SAMUEL WALKER BUFORD, 71, of Memphis, retired real estate specialist from the Corps of Engineers, died Monday at Methodist Healthcare-University Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club, with burial in Calvary. Harrison's Funeral Home Orange Mound Chapel has charge. He was a member of Knights of Peter Claver, Friends of Fuller, ProDuffers, Cherokee Heights Civic Club, Westlawn-Galveston Block Club and Midnight Mystics of Mobile, Ala. Mr. Buford, the husband of Barbara Anderson Buford, also leaves five daughters, Michelle Cofield of Mobile, Donna Howard and Annjennette Cochran, both of Atlanta, Maria Anderson of Oakland, N.J., and Jennise Hall of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two sisters, Esther Darnell of Joliet, Ill., and Geraldine Holloway of San Antonio, and nine grandchildren.

EVALYNN CARTER, 69, of Memphis, customer service representative for Memphis Publishing Co., died Tuesday at Saint Francis Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial in Southwood cemetery. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Carter, the widow of Roy T. Carter, leaves two daughters, Tresea Laurie of Memphis and Endy Carter of Cordova; a son, Roy Tyson Carter Jr. of Marion, Ark.; six brothers, Billy McClelland and Jimmy McClelland, both of Turrell, Ark., Kenneth McClelland, Donald McClelland and Thomas McClelland, all of Gilmore, Ark., and Barry McClelland of Marion, and three grandchildren.
