Nettie Peeler Baker
Services for Nettie Peeler Baker, 90, who died Monday, Nov. 2, at the home of her daughter, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Centerville, with burial in Centerville Cemetery. The Rev. Arnold Porter and the Rev. Jay Lauritsen will officiate.
A native of Hickman County, she was a daughter of the late Chesley W. and Hattie Wade Peeler, and the widow of James C. Baker, who died in 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeannette Rolater of Murfreesboro and a sister, Lena Mae Brown of Centerville.
She and her husband were owners and operators of Bakers 5 & 10 in Centerville for 30 years before her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Centerville, and served as treasurer of the Thomas Stewart Easley Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
She was a 1928 graduate of MTSU.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, and from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Centerville.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Murfreesboro, or the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, Centerville.

Reams Duggin
Services for Reams Duggin, 74, Woodbury, who died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center of complications from Lou Gehrig disease, will be 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Bobby Zumbro and Herb Alsup will officiate.
A native of Cannon County, he was the son of the late Johnny Duggin and Alean Vinson Duggin, and was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene King Duggin.
He is survived by his wife, Dot Powers Duggin; a son, Jimmy Duggin of Woodbury; a daughter, Carolyn Schwartz of Woodbury; a brother, Oran Duggin; two sisters, Omijean Shoppe of Port Orange, Fla., and Teena Smithson of Woodbury; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was a former mayor and alderman in Woodbury and was the retired owner of Woodbury Small Engines.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodbury.
Visitation is after 10 a.m. today and Friday until time of the services at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Herman P. Taylor
Services for Herman P. "Rusty" Taylor, 74, Rockvale, who died Wednesday, Nov. 4, at his home, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Vance King will officiate.
He was the son of the late F.I. and Mangus Pucket Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Alexander Taylor; a son, Kenneth Lowe of Rockvale; a daughter, Dolores Phy of Cookeville; and six grandchildren.
A 1941 graduate of Rockvale High School, he was a retired General Electric employee.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

She was a member of Woodbury Road Baptist Church.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a homemaker and was formerly an employee of Goldsteins.

Valter Turner Lorance
Graveside services for Valter Turner Lorance, 93, of Woodbury Health Center, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, at Columbia Stones River Hospital in Woodbury, after an extended illness, will be 2:30 p.m. today at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Paul Cooper and Herb Alsup will officiate.
He was the son of the late Jimmy Bridges Lorance and Ellen Travis Lorance, the stepson of the late Carrie Keel Lorance and was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Lorance.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Merritt Lorance of Murfreesboro; two sons, Dorris Lorance of Murfreesboro and David Lorance of Woodbury; a daughter, Sue Hollis of Murfreesboro; a stepson, Timothy Waters of Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Shawn Strack of Sheboygan, Wis.; a brother, Michael Lorance of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Nannie Lee Hubbard of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Rachel Rhoads of Lascassas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Woodbury Church of Christ.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a retired supervisor for Carnation.
Visitation will be after noon today. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Elizabeth Avent
Services for Mary Elizabeth Mayes Avent, 84, Nashville and formerly of Rockwood, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be 3 p.m. EST at Rockwood United Methodist Church, Rockwood, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Rockwood.
She was the daughter of the late Clay and Rachel Mary Phillips Evans, was the widow of Thomas H. Mayes, who died in 1962, and John R. Avent, who died in 1988, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Mayes Huskey.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas H. Mayes of Rockwood, John B. Mayes of Knoxville; a daughter Rachel Mayes Givens of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and taught until retirement in the Rockwood City School System. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Sigma Kappa Sorority and the Business and Professional Women's Club.
She was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday at Rockwood United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. until service time. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

She was the daughter of the late Willie Francis Helton.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Don Thomas Sr.; a son, Donnie Thomas Jr., of Smyrna; two daughters, Fran Hixson and Debbie Rains, both of Murfreesboro; and four grandchildren.
She was a member of East Main Church of Christ and was an MDA at Cason Lane Academy.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
