RAY BURK JR., 15-year-old son of Ray and Lisa Burk of Collierville, student at Collierville High School, died Tuesday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Incarnation in Collierville, where he was a member, with burial in Magnolia cemetery there. Collierville Funeral Home has charge. He was a member of the high school tennis team. He also leaves two brothers, Alex Burk and Brandon Burk, both of Collierville, and his grandparents, Nick and Carolyn Buoni and Helen Burk, all of Memphis.

JAMES E. 'CHOCTAW' CARTER, 71, of Memphis, retired ironworker for Apple Crane & Rigging Co., died Sunday at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel with burial in Northridge/Woodhaven cemetery there. He was a Korean War Army veteran and member of Ironworkers Union Local 767. Mr. Carter, the widower of Elizabeth L. Carter, leaves two daughters, Katrina J. Odom of Olive Branch and Laura J. Miller of Little Rock; four sons, James E. Carter Jr. of Warrior, Ala., Davie W. Carter of Memphis, Olen W. Carter of Independence, Miss., and Nicholas W. Carter of Fort Sill, Okla.; three sisters, Pauline Coulter of Dallas, Juanita Uselton of Arlington and Judith Walker of Memphis; three brothers, Olen Carter and Glen Maxey, both of Memphis, and Medford Carter of Shreveport, La., seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
