MARTHA JUNE HIGDON TATE, 75, of Memphis, died of heart failure Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Mass will be said at noon Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she was a communicant, with burial in Memorial Park. Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge. She was recently recognized for her work with the parish's jail ministry. Mrs. Tate, the widow of Fred H. Tate Jr., leaves two daughters, Terry Bacon and Martha Leigh Riley, two sons, Fred H. Tate III and Thomas 'Greg' Tate, and a sister, Ruth Prestipino, all of Memphis; a brother, Hillary Higdon of San Francisco, and 11 grandchildren.

WALTER 'HOT BAILEY' TATE, 78, of Memphis, retired mechanic help er from J. W. Owens, died of heart failure Wednesday at Heartland of Memphis. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church with burial at 2 p.m. in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. Jefferson Mortuary in Millington has charge. He was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Brighton and was an Army veteran. Mr. Tate, the husband of Catherine Tate, also leaves seven daughters, Mary K. White, Patricia Hunter, Sadie Hurd, Lillie Gossett and Carolyn Reeder, all of Memphis, Peggy Hill of Millington and Ceolia Julien of Columbus, Ga.; four sons, George Tate, Charles Tate and William Tate, all of Memphis, and Richard Tate of Harvey, Ill.; three sisters, Mable Johnson of Chicago, Ella N. Boxley and Minnie Steward, both of Humboldt, Tenn.; a brother, William Tate of Memphis, 150 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

DARNELL THOMPSON, 42, of 3622 Clearbrook, employee of FedEx and Arrow Electric, died of cancer Friday at Saint Francis Hospital. M. ATWOOD TRITT, 84, of Halls, Tenn., small-engine mechanic, died of heart failure Friday in Brownsville, Tenn. WILLIAM PIERCE TUCKER, 90, of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Memphis, former professor-emeritus of political science and Latin-American Government at Texas Tech, former professor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras and Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., where he was also head librarian and chair of the political science department, died of heart failure Saturday in Lubbock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock. He was a former member of the Minnesota state Legislature, a former state librarian in Olympia, Wash., co-founder of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, and was author of The Mexican Government Today, a college textbook. Dr. Tucker, the widower of Margaret Fountain Tucker, leaves a daughter, Elizabeth T. Karras of New Braunfels, Texas; two sons, William F. Tucker of Tucson, Ariz., and Laurance H. Tucker of Memphis, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Texas Tech University or Hospice of Lubbock.

JOHN SIM BEIBER, 97, of Ripley, Miss., retired carpenter and farmer, died of heart failure Friday at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ripley Funeral Home with burial in Tippah Memorial Garden. He was a member of Ripley Church of Christ. Mr. Beiber, the husband of Bessie May Beiber, also leaves local survivors including two daughters, Jean Russell of Memphis and Judy Edgar of Cordova; a son, Gerald Beiber of Germantown, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. WILLIAM LOUIS HUTCHERSON, 72, of Clarksville, Tenn., retired master sergeant for the Army, died of pneumonia Friday at his home.
