SARA THELMA COOKSEY, 81, of Covington, homemaker and farmer, died Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Tipton in Covington. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home with burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Ms. Cooksey, the widow of Charles Elvin Cooksey, leaves a daughter, Mary Geneva Cooksey Hendrix of Covington; a son, Charles Eugene Cooksey of Ripley, Tenn.; two sisters, Pauline McDaniel of Brighton, Tenn., and Shirley Hardister of Covington; two brothers, Robert Chumley and Richard Chumley, both of Covington, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

JAMES H. DAVIS Jr., 76, of Memphis, retired automotive electric manager, died Sunday at his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Family Funeral Care Stage Road Chapel with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens. He was a World War II Army veteran who received the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart and the EAME Service Medal with one bronze service star. Mr. Davis, the husband of Helen Davis for 52 years, also leaves three daughters, Sandy Spell and Terry Davis, both of Memphis, and Debbie Lannom of Las Vegas; a son, Jeffrey Davis of Memphis; two brothers, Otis Davis of Shawnee, Okla., and Bill Davis of Mississippi, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
