WALTER E. 'GENE' CUEVAS, 87, of Memphis, retired painter, died Monday at Methodist Healthcare-North. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Funeral Home East with burial in Forest Hill cemetery East. He was a member of Faith Temple Christian Center. Mr. Cuevas, the widower of Helen Louise Arnoult Cuevas, leaves two daughters, Helen Thompson of Memphis and Donna Hall of Montgomery, Texas, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. The family requests that memorials be sent to John Hagee Ministries in San Antonio, Texas.

MATTALENE DAWSON, 83, of West Memphis, retired from the Agricultural Council of Arkansas, died Tuesday at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial in Cypert cemetery in Marvell, Ark. She was a member of West Memphis First Baptist Church. She leaves a nephew who cared for her, Gene Dickson of West Memphis. The family requests that memorials be sent to West Memphis First Baptist Church.

RANDALL CRAIG ECHOLS, 44, of Millington, operating room scheduler for Methodist Healthcare-North, died Monday at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Roller Family Funeral Home with burial in Forest Hill cemetery Midtown. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mr. Echols, the husband of Vicki O'Dell Echols, also leaves a daughter, Cori Shea Echols, and a son, Andrew Craig Echols, both of Memphis; two stepdaughters, Christie Jarvis of Millington and Cyndi Edwards of Brighton, Tenn.; his parents, Woody and Patsy Fowler of Collierville; three brothers, Bertis Alfred Echols of Collierville, Dennis Wayne Echols of Germantown and Woodrow Stanley Fowler of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and four stepgrandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center or Alliance Hospice.

He leaves four daughters, Shenesha Hardin, Vonsheika Hardin and Keolsha Hardin, all of Moscow, and Linda Faye Smith of Memphis; three sons, Ray Anthony Hardin and Robert Smith, both of Memphis, and Exzavior Hardin of Moscow; his father, Cecil Hardin of Byhalia, Miss.; eight sisters, Minnie Lee Wilson, Ida Hardin and Bobbie Jean Hardin, all of Byhalia, Ola Mae Hurdle and Earnestine Stigger, both of Rossville, Olivia James and Annie Shields, both of Memphis, and Dorothy Craft of Moscow; three brothers, Sammie Lee Hardin of Oakland, Tenn., Robert Junior Hardin of Rossville and Eddie Junior Hardin of Moscow, and a grandchild.

He was a Korean War Air Force veteran. Mr. Houston, the husband of Barbara Houston, also leaves a son, John Houston of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, James Scott Houston Jr. of Atlanta, and two grandchildren. MARGARET B. KATZ, 79, of Cordova, formerly of Ocean Springs, Miss., retired medical technologist, died Sunday at her home. She was a member of Daughters of the King of St. John's Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Katz, the wife of Avery K. Katz for 59 years, also leaves two daughters, Peggy Katz Tribble of Cordova and Mary Katz Alissandratos of Germantown, and four grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the Daughters of the King of The Church of Annunciation.

He leaves a daughter, Faye Oglesby of Eupora; two sons, Colie Oglesby of Tomnolen, Miss., and Mark Oglesby of Millington; two brothers, Bernard Oblesby of Greenville, Miss., and John Emerson of Memphis, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
