He died on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 in the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, surrounded by his beloved family.
“Chico”, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends made his living as a roofer for the Home Roofing Company and specialized in commercial roofing projects.
His expertise in roofing was the foundation for him to transfer his skills as an all around handyman.
A true “Mr. Fix-It”, he made sure that everything was in good working order and he preferred to fix something himself instead of lending his tools and supplies to others.
He was not fond of borrowing anything and didn’t really like for others to borrow anything from him.
Fishing, playing pool and maintaining his yard were several of his passions.
His yard was always freshly manicured and the hedges were always meticulously trimmed.
He was also a jokester, at heart and loved to tell jokes that kept his family and friends entertained.
He was a dedicated husband for 47 years to his beloved wife, Ethel, a devoted father to his son, John Louis Marble, Jr. and his daughter, Deborah (Buddy) Newman, a loving brother to his sister, Georgia Alexander; his twin sister, Louise Marble and his brothers, Sam Marble and Jessie Marble. With the exception of his brother, Sam Marble, who lives in Rochester, New York, his wife, children and siblings all reside in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
“Chico” was also a doting grandfather to his grandchildren.
His younger granddaughters, called him “John John” and he called them “the little bitty ones” – even though they are now in their 20’s.
His memory will be cherished by a host of many other family members and friends.
