Maxine Gammell Moody, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Mississippi.
She was born in Ecru, Mississippi on July 19, 1925, and grew up in Enterprise community of Union County, Mississippi, near New Albany. She graduated from Macedonia High School in 1942. In 1943, she married
Martin Moody of Macedonia community and joined him in Atlanta City, New Jersey, where he was stationed with the U. S. Navy. They settled in Memphis, Tennessee, with their three children, where they lived for 25 years.
Maxine worked at the Internal Revenue Service while living in Memphis. From 1979 to 2001, she was Secretary/Treasurer and half-owner of Moody, Inc., a land development firm in Meridian, Mississippi.
She leaves her husband of 58 years, Martin Moody of Enterprise Community; three children, Mack Eugene Moody of Martin, Tennessee; Myra Nell Forbus of Dallas, Texas; and Barbara Ann Talley of Park City, Utah; four grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Talley of Boston, Massachusetts; David Austin Talley of Park City, Utah; Martin Alan Moody of Martin, Tennessee; and Jared Asher Forbus of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Melba Maxey of Macedonia; one brother, Conny Lee Gammell of Oxford, Mississippi; daughter-in-law Eleanor Jones Moody of Martin, Tennessee; son-in-law Lee Daniel Talley of Park City, Utah; son-in-law Gary Lee Forbus of Dallas, Texas; and nine nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, John Eddy Gammell and Irleen McCarver Gammell, three sisters and one brother.
Services will be at 11:00 AM. Saturday, November 24, 2001 at the United Funeral Service Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Talley, David Talley, Alan Moody, Jared Forbus, Lee Talley, and Gary Forbus.
Maxine had battled Chronic obstructive Pulmonary Disease for the past two years. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2001 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. at the funeral home.
Nancy E. Ferguson, 68, beloved mother, grandmother and sister died November 20, 2001 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Nancy was a Professor of Music Education at the University of Arizona in Tucson for 14 years. Before moving to Arizona, Nancy was President of the Tennessee Music Educators Association and head of all elementary music in the Memphis school system. She was also a national Past-President of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association and appears in the International Women's book of Who's Who.
Nancy was a much sought after clinician and has taught all over the United States, Canada and Europe. She was a published author and consultant with the Music Education division of the Macmillan Publishing Company in New York. She was also a regular clinician and board member of the International Jazz Educators Association and was in the process of building a jazz curriculum for elementary educators nationwide.
Nancy was a jazz and recording vocalist and performed with the Hit Parade in the 1950's, made local, regional and national radio and television commercials for over 20 years.
Nancy was born in Somerville, Tennessee on February 20, 1933 and is preceded in death by her parents, Duncan D. Parsons and Grace Holmes Parsons. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Stirzaker, her daughters, Shari L. Paris of Phoenix, AZ, Terry Shade of Las Vegas, NV., and her 5 grandchildren, Lauren, Christine, Brad, Daniel and Molly.

Memorial Service to be held Saturday, November 24th at 10:00 am. at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E. Lincoln Dr. Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. RICHARD E. BRADY, Nov. 14, 2001, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Brady, born February 25, 1922, in Springfield, Ohio, is preceded in death by his parents, Frank S. and Dorothy Meek Brady and sister, Martha Brady Garrety. Wife, Joanne, daughter, Deborah B. Brodman of New Jersey; sons, Richard Jr. and Michael; stepchildren, Charles Bailey, of Nashville, and Christi Bailey of Kentucky; grandchildren, Jessica Laura and Adam Ray Brady survive him.
Mr. Brady, an avid golfer, traveler and artist, most recently, founder and president of The Brady Family Historical Association & The Pioneer Heritage Center on Conodoguinet Creek near Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. He was a lifetime member of the Dramatists Guild and a published member of ASCAP. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Brady attended Wittenberg University, where he was a member of ATO, and Denison University. A decorated naval veteran of WWII, Mr. Brady served on the YMS 421, under Capt. Whitehall, in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre: the American Theatre and European Theatre.

MRS. MARTHA KAY SPELLINGS THOMPSON, of Florence, AL and Decaturville, TN went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 6:45 pm at her home in Florence, AL.
She was preceded in death by her son, Leslie Brown Thompson II, her parents, Gideon Haskill and Quincy Taylor Spellings, brother, James H. Spellings and sister, Joan Spellings. Martha attended Christ Chapel Church of Florence.
Martha began her journey through life as an educator and teacher in Dorena, Mo. in 1957 for one year between her the junior and senior years in college at the University of Tennessee at Martin. After graduating from UTM she taught for many years in the Decatur County and Paris City Schools in Tennessee. She taught Special Education in the Florence City School System from 1982 until her retirement in 1997. She held Masters Degrees in education and earned post graduate hours from the University of Mississippi at Oxford and Murray State University, Murray, KY, among others.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 20, from 6-9 pm and Wed. Nov. 21, from 11-1 pm at REEDS CHAPEL in Decaturville, TN. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm at funeral home chapel followed by burial at Mt. Tabor cemetery.

MARK HARKLEROAD, 32, of Memphis, Tennessee, died Wednesday morning, November 14, 2001, at Memphis Regional Medical Center after injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Kingsport, where he spent most of his life. Mr. Harkleroad was a 1987 graduated of Dobyus-Bennett High School and attended MTSU. He was employed by Parker Prints in Memphis as a graphic designer.
Survivors include his wife, Kitty Harkleroad of Memphis; step-daughter, Sandi Russom of Memphis; stepson, Jonathan Russom of Memphis; and parents, Oscar and Martha Harkleroad of Kingsport.
Calling hours are 1-3 pm, Sunday, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Downtown. Services will be conducted at 3pm, Sunday, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Tilley and David Doty, Minister, officiating.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church cemetery.

KATHLEEN LEE MARTIN SIMMONS died Nov. 9, 2001 in Houston, Texas. She was born July 10, 1916 in Memphis and was the daughter of the late Lydia and Theodore Lee. Services 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Carl Wenck & Rev. Richard Elseroad will officiate. Interment Evergreen cemetery. She is survived by her husband, D. Eugene Simmons; 2 sons, Paul W. Martin, Jr. of Knoxville, H. Lee Martin of Knoxville; Grandchildren: Paul W. Martin, III, Phillip Martin, Nina Martin, Ashleigh Kathleen Martin, and Daniel Martin.
Mrs. Simmons early years were spent in Memphis, where she graduated from Humes High School as Salutatorian of her class. She moved between several places in Tennessee and Mississippi with most of her adult life being spent in Murfreesboro, TN, where she worked with the Draft Board and as a Court Reporter. She was one of the founding families of Grace Lutheran Church and Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro.
Mrs. Simmons was a true friend to everyone she met. She was an avid and excellent bridge player, enjoyed golf, and performed volunteer work with The Rutherford County (TN) Hospital Auxiliary, where she served one term as President. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Paul W. Martin. She was a Christian, Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and a Dear Friend to many. Ramer High School, Civilian Conservation Corps. Preached for West Shiloh Baptist Mission at Childers Hill, Big Sandy Baptist Church, Big Sandy, TN, Beaver Baptist Church, near Munford, TN, Center Hill Baptist Church, Counce, TN and Eastview Baptist Church. He was the son of the late William Vincent and Mary Elizabeth Osborn Jaggars. JOHN ALLEN CRISMAN, 88, of Memphis, retired Engineer, who worked for Westinghouse, died Wednesday, November 28, 2001, at Baptist Hospital East.

John was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church and was a life Deacon. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, a Shriner and a Mason. A graduate of Iowa State College, John was a lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, The Engineers Club of Memphis, The Memphis Rose Society and The American Rose Society. A former member of the Shriners Bowling League and The Engineers Bowling League, John also participated in Meals on Wheels and was a strong supporter of many charities. He supported University of Memphis and was a member of the Bengal Tigers and Rebounders and a University of Memphis Tiger's fan.
John leaves his wife, Grace Crisman of Cordova, TN; son, John A. Crisman of Van Nuys, CA; step-son, John DeWitt of Berkeley, CA; step-daughter, Mary Heuser of Memphis, TN; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
