John Lewis Shires
Services for John Lewis Shires, 76, Murfreesboro, who died today, July 21, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Pleas Hampton and the Rev. John Euton will officiate.
A native of Missouri, his parents were the late John Shires and Lora Bruce Shires, and his wife was the late Lera Jerningan Shires.
He is survived by three sisters, Letha Hopkins, Wanda L. Blythe, both of Murfreesboro, and Lorene Davis of Peoria, Ill.
A member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam war, he was also a member of Sam Davis Masonic Lodge No. 0661, Al Menah Shriners Temple, Murfreesboro Commandry.
Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with visitation from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

James W.R. Kelly
Graveside services for James W.R. Kelly, 82, Community Care of Rutherford County, Murfreesboro, who died there Saturday, July 18, after an extended illness, are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Nashville.
His parents were the late Jake Kelly and Emily Kelly.
He is survived by a brother, Fred Kelly of Bruceton; and a half sister, Carrie Wilkes of Huntington.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer, he was a native of Huntington.
The body will be at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home until time for services.

Mary E. McKenzie
Services for Mary Elizabeth McKenzie, 75, Murfreesboro, who died Sunday, July 19, at Boulevard Terrace Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Bishop Johnny Cherry will officiate.
A native of Jackson, her parents were the late James Andrew Feuerstacke and Lurlene Sweeney Feuerstacke.
She is survived by two daughters, Lee Tidwell, Carolyn Curtis, both of Murfreesboro; two sons, Andy McKenzie of Paris, Tenn., Mitch McKenzie of Smyrna; a sister, Frances Bergeron of Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, Joe Feuerstacke of Memphis; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Boys & Girls Club, or to the Children's Discovery House.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Emma J. Black
Services for Mrs. Emma J. Black, 85, of Murfreesboro, who died Thursday, July 16, are scheduled for noon Monday at Mt. Zion Barfield M.B. Church on Barfield Road in Murfreesboro, with the Rev. Cecil Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Black was a native of Rutherford County.
She is survived by her husband, Will Black; a son, Stanley Childress of Maine; a daughter, Jimmie Lee Fowler of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Alberta Blackman of Murfreesboro, and Mattie Mae Howse of Nashville; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Black was a member of the Mt. Zion Barfield M.B. Church.
Visitation with family will begin today at Hellum Funeral Home at 611 S. Highland Ave. from 4-7 p.m. Visitation is also scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Barfield M.B. Church.

Aaron Miller
Services for Aaron "Richie" Miller, 21, of Murfreesboro, who died Saturday, July 18, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Cemetery in Cleveland, Tenn.
A native of Bradley County, Tenn., he was the son of Vicci Miller of Cleveland, Tenn., and Alan Miller of Murfreesboro.
He is survived by his parents; stepmother, Beverly Miller of Murfreesboro; sister, Valerie Miller of Murfreesboro; and grandparents, Hoyt and Wanda Brewer and Viola Miller.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of Riverdale High School and employee of Doug Tedder Heating & Air.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday after 10 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Winnie Comer
Services for Winnie Lee Hall Comer, 100, of the Silver Hill community, who died Saturday, July 18, at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Home, are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home with Wendell Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
A native of Wilson County, Mrs. Comer was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hall and Cora Alice Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, M.W. Comer, and two sons, John L. Comer and Henry M. Comer.
She is survived by three daughters, Hester Lane of Vine community, Callie Rhodes of Lascassas community, and Alma Ezzelle of Murfreesboro; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Comer was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Rutherford County. She was a member of the Vine Church of Christ.
Visitation with the family is scheduled from 4-9 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Roy Carmick McClaran, 88, Glen Oak Nursing Home, Shelbyville, who died of a stroke Thursday, July 16, at Bedford County General Hospital, were held 10 a.m. today in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Perry Muse officiating.
His parents were the late Edward Watson McClaran and Sarah Hudson McClaran.
Survivors include a brother, Woodrow McClaran of Murfreesboro; a niece; and two nephews.
A member of the Baptist church, he was a retired farmer.

A member of the Middle Tennessee Baptist Church and a native of Davidson County, he had lived here most of his life. He was a student at Holloway High School.

A native of Bishop, Auckland, England, she had lived here the past 20 years. She was a homemaker.
