JUAN ANTONIO MATA, infant son of Kelly Christine Weaver Ramirez and Jose Luis Mata Nava of Memphis, died of asphyxiation Sunday at Methodist Healthcare-Central. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He also leaves three sisters, Claudia Jasmine Ramirez, Kierra Ann Ramirez and Alyssia Lashae Weaver; his grandparents, Irene and Ramon Mata, Pamela Lynn Miller and Tommy L. Weaver, and his great-grandmother, Robbie Clark.

JO ANN McBRIDE, 51, of Memphis, receptionist, died of cancer Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was a communicant, with burial in West Tennessee Veterans cemetery. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. Mrs. McBride, the wife of James McBride, also leaves three daughters, Amy Shindler, Kathy McBride and Colleen McBride and two sons, Chris McBride and Bryon McBride, all of Memphis; a sister, Brenda Jones of Coldwater, Miss., and five grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

JACK McCURRY, 79, of Horn Lake, retired restaurant owner and salesman, died of cancer Monday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Veteran's cemetery in Black Mountain, N.C. Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven has charge. He was a World War II Navy and Coast Guard veteran, a Mason and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Asheville (N.C.) Lodge 608 and the American Legion. Mr. McCurry, the husband of Alice Shaffer McCurry, also leaves two daughters, Diane Stewart of Asheville and Gail Barnes of Chattanooga; a son, Jack H. McCurry of Candler, N.C.; a sister, Pauline Capps of Hendersonville, N.C.; three brothers, S. Ray McCurry and Clayton McCurry, both of Candler and Ron McCurry of Fayetteville, Ga., three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

WILLIAM A. METTS, 85, of Mhoon Lake, Miss., formerly of Memphis, retired carpenter and truck driver, died of pneumonia Monday at Helena (Ark.) Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memory Hill Gardens. Forest Hill Funeral Home East has charge. He was a member of Twin City Church of Christ in West Helena. Mr. Metts, the husband of Jessie Mae 'Judy' Metts for 29 years, also leaves three daughters, Bettye M. Sims of Harleyville, S.C., Bonnie Pettie of Marvell, Ark., and Paula Walsh of Summerville, S.C.; a stepson, Dennis Burns of Arlington; a brother, Harold Metts of Memphis, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

JAMES E. MORRISSEY, 68, of Maryville, Tenn., formerly of Memphis, watchmaker and retired meteorologist for the Navy, died of cancer Tuesday in Maryville. Services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Smith Mortuary Trinity Chapel in Maryville with burial at 11 a.m. Thursday at Grandview cemetery there. He was a member of Praise Lutheran Church and the American Legion and a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran. Mr. Morrissey, the husband of Shelia Morrissey, also leaves a daughter, Kelly Kathleen Eagleson of Maryland; two sons, Daniel F. Morrissey of Nashville and James F. Morrissey of Memphis; three sisters, Mary Margaret Powell and Colleen Moss, both of Buffalo, N.Y., and Ruth Moss of Indiana, and four grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.

BURMELL PARKER, 86, of Walnut Ridge, Ark., formerly of West Memphis, teacher, died Tuesday at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge after a stroke. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with burial in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark. She was a member of West Memphis First United Methodist Church Good News Sunday School Class and the Heritage Choir. Mrs. Parker, the widow of Melvin Wafford 'Smokey' Parker, leaves two daughters, Joyce Rose of Walnut Ridge and Judy French of West Memphis; a son, Dana Parker of West Memphis; two sisters, Helen Young of West Memphis and Imo Webb of Marianna, Ark., two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to West Memphis First United Methodist Church.
