Services for Richard L. Cates, 66, of Smyrna, who died Monday, Oct. 19, at his home, were 12:30 p.m. today at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, with burial in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, McCrory Lane, Nashville. The Rev. Marion Arbuckle officiated.
Born in Nashville, he was the son of James Oliver and Dolly Gilliam Cates.
He is survived by a daughter, Anne Cheek of Murfreesboro.
He was a member of the Mt. View Baptist Church and was a retired Tennessee state employee. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Visitation was Thursday night.

Mary Elizabeth Wilson
Graveside services for Mary Elizabeth Wilson, 82, of East Bell Street, who died Thursday, Oct. 22, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Cemetery.
Born the Patterson community of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Robert and Eulala Vaughn Patterson and was the widow of James "Monk" Wilson, who died in 1994.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-niece.
She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, a homemaker and a graduate of Central High School.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home.

Fairy Lou Harris
Services for Fairy Lou Harris, 74, of Grantland Avenue, who died Thursday, Oct. 22, at her home, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Doyle Sadler and Donnie Heath will officiate.
A Christiana native, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Bonnie Snow Victory and was the widow of Gilbert Harris.
She is survived by three sons, Terry Harris of Murfreesboro, Earl Harris of Beech Grove, Charles Harris of Smyrna; two daughters, Judy Gambill and Joyce Brawner, both of Murfreesboro; a brother, Willie Victory Jr. of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Mildred Parker of Murfreesboro and Dorothy Clark of Ft. Worth, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Gossburg Community Church in Beechgrove.
Memorials may be made to the Jesse C. Beesley Animal Humane Foundation or to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Services for Mr. James William Gordon, 78, of Owensboro, Ky., who died Thursday of an extended illness are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Living God P.G.T. in Owensboro, with the Rev. Richard L. McFarland officiating.
Mr. Gordon is survived by two sons, James W. Gordon Jr. of Chicopee, Mass., and Gregory C. Gordon of Owensboro; two brothers, the Rev. Richard W. Gordon of Murfreesboro, the pastor of First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, and the Rev. George C. Gordon of Owensboro.
Visitation with the family will be held Monday from noon until 1 p.m. at the Church of the Living God P.G.T., 2319 W. 10th St. in Owensboro, Ky.

Mary E. Sanders
Services for Miss Mary Elizabeth Sanders, 96, of 4343 Lebanon Road in Hermitage, who died Thursday at McKendree Village in Hermitage, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Jennings & Ayers Chapel, followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. William Lovell officiating.
Miss Sanders was the daughter of the late Robley Elwood and Annie Randolph Sanders. She is survived by cousins Sarah Jones and Sally Wall, both of Murfreesboro; and by two nephews, Jimmy DeLuca and Elwood DeLuca.
Miss Sanders was a member of Arlington United Methodist Church in Nashville, and the Susie Mitchell Sunday School Class. A native of the Walter Hill community, she lived 50 years in New York City before moving back to Nashville 20 years ago. She attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, was a member of the Bush Conservatory in Chicago, and performed with the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She was a lifetime member of the D.A.R. in New York, where she was employed as a legal assistant with a law firm.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Arlington United Methodist Church, 1360 Murfreesboro Road, Nashville, 37217.

Charles Grizzle
Services for Mr. Charles "Buddy" Grizzle, 39, of Liberty, who died Saturday at Columbia Stones River Hospital as the result of an automobile accident, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodbury Funeral Home with burial in Sycamore Cemetery.
His father was the late Charles Grizzle.
Mr. Grizzle is survived by his mother, Betty Mayo Grizzle of Woodbury; one daughter, Kimberly Gayle Grizzle of Woodbury; four brothers, Eddie, Larry, Jerome and Steve Grizzle, all of Woodbury; and two sisters, Renee Arnold and Vanessa Grizzle of Woodbury.
A native of Cannon County, he was disabled and affiliated with the Church of Christ.
Visitation with the family was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. today.

Anthony S. Bolek
Services for Anthony S. Bolek, 60, of Eagleville, who died Sunday, Oct. 25, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Rev. Wiatt Funk officiating.
Burial will be at Rocky Glade Cemetery.
Bolek is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Bolek; two sons, Mark Bolek of Rockvale, Jeffery Bolek of Smyrna; two daughters, Susan Burrows of Eagleville, Colleen Adams of Springfield; a brother, Benny Bolek of West Royal Palm, Fla.; a sister, Kathleen Smith of Port Huron, Mich; and eight grandchildren.
Born in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of Anthony and Genevive Hulawatie Bolek. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and was an engineer at the France Company in Fairview.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today and from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro.

She was the daughter of Wells and Lillie Bowling Tilford and the widow of J. Loughry Northcutt.
She is survived by three sons, Foster W. Northcutt of Woodbury, Dixon Lyle Northcutt of Brentwood, George W. Northcutt of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two daughters, Jean Alexander of Smithville, Carol Banta of Montgomery, Texas; one sister, Tommie Lee Milligan of Murfreesboro; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a member of Woodbury First Baptist Church and the retired owner of J. L. Northcutt Grocery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.

Gillis is survived by two sons, Jimmy "Bo Bo" Tyson of Murfreesboro and Jessie Gillis Jr. of Humboldt; and a daughter, Bonnie K. Webb of Humbolt.
