Anna Rhea Morrison, age 88, of Paint Rock Valley Rd., Loudon, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2003 at the family home. Mrs. Morrison was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Morrison. Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Michael F. and Penny L. Morrison of Paint Rock, Eddie and Peggy Yarber of Rossville, GA; grandchildren, Roy, Randy Yarber, Chris Morrison, April Woodard, Paul Coleman, Kesia Morrison; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred McGinnis of Lenoir City, Pauline McPhail of Cleveland; brothers, Roy Thomas of Sweetwater, Clyde Thomas of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The body will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Vincent Krauss, and Rev. Helen Shaw officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Gertrude Graves Richesin, age 82, of Sweetwater, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Sweetwater Hospital. She was a member of the Murray's Baptist Church of Sweetwater. Preceded in death by her sister, Bessie Wiseman, brothers, Boyd, Bud, Raymond, Remer, Refred, James, and Webster Graves. Survivors include: loving husband of 50 years; Gaither Richesin; daugther and son-in-law, Rhonda and Larry Kyker all of Sweetwater; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Ruby Gourley of Calhoun, TN, Dennis and Cynthia Richesin of Sweetwater; granchildren, Rickey Joe Gourley, Mandy Kyker, Kelsey Richesin, and Lindsey Richesin; sister, Ruth Presley of Sweetwater; brother Randy Presley of San Bernandino, CA; special niece, Susie Patterson; seveal nieces and nephews; special friends, Dimpsie Potter and Alma Thompson. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Sam Petty, Rev. Joe Caldwell, and Rev. Hobby Lawson officiating. Interment at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Murray's Baptist Church Cemetery.
Charles Edward Fridley, age 83, of Sweetwater, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003. He was a member of Forkner Chapel Methodist Church, local American Legion Post 106, and veteran of the U.S. Navy. Edward loved and respected the United States of America and our Presidents. He served our country in the Navy during WWII. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga CV-3 and was an Aviation Metal Smith Third Class Petty Officer. He was discharged from military service with Awards/Medals: Presidential Unit Citation, American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon and the Victory Medal and served on the ship during the "Magic Carpet" voyages on which thousands of U.S. Servicemen were brought back home after the war ended. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles Robert and Bettie Josephine Fridley; spouse, Myrtle Louise Fridley; brother, James Granville Fridley; nephew, James Allen Fridley; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He had no children. Survivors include: brother, Thomas Benjamin Fridley of NC; nephew and wife, Charles W. and Gail T. Fridley; sister-in-law, Essie E. Fridley both of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater, where the family will receive friends Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Blanche Settles officiating. Interment to follow in Sweetwater Memorial Park. Military honors provided by Sweetwater VFW 5156.
Woodrow Wayne Plemmons, age 85 of Sweetwater, passed away Monday, June 9, 2003, at Sweetwater Hospital He was of the Baptist faith. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army; he was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. Preceded in death by his parents: Mack and Bessie Plemmons, brothers; Marvin and Eugene Plemmons, step-grandson Joe Guffey. Survivors include: Wife of 54 yrs.; Christine Wilson Plemmons; Sons and Daughter-in-law; Richard Wayne Plemmons and Fiancee; Nancy Youngblood, Jimmy Mack and Amy Plemmons all of Sweetwater; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Charles Sloan of Madisonville, Cookie McGinnis of Coral Springs, FL; sisters-in-law, Wanda Johnson of Sweetwater, Cahtleen Strickland, Sue Plemons both of Madisonville; step-grandson and wife, Leslie and Jeff Sloan of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews.
