Laura B. McPeak
Memorial services for Mrs. Laura B. McPeak, 96, Shelbyville, formerly of Murfreesboro, who died Thursday, June 4, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are set for 6 p.m. today at Howell-Lawrence Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with graveside services 11 a.m. Saturday in Willow Mount Cemetery. Randell Jernigan will officiate.
Her parents were the late Joseph Palmer and Mattie Wright Barrett, and her husband was Edgar McPeak, who died in 1976.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A member of the Fairlane Church of Christ, she was a retired seamstress.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nellie Marie Thomas
Services for Mrs. Nellie Marie Brown Thomas, Houston, Texas, who died there Thursday, June 4, after an extended illness, are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodbury Funeral Home chapel with burial in Thyatira Cemetery. The Rev. Edward Moore will officiate.
Her parents were the late Iva Rainwater Brown and Jeff Brown, and her husband was the late Ray Thomas.
She is survived by a son, Michael Ray Thomas of Winnipeg, Canada; a daughter, Colette Thomas Worm of Clarksville; three sisters, Charlene Mozley, Jessie Thompson of Sugarland, Texas, Lousie Antonelli of Galveston, Texas; and six grandchildren.
A member of Westminster United Methodist Church, she was a homemaker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Willette M. Barrett
Services for Mrs. Willette Mathis Barrett, 79, of Marshall Creek Road, Auburntown, who died Wednesday, June 3, at home after an extended illness, were held 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodbury Funeral Home chapel with burial in Odom Cemetery. Van Mathis and Cannie Leonard officiated.
Her parents were the late Rev. F.B. Mathis and Maggie Dodd Mathis, and her husband was the late Charlie Barrett.
She is survived by a son, Charles Barrett Jr. of Auburntown; five daughters, Charlotte Wimley, Joyce Fuller, both of Estill Springs, Ruth Jean Melton, Marie Groom, both of Nashville, Brenda Sue Watson of Readyville; a brother, Guy Mathis of Liberty; a sister, Lora Dell Vanderpool of Liberty; 12 grandchildren. 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A member of Auburn Baptist Church, she was a homemaker.
Visitation was held Wednesday at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Evelyn W. Copeland
Services for Mrs. Evelyn Welsh Copeland, 85, of Lynchburg, who died Thursday night in Lynchburg Nursing Center following an extended illness, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Jennings Funeral Home in Lynchburg, followed by burial in Lynchburg Cemetery.
Mrs. Copeland was a native of Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth Welsh. She is survived by her husband, Carl Copeland; a daughter, Betty Jane Walker of Auburn, Ala.; a son, Tom Copeland of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Hazel Clark of Fayetteville, and Lois Welsh of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Copeland was a homemaker and a retired business owner. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lynchburg for 60 years.

John Bailey

Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Hazel Bailey, and leaves behind other relatives.

Barbara Lucas
Services for Mrs. Barbara W. Lucas, 53, of 225 Josephine Drive, Christiana, who died Friday, June 5, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville from heart failure following an extended illness, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home with Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Bracken County, Ky., Mrs. Lucas was the daughter of the late Remmer Worksman and Mary Moford Worksman.
She is survived by her husband, John "Jay Bird" Lucas; a son, Rocky Lucas of La Vergne; two daughters, Rita Martin of Woodbury and Candi Lucas of Christiana; three stepdaughters, Christine Kerkover, Chanda Fedderke, and Heather Ott, all of Illinois; a brother, Charles Worksman of Milford, Ohio; a sister, Linda Essinger of Findlay, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker who lived in Rutherford County for the past 14 years.
Visitation with the family is from 4-8 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home.

Johnny Short
Services for Johnny Powell Short, 62, of 9918 Powell's Chapel Road, who died Friday, June 5, at his home from diabetes, are scheduled for 4 p.m. today at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home with Tommy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Short Family Cemetery in Walter Hill.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of Lillian Thompson Short and the late William Hollis Short.
He is survived by his mother; his wife, Marie Tucker Short; a son, William Short of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Debbie Honeycutt of Nashville; two sisters, Fay Black and Odelene Watson, both of Murfreesboro; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Short was a member of the Powell's Chapel Baptist Church, and was a bus driver for Rutherford County Schools for 31 years.
Jennings & Ayers is in charge of arrangements.

Lillie Stafford
Graveside services for Mrs. Lillie W. Stafford, 92, of Smyrna, who died Friday, June 5, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Knoxville, with the Rev. Milton Hicks officiating.
Mrs. Stafford was a former resident of Knoxville, and was preceded in death by her husband, the late Claude E. Stafford.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Brown of Heiskell, Tenn., and Ruth Letson of Smyrna; a brother, Howard B. White of Memphis; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Stafford was a member of First Baptist Church in La Vergne, and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 62 in Memphis. She was retired from St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
Visitation with the family is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Monday at McCarty Mortuary, 4004 Holston Drive, Knoxville.

Joe Barger
Services for Joe David Barger, 45, of Murfreesboro, who died Friday, June 5, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin with Doug Kallesen officiating. A graveside service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday in Milan, Tenn.
A native of Milan, Mr. Barger was the son of the late Canova and Nell Barger.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Mullins Barger; a son, David Barger; a daughter, Erin Barger, all of Murfreesboro; four brothers, Malcolm W. Moser of Jackson, Tenn., Robert Moser of Springfield, Mo., Paul Moser of Berwyn, Ill., and Jerry Wayne Barger of Gibson, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Barger was a maintenance technician with Southern Graphic, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a member of the V.F.W. He was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. today at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 3009 Columbia Ave., Franklin, which is in charge of arrangements.
