Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Millington First Baptist Church with entombment in Forest Hill Mausoleum East. Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel has charge. Mr. Burns, the husband of Marcia J. Burns, also leaves two sisters, Jenny R. Fitzsimmons of Bartlett and Shirley Mashburn of Osceola, Ark., and a brother, Robert Eugene Burns of Gladewater, Texas.

DALVAN M. COGER, 79, of Memphis, professor emeritus of the University of Memphis, died Wednesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. George's Episcopal Church, where he was a member, with burial at 10 a.m. Monday in National cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. He was a World War II Army veteran, a graduate of the University of Maryland and University of South Carolina, extensively published historian and African studies writer, member of African Studies Association, former chairman of Bibliography Sub-Committee of Archives & Libraries Committee, former book review editor for Liberian Studies Journal and recipient of the Dr. Peter Cooper Award. Mr. Coger, the husband of Greta Coger and widower of Dorothy Coger, also leaves three sons, Dal Leslie Coger of Medford, Mass., Jon-Jock Coger of Yuma, Ariz., and Kevin Craig Coger of St. Paul, Minn.; three half-sisters, Bonnie Royal of Hemlock, Mich., and Suzie Powell and Alberta Johnston, both of Saginaw, Mich.; a half-brother, Don Johnston of Saginaw, and three grandchildren. Funeral Home with burial in Helen Crigger cemetery. She was a Baptist, a former president of Memphis Wholesale Credit Women's Bureau and an 11-year volunteer for the YWCA Abused Women's Shelter.
