetery, Sumner County. She was a native of Sumner County and the daughter of the late Herschel and Willie Patton Ketring. Survived by her loving husband of 53 years: Jere Warner, son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Barbara Warner of Tampa, FL, daughter: Suzanne Warner of Nashville, sister: Sarah Wright of Dickson, TN, and 2 grandchildren: Will and Caitlin Warner of Tampa, FL. Mrs. Warner was a member of the St. Marks United Methodist Church, the Don Emerson Sunday School Class and a former member of Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She grew up in the Shackle Island Community in Sumner County. She received her B.S. Degree in Business from MTSU and retired from Riverdale High School where she had been a devoted Vocational Office Education Teacher for 18 years before her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the Retired Teachers Association. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bromley, Chuck Miller, Bill Miller, John Harrison, Bill Jones, and Dr. Nate Schott. Blair, Charles Allison

Blair, Charles Allison, age 75, of Nashville, died Friday. He was a native of Rutherford County, and the son of the late W. W. and Ruby Hayes Blair. Funeral Services will be 2:30 Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Bro. Chris Smith will officiate. Burial in Mapleview Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Vera Jean McLaughlin Blair, daughter and son-in-law: Carol and Keith Mabry of Brentwood, granddaughter: Heather (Russ) Clendenin of Memphis. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by a son: Don Allison Blair who died in 2005. Mr. Blair was a member of the Church of Christ and a 1950 graduate of Smyrna High School. Mr. Blair served in the U.S. Army and was retired from A T & T. Active Pallbearers will be Keith Mabry, Russ Clendenin, Kirk Donegan, Claude Hayes, Dennis Blair, Scott Ellis, Robert Gossett, and Silas Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Henry Harrell, Billy Bob Hughey, Charles Felts, Frank Johns, Tommy Floyd, Printess Fulton, Bernard Tabors, Kenneth Morgan, and Tractor Friends. Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Sunday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

Donald Dickinson
June 2, 1929 - June 9, 2013

Donald Warren Dickinson, Sr., age 84, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, died Sunday June 9, 2013. Mr. Dickinson was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Becker, and Carolyn Verhoff Dickinson, and his wife Jane Carolyn Dinkins Dickinson. Mr. Dickinson was a member of Green Valley Community Church in Placerville, California. He was a Graduate of DePauw University with a BA in 1952, and then joins the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. He was a graduate of Indiana University with MBA 1956.
Mr. Dickinson had worked for Union Carbide, in New York, Product Manager with Mitchum Brothers Cosmetics in Paris, Tennessee, Director of State Industries for the State of Tennessee. County Clerk for the City and County of San Francisco, California.
He was past master of San Francisco Masonic Lodge 120 in San Francisco. He was past Venerable Master, and 33rd Degree, in San Francisco Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, Ben Ali Shrine, DeMolay Honorary Legion of Honor and Cross of Honor, Placerville Elks Club, Placerville Rotary Club. Former member of Pairs Rotary Club and Elks Club. He was Treasurer of Troop 15 Boy Scouts of America San Francisco.
Mr. Dickinson was Chairman Henry County, Tennessee Republican Party, Chairman 7th Tennessee Congressional District Republican Party, Member of Henry County Tennessee County Court, and Justice of the Peace Henry County. Chair Planning Commission, Paris TN. Marriage Commissioner City and County of San Francisco.

Funeral service will be 5:00PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Leland McReynolds will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton, New Jersey.
Mr. Dickinson is survived by son, Donald Warren Dickinson, Jr. of Murfreesboro; daughter, Carolyn Jane Daly of Glendale, California; grandchildren, Christopher Daly and wife Amber, Zachary Daly, Mickey Daly.
Visitation will be 3:00PM to 5:00PM Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
