DR. CLARK EDWARD CORLISS, 81, of Memphis, emeritus professor of microscopic and gross anatomy at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, died Thursday at West Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt. He was a moderator and served on the organ restoration and the pulpit committees at First Congregational Church, a World War II Army veteran who received the Purple Heart, a Meals on Wheels volunteer for Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association, a board member of the Mason YMCA, a volunteer timer for swimming events at the YMCA and Jewish Community Center, a judge for local science fairs, and was a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, the Brown University Alumni Association and the Mustang Club. Dr. Corliss, the husband of Anita Mann Corliss for 52 years, also leaves a daughter, Roberta Mann Corliss of Memphis; two sons, Jeffrey Morgan Corliss of North Andover, Mass., and Stuart Eaton Corliss of Carmichael, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth Dutton Corliss and Margaret Evelyn Corliss, both of Shelburne, Vt.; a brother, John Orzo Corliss of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., and two grandchildren. JESSIE ALEXANDER CROMWELL, 96, of Memphis, retired supervisor for Brown Shoe Co., died Thursday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah, Tenn., with burial in Mt. Hermon cemetery in Hardin County. She was a 58-year member of East End United Methodist Church.
