Services for Veronica Shivers West, 87, Murfreesboro, who died Monday, Aug. 31, are set for 1 p.m. Thursday at West End United Methodist Church, Nashville, with the Rev. George Jones and Andrew Henry officiating.
Her husband was the late William J. West.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula W. Ponath of Murfreesboro, Margaret W. Sturgis of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Jim Sturgis Jr., Angela S. Medina, Brian Ponath and Bill Ponath.
A retired teacher in Nashville schools, she moved to Murfreesboro and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Virginia Association, Women's Club of Nashville, West End United Methodist Church and St. Marks United Methodist Church.

Blanche C. Brown
Services for Mrs. Blanche Colleen Horn Brown, 95, Huntsville, Ala., who died at home Tuesday, Sept. 1, after an extended illness, are set for 1 p.m. Thursday at Jennings & Ayers chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Craig Green will officiate.
Her parents were the late Bert Daniel Horn and Adella Green Henry Horn, and her husband was John Thomas Brown, who died Dec. 9, 1997.
She is survived by a son, John Douglas Brown of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Susan Brows Robinson, Michael Douglas Brown, both of Huntsville; and one great-grandchild.
A native of Kentucky, she had lived most of her life in Lascassas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lascassas United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held from noon until service time Thursday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home.

Services for Mrs. Dorothy Medley Sanders, 74, of Sulphur Springs Road, who died Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center after an extended illness, are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Jennings & Ayers chapel with burial in Blues Hill Cemetery, Warren County. Her parents were the late Joseph A. Medley and Sara Elsie H. Medley, and her husband was Jack H. Sanders, who died in 1989.
She is survived by a son, Jack M. Sanders of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Sara Miller of Chattanooga, Clivia Herrin of Murfreesboro; a brother, Alex Medley of Murfreesboro; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A member of the Church of Christ and a treasurer with the VFW Auxiliary, she was retired from National Savings Life Insurance Co.

Mary Margaret Cox
Memorial services for Mary Margaret Cox, 82, Orlando, Fla., who died Friday, Aug. 28, are set for Thursday at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home in Orlando.
She is survived by her husband, Sanford Cox; a son, Dr. William Cox of Orlando; a daughter, Carol Clark of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Born in Union City, she had moved here in 1941 and taught music at public schools and in her home. She was a member and organist at St. Marks Methodist Church and also a member of Nashville chapter of American Guild of Organists.

M. Pat Blose, Murfreesboro, died Saturday, Aug. 29, from results of an auto accident in Murfreesboro.
A celebration of her life will be held for the family 4 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church.

Thurman Pearcy
Services for Thurman Pearcy, 75, of Haynes Drive, who died at home Tuesday, Sept. 1, after an extended illness, are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Jennings & Ayers chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Woodrow Medlock and the Rev. David Pitman will officiate.
His parents were the late Palmer Pearcy and Nancy Snow Pearcy.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Duke Pearcy of Murfreesboro; three sons, Barry Pearcy, Randy Pearcy, both of Murfreesboro, David Pearcy of Smithville; a daughter, Betty Finley of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Betty Hopkins, Ruby Mayers, both of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A member of Bellwood Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was retired from the Carnation Milk Co., and later from the York VA Medical Center.

Joseph Byron Barkley
Services for Joseph Byron Barkley, 78, Waveland, Miss., who died Wednesday, Sept. 2, at his daughter's home here, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Lutheran Church of the Pines, Waveland, with burial in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Bay St. Louis, Miss.
A native of Detroit, Mich., his parents were the late Charles A. Barkley and Williamenia Goseline Barkley, and his wife was the late Helen Stos Barkley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Barkley.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine B. Lombardi of Murfreesboro, Cathleen B. Deamer of Fairfax, Va.; a son, Timothy Barkley of Slidell, Miss.; a sister, Catherine Eagle of Beaverton, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
A member of the Lutheran Church of the Pines and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2539 in Gulfport, Miss., he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He had been awarded the U.S. Navy commendation medal.
He was a hospice volunteer with Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 tonight at Rieman Funeral Home, Bay St. Louis, and also one hour before services at the church.
Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Services for Earl "Junior'' Handley Jr., 62, Rockvale, formerly of Daytona Beach, Fla., who died at home Thursday, Sept. 3, are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Crescent Church of Christ with Darrly Lewis officiating.
His parents were the late Early Handley and Allie Taylor Handley.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Bryant of Rockvale, Karen Manus of Murfreesboro; a brother, Willie D. Handley of Murfreesboro; and four grandchildren.
A member of the Baptist church, he was a former employee of Byrn Motor Co. here, and was a retired employee of the Murfreesboro Fire Department.
