PEGGY LAND CARROLL, 74, of Memphis, self-employed interior decorator, died Thursday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. She was a member of Church of the Holy Communion, Memphis Country Club, Le Bonheur Club and Les Passees, former honorary board member of Memphis Speech & Hearing Center, former member of Women's Exchange and former president of Shelby County Chapter of Tennessee Society for Crippled Children. Mrs. Carroll, the widow of Dr. David L. Carroll, leaves two daughters, Kathy Carroll Canary of Fort Myers, Fla., and Betty Carroll Busch of Fairfax, Va.; a son, David S. Carroll Jr. of Memphis; a brother, Phil Land of Drummonds, Tenn., and three grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to MIFA.

WALTER FRANK CARTER, 62, of 562 Harris, died Wednesday at Cordova Rehab & Nursing Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford Temple Church of God in Christ in Collierville with burial in Jones Chapel cemetery in Grand Junction, Tenn. H.C. DALVAN M. COGER, 81, of Memphis, professor emeritus of the University of Memphis, died Wednesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 7 p.m. today at St. George's Episcopal Church, where he was a member, with burial at 10 a.m. Monday in National cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. He was a World War II Army veteran, a graduate of the University of Maryland and University of South Carolina, extensively published historian and African studies writer, member of African Studies Association, former chairman of Bibliography Sub-Committee of Archives & Libraries Committee, former book review editor for Liberian Studies Journal and recipient of the Dr. Peter Cooper Award. Mr. Coger, the husband of Greta Coger and widower of Dorothy Coger, also leaves three sons, Dal Leslie Coger of Medford, Mass., Jon-Jack Coger of Yuma, Ariz., and Kevin Craig Coger of St. Paul, Minn.; three half-sisters, Bonnie Royal of Hemlock, Mich., and Suzie Powell and Alberta Johnston, both of Saginaw, Mich.; a half-brother, Don Johnston of Saginaw, and three grandchildren.
