Alice Beatrice Posey
Services for Alice Beatrice Posey, 79, of Cookeville, who died Saturday, Dec. 19, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, were to be 1 p.m. today at the Whitson Funeral Home chapel with burial in Cookeville City Cemetery. Chuck Branch and Eugene Schmid officiated.
She was the daughter of the late Byrd Monroe and Vaden E. Green Nash.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Willard Posey; a son, James David Posey of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Nellie Diane Posey of Pensacola, Fla.; and a sister Marie Rice of Cookeville.
Whitson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Services for Void Volner Smith, 86, of Lavinia, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with burial in Lavinia Cemetery. Leon Jones will officiate.
She was the daughter of the late Fielder C. and Onie Brasher Volner and the widow of John H. Smith.
She is survived by a son, John Smith of Lavinia; a daughter, Carolyn Holmes of Murfreesboro; brothers, John W. Volner of Phoenix, Ariz., Marles Volner and Oteen Volner, both of Jackson; sisters, Inez Perry of Paradise Valley, Ariz., Roberta Creswell of Jackson; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Spring Creek Church of Christ.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Graveside services for Helen Cox Holder, 73, of La Vergne, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, at Southern Hills Medical Center, Nashville, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. John Euton will officiate.
She was the daughter of the late Horace M. and Minnie West Cox.
She is survived by her husband, John A. Holder; a daughter, Juanita Ringham of Smyrna; and grandchildren Misti Ringham and Jarred Ringham, both of Smyrna.
She was a member of the Nazarene church.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

Brian Mears
Graveside services for Brian Mears, 24, of Guy James Road, who died Sunday, Dec. 20, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center from injuries suffered in an automobile accident, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev H.E. Honea will officiate.
He was the son of Roy Mears and Brenda Gail Douglas Mears Talinda both of Murfreesboro.
He is survived by a son, Ryan Mears of Murfreesboro; a brother, Jason Mears of Shelbyville; sisters, Rebecca Greer of Murfreesboro, Jennifer Mears of Cookeville; a grandfather, J.W. Douglas of Murfreesboro; and a grandmother, Willie Mears of Murfreesboro.
He was the owner of an independent roofing business.
Jennings & Ayers is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Blackman Jr.
Services for Walter "Buster" Blackman Jr., 77, who died Sunday, Dec. 20 at VA Medical Center, Nashville, after an extended illness, will be noon Wednesday at Rucker Memorial Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Cross will officiate.
He was the son of Alberta Blackman and the late Walter Blackman Sr.
He is survived by brothers, A.G. Blackman, Wayne Blackman, Edward Shannon Blackman, all of Murfreesboro, Joseph Blackman of Dayton, Ohio; and sisters, Lillian King and Laura Sneed, both of Murfreesboro.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Michael Don Brandon
Services for Michael Don Brandon, 30, who died Monday, Dec. 21, at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, after an extended illness, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury.
He was the son of Don and Peggy Farless Brandon of Murfreesboro.
He is survived by a sister, Regina Joiner of Murfreesboro; and a niece, Emily Faith Joiner.
He was a graduate of and an assistant librarian at Middle Tennessee State University, and president of Writers Inc. at MTSU. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jesse Gilbert Travis
Services for Jesse Gilbert Travis, 87, of West Kingwood Drive, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, at NHC HealthCare of Murfreesboro after an extended illness, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Jennings & Ayers chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Owens will officiate.
He was the son of the late Jesse E. Travis and Suzanne Smithia Travis.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Hudson Travis; sons, Leonard L. Travis of Shelbyville, Franklin D. Travis of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was a former employee of Consumers Gas Company and a retired farmer. He attended Oakland Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Buford Vanatta
Services for Buford Neal Vanatta, 78, of Liberty, who died Tuesday, Dec. 22, at University Medical Center, Lebanon, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Upper Helton Baptist Church in Alexandria with burial in Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Thurman Seber will officiate.
He was the son of the late Clarence Vanatta and Tina Clayborn Vanatta.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Lee Robinson Vanatta; a son, Jerry Paul Vanatta of Watertown; daughters, Joyce Foutch of Alexandria, Patsy Nokes of Liberty, Kristie Cantrell of Smithville; half brothers, Ed Hill and Silas Vince Hill, both of Watertown; half sisters, Gertie McGee of Lebanon, Viola Davenport of Knoxville; and six grandchildren.
A native of Liberty, he was a veteran of World War II and worked for the Veterans Administration in the maintenance department as a painter for 26 years. He was a member and deacon of the Upper Helton Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Thursday and after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
