VIRGIA BUCKNER, 56, of Memphis, homemaker, died of heart failure Wednesday at her home. N. J. Ford & Sons Funeral Home has charge. She was a member of Oakville Baptist Church. Mrs. Buckner, the widow of Hez B. Buckner, leaves a daughter, Erma J. McKnight and two sons, Hez Bennie Buckner Jr., and Anthony Jerome Buckner, all of Memphis; a sister, Leonia Lewis of St. Louis; four brothers, Jimmy Lee McKnight and Walter McKnight of Mound Bayou, Miss., and Willie Charles McKnight and Joseph McKnight, both of St. Louis, and four grandchildren.

LUCY L. CHANDLER, 70, of Knoxville, formerly of Hernando, retired from National Bank of Commerce, died of heart failure Tuesday at her home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greenleaf cemetery in Coldwater, Miss. Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando has charge. Mrs. Chandler, the widow of John I. Chandler, leaves seven sisters, Gladys Sowell of Cockrum, Miss., Bessie Barnes and Bonnie Meredith, both of Memphis, Julia 'Scottie' Jones of Sparta, Tenn., Nellie Massey of Greenleaf, Miss., Betty Moore of Independence, Miss., and Helen White of HerNando, and a brother, John C. Greer of Black Rock, Ark.

OWENS 'DOCK' CHEARS, 72, of 874 E. Mallory, retired from AT&T;, died of heart failure Monday at his home. M. J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He was an Army veteran and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Chears, the husband of Armintha Chears, also leaves five daughters, Jacquelyn Chears, Denise C. Thompson, Gwendolyn Chears, Vernestine C. Norman and Marlene Burton, and a son, Tyrone Chears, all of Memphis; a stepson, Lee Andrew Tucker of Brunswick, Tenn.; three sisters, Lottie M. McCauley, Martha Chatman and Annalize Hale, all of Memphis, 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

CHRISTINE GRIFFIN, 64, of 3473 Piney Wood, retired from NHC Health Care Center, died of heart failure Monday at Methodist Healthcare-Central. M. J. Edwards & Sons Funeral Home has charge. She leaves two sons, Howard Houston Griffin and William Griffin, and a sister, Mildred Lucille Douglas, all of Memphis; two brothers, Roosevelt Griffin of Memphis and James Martin Griffin of Tacoma, Wash., seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

BEATRICE HAWKINS, 88, of Memphis, died of heart failure Nov. 12 in Fort Worth, Texas. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church. Superior Funeral Home has charge. Mrs. Hawkins, the widow of Ezell Hawkins, leaves a son, James Foreman, seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

JIMMY F. HOWELL, 47, of 2327 Hubbard, chef for Bennigan's Restaurant, died Monday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis after a stroke. Services will be at noon Saturday at J. O. Patterson Mortuary with burial in Paradise Garden in Edmondson, Ark. He was a former member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church. He leaves a daughter, Crystal Gail Howell, and a son, Jermy Howell, both of West Memphis; his mother, Maxine Howell, and two brothers, Kenneth Howell and Terry Howell, all of Memphis, and his grandmother, Emma Reed of Yuma, Ariz.

MELVIN G. LIPKE, 75, of Memphis, retired process engineer for Taylor Forge International, died of cancer Tuesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Canale Funeral Directors has charge. He leaves a son, Steven G. Lipke of Downers Grove, Ill., and two sisters, Lucille Andel of Cicero, Ill., and Emily Coffman of Chattanooga.

CLEVA McBEE, 88, of Eads, died Monday in Memphis after a stroke. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, Ky., with burial in Highland Park cemetery. She was a member of Community of Christ Church. Mrs. McBee, the widow of Jim McBee, leaves a son, Phillip McBee of Eads, and two grandchildren.

PAT R. McGUIRE, 68, of Olive Branch, retired builder and real estate developer, died of cancer Wednesday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church. Mr. McGuire, the husband of Sue McGuire, also leaves a daughter, Susan Dillahunty of Little Rock; two sons, Mike McGuire of Memphis and Pat R. McGuire Jr. of Olive Branch; two sisters, Virginia McGuire of Olive Branch and Frances McBrayer of Germantown, and four grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Mooney, the husband of Betsy Mooney, also leaves a daughter, Tieona Mooney of St. Louis; five sisters, Lena Smith, Lorraine Allen, Minnie Burrus, Clara Clay and Georgia Barnes and two brothers, Freddie McKinney and Harry Carter, all of Memphis, and a grandchild.

Mr. Moore, the husband of Wilma Louise Moore, also leaves two daughters, Patricia Moore Doss and Sandra Moore Dawkins; four sons, Tyler Martindale Moore of Memphis, Robert Anthony Moore and Dr. Michael M. Mosby Townsend of Chicago and Martin Leon Moore of Buffalo, N.Y.; his mother, Odessa K. Moore and a brother, James S. Moore, both of Memphis, and five grandchildren.

Patterson Mortuary has charge. He was a Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Price, the husband of Louise B. Price, also leaves three daughters, Gloria J. Jordan, Darlene Price and Shelia P. Mitchell, and three sons, Howard Price, George C. Price Jr. and Theodus 'Jackie' Price, all of Memphis; four sisters, Marie Herron of Somerville, Elizabeth Sain of Arlington and Perlene Richman and Etta Mae Whitaker, both of Memphis; two brothers, Cloyd Whitaker of Arlington and Odell Whitaker of Memphis, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rutledge, the widow of Johnnie Clinton Rutledge, leaves four sons, William Rutledge of Fairfield, Ill., Johnnie Dan Rutledge of Augusta, Ga., Max Rutledge of Southaven and Roy Rutledge of Memphis, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

She was a member of Memphis Kennel Club, Greater Shelby Kennel Club, La Cajun Pom Club and Central Arkansas Pom Club. Mrs. Sajonce was the widow of Tracy L. Kinney and Hank Sajonce.
