Ernest V. Newman
Graveside services for Ernest V. "Banny" Newman, 74, Fayetteville, who died Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Harton Regional Medical Center, Tullahoma, will be 1:30 p.m. today at Crestview Cemetery, Guntersville, Ala.
He was the son of the late Walter D. and Lieu Ellen Cooley Newman.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rucker Newman of Fayetteville; two sons, Vann Newman and Mike Newman, both of Guntersville; two stepsons, Steve Honey and Van Cook, both of Murfreesboro; a brother, George Newman of Guntersville; a sister, Carolyn Plemmons of Guntersville; four grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
He coached high school football in Jacksonville, Ala., from 1949 to 1963, was superintendent of schools in Guntersville until 1980, then became superintendent of city schools in Fayetteville.
He was veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a charter member of the Guntersville Rotary Club and a past president of the Fayetteville Rotary Club. He was a Mason.
He was a member of the Baptist church.
Visitation was held Thursday in Fayetteville and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 today at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.

Aaron Waller
Services for Aaron Waller, 17, of Murfreesboro, who died Friday, Nov. 20, in an auto accident, are scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with graveside services to take place at 3 p.m. Monday at Durham Cemetery in Galatia, Ill., with the Rev. Gene Wise officiating.
Mr. Waller is survived by his mother, Auna Arms Waller of Murfreesboro; his father, Alan Waller of Lebanon; by two sisters, including Emily Waller of Lebanon, and Kate Waller of Murfreesboro; a half brother, Bob Waller of Lebanon; a step-sister, Holly McElhaney of Lebanon; and three grandparents, including Dr. and Mrs. Grover Gene Sloan of Harrisburg, Ill., and Geraldine Waller of Marion, Ill.
Mr. Waller was a native of Evansville, Ind. Visitation with the family will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.

Linda Armstrong
Graveside services for Mrs. Linda Johnson Armstrong, 57, of 421 Battle Ave., who died Saturday, Nov. 21, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center of heart failure, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Paul Gray Cooper will officiate.
Mrs. Armstrong was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lucille Jones Johnson, and was married to the late Clayton Horace Armstrong.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Armstrong Williams of Auburntown; and two sisters, Peggy Blanton and Shirley Luscinski, both of Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Armstrong was a native of Dekalb County, and lived most of her life in Rutherford County. She owned and operated the Armstrong Child Care Center of Murfreesboro, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today and until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home.

Felix Hayes
Services for Felix Hayes, 88, of Lebanon, who died Friday, Nov. 20, at Margie Anna Nursing Home in Lebanon are scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. at J.C. Hellum Funeral Home in Lebanon, followed by burial in the Greenwood Cemetery. Brewer Hall Jr. will officiate.
Mr. Hayes was the son of the late Hassie Hatton.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Hayes of Murfreesboro and Cecil Hayes of Manchester; and a daughter, Earline Sneed of Murfreesboro.
Visitation with the family will be held from 12-1 p.m. Monday at J.C. Hellum Funeral Home, Lebanon.

She is survived by a sister, Lizzie Smith; and by three brothers, Walter D. Smith, Marshall Smith and Johnnie Smith.

Mary McKnight
A memorial service for Mrs. Mary "Molly" McEttrick McKnight, 93, of Murfreesboro, who died Saturday, Nov. 21, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Rev. Wiatt Funk officiating.
Mrs. McKnight was a native of Brookline, Mass. and was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Madge Fogerty McEttrick.
She is survived by a daughter, Madge McKnight Lewis of Murfreesboro; two sons, Matt Doran McKnight III of Murfreesboro, and Edward "Ned" McKnight of Tampa, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
As a child, Mrs. McKnight was awarded the Humane Society National Award for Bravery for saving a child from drowning. She later won numerous swimming and diving awards.
After graduation from the Bouve School of Physical Education of Northeastern University, Mrs. McKnight became the head of the swimming and diving program at Ward Belmont School for Women in Nashville. She worked for the Tennessee Department of Human Services for 20 years, and later headed the Council of Social Services in Murfreesboro. She also served as the housemother for the Lambda Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity at MTSU.
She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and an avid golfer at Stones River Country Club, where she played until age 83. Memorials may be given to St. Rose Catholic Church or to Middle Tennessee Medical Center.
A rosary service for Mrs. McKnight is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, which will be followed by visitation in the Jo Call Room at St. Rose Church. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Paul R. Diehl
Paul R. Diehl, 89, of 1822 Graybar Lane, who died Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, was buried Saturday at Park Lawn Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, Pa. A memorial service will be held in Murfreesboro at a date to be announced later.
Mr. Diehl was born in Franklin County, Pa., and was the son of Curtis M. and Susan Pilgrim Diehl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther V. Diehl, who died in 1988, and a grandaughter, Les Diehl, who died in 1991.
He is survived by a son, Jack E. Diehl of Bowling Green, Ohio; two daughters, Joyce E. Sanders of Murfreesboro and Delana K. Sellers of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Diehl was a veteran of World War II and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.

Services for David Nathaniel Mitchell, 81, who died Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Tennessee Veteran's Home, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jennings & Ayers chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Revs. David Huffman and George Jones will officiate.
A native of Halls, he was the son of the late Hiram Nathaniel and Mary Jane Lusk Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lane Mitchell of Murfreesboro; two sons, Joseph L. Mitchell of Estill Springs and David B. Mitchell of Slidell, La.; a daughter, Marylyn Mitchell Caperton of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the owner of Hill Smith Pest and Termite Control Systems, past president of the Tennessee Pest Control Association and past president of the Better Business Bureau of Nashville.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

A native of Sandersville, Ga., he was the son of Mitchell and Ruby Lanier Creighton of Harrisburg, S.C.
He is survived by his wife, Selma Burgess Creighton; two daughters, Jennifer McKinney of Knoxville and Suzanne Creighton of Morristown; a son, Charles M. Creighton Jr. of Knoxville; his parents; and three sisters, Shirley Bruton of Collierville, Judy Hubbard of Atlanta, Ga., and Patty Allen of Harrisburg, N.C.
He was senior vice-president and general manager of Top Sellers Inc.
He was a member of River Rock Church.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
