Wenona T. Vanatta
Services for Wenona Taylor Vanatta, 75, Smithville, who died Thursday, Oct. 1, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center after a short illness, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with burial in Ivy Bluff Cemetery.
Born in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late James Taylor and Ollie Mae Hill Rippy. She was preceded her in death by a son, Jimmy Vanatta.
She is survived by her husband, Shearlie Vanatta of Smithville; a son, Buddy Vanatta of Woodbury; three daughters, Judy Baughcum of Atlanta, Linda Lively of Nashville and Cheryl Judkins of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Woodbury and Florence Rippy of Nashville; 10 grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.
She was a member of the Woodbury United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Anzle Hickman
Services for Mr. Anzle Hickman, 72, of 55001 Old Nashville Highway, who died Friday at his residence are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Jennings & Ayers Chapel, followed by burial in Coleman Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Dillon officiating.
Mr. Hickman was the son of the late Winfred James Hickman and Jetty Groover Hickman. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Raines Hickman; six sons, Anzle Hickman Jr. of Manchester, Jimmy Hickman and Bobby Hickman, both of Murfreesboro, Ricky Hickman of Missouri, Billy Hickman of Manchester and Ronnie Hickman of Murfreesboro; three daughters, Shirley Davis of Knoxville, Maxine Sellers of Manchester and Carol Rogers of Lewisburg; a brother, L.B. Hickman of Salem, Mo.; a sister, Layon Pike of Missouri; 17 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hickman was a native of Lusterville, Mo., who had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 25 years. He was a heavy equipment operator, and a member of the Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be conducted from 4-8 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home.

Emma Jain M. Smith
Services for Mrs. Emma Jain Mack Smith, 81, who died Wednesday at Boulevard Terrace Nursing Center are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Barfield Baptist Church, followed by burial in Lovvorn Cemetery, with the Rev. Cecil Parrish officiating.
Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters, Annie Mary Smith of Murfreesboro, Carolyn Arena Wallace of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Evelyn S. Manning of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, the Rev. Joe Mack of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and Cecil I. Mack of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Susye M. Rucker and Arena M. Tillage, both of Murfreesboro; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Barfield Baptist Church. The body will lie in state Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Scales & Sons Funeral Home.

Jessie Mann
Services for Mrs. Jessie Arnette Mann, 87, of Eventide Drive, Murfreesboro, who died Saturday, Oct. 3 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Leamon Flatt will officiate.
Mrs. Mann was the daughter of the late James L. and Elizabeth Dismukes Arnette. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. Mann, in 1977.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen Upchurch of Murfreesboro; a brother, Ben Arnette of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Ruth Avaritt of Murfreesboro and Miriam Woodson of Rockvale; and one granddaughter.
Mrs. Mann was a native of the Porterfield community. She was a member of Kingwood Heights Church of Christ and a graduate of MTSU.
Visitation with the family is set for 3 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse J. Elder Sr.; four daughters, Ann Wade, Kay Elder, Arleen McDermott and Annette Elder; four sons, Jesse Elder Jr., Kenneth Elder, Tyrone Elder and Rex Elder; eight sisters, Mary Crawford, Martha James, Sylvia Batts, Katie Swader, Carolyn McClellan, Marion Knox, Delores McCraney and Charlotte Ervin; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Marjorie Alice Cox
Services for Marjorie Alice Coulter Cox, 75, of Lynn Street, who died Sunday, Oct. 4, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. F. Murray Mathis will officiate.
She was the daughter of Frank Houston and Amelia Edwards Coulter, and she was the widow of William Theodore Cox Sr., who died in 1996.
She is survived by five sons, Dan Cox of Fostoria, Kan., Frank Cox of Clarksville, Roger Cox of Murfreesboro, William Cox Jr. of Murfreesboro, and Mark Cox of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Alice Montgomery of Valdosta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Third Baptist Church.
Born in Muncie, Ind., she lived in Murfreesboro for the past 38 years. She was a retired nurse.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

A native of Rutherford County, She was the daughter of the late T.R. and Alice Vaughn and was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson Lester, a daughter, Marie Perryman and a son, Lloyd Lester.
Survivors include a son, Sammy Lester of Murfreesboro; a sister, Lela Huddleston of Murfreesboro, a brother, Hollis Vaughn of Murfreesboro; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

A native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, she was a retired county bookkeeper.
She was a member of East Main Church of Christ.
