Avery Emert
Avery Emert, 71, of Greenfield, died Sunday, March 27, 2005, at West Tennessee Transitional Care. Funeral services for Mr. Emert were held Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in New Prospect Cemetery in Greenfield. Tracy McDaniel officiated the services.
Mr. Emert worked in maintenance at Jeanell Foam. He was born October 2, 1933 in Dandridge, Tennessee to the late Amos Emert and Bertha Tratt.
Mr. Emert is survived by a daughter, Donna (Emert) Pope of Dyersburg; two sons, Paul Emert of Michigan, and Ralph Emert of Michigan; and a brother, Frank Emert of Milan.
Donald Ray Hodges
Donald Ray Hodges, 58, of Martin, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. Hodges was employed by MTD in Martin and was a Baptist by faith. He was born October 29, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. Hodges is survived by a son, Donnie Hodges, Jr.; a sister, Diane Hodges King of Dresden; two brothers, William Hodges of Dresden, and David Hodges of Norfolk, Virginia.
George Anna Hearn Wehman
George Anna Hearn Wehman, 73, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died Monday, March 21, 2005. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 25, 2005, at St. Luke Methodist Church with the Reverend Sherry Boles officiating.
Mrs. Wehman was the daughter of the late George Cox Hearn and Brownie Higgs Hearn of Greenfield. She graduated from Greenfield High School and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a BS in Political Science with Highest Honors and later obtained teaching certification from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. At UT-Knoxville, she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a long time member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Chattanooga and member of the International Society of Antique Scale Collectors and was active in research and contributed to the society's publications.
Mrs. Wehman is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles Philip Wehman of Chattanooga; daughter, Melissa Wehman of Chattanooga; son, Philip Cary Wehman and his wife Karen of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Mark and Carolyn Wehman of Indianapolis; brother, Robert L. Hearn of Greenfield; niece, Paula Hearn of Greenfield; and cousin and life long friend, Joe Spears and his wife, Betty of Laurel, Mississippi.
Major Hal Lynn Rainey
Military services for Major Hal Lynn Rainey were held March 21 at the Houston National Cemetery with Chaplain Hampton Mabray officiating. Major Rainey died March 17 at his home in Houston, Texas.
Major Rainey, a graduate of Greenfield High School and UT-Knoxville, was a career serviceman who served with NASA throughout his career. After retirement, Major Rainey worked with Lockeed for five years. He was a member of The United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, four children, two grandchildren, his parents, Mrs. Mable Rainey of Greenfield and the late William H. Rainey, brothers, Dan Rainey of Henderson and Ron Rainey of Jackson.
Paul V. Cook
Paul V. Cook, 69, of Martin, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Cook were held Friday, March 25, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Palmersville Cemetery. Rev. Mase Jett officiated the services.
Mr. Cook was an ordained minister of Christ Community Church in Bells, Tennessee and holds a Master Degree in Theology. He was born in Sikeston, Missouri to the late Paul and Verla Laughlin Cook. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Maurice Cook.
Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marcine Jackson Cook of Martin; a daughter, Mrs. Kayra Joann Buchanan of Cordova, Tennessee; a son, Mr. Timothy Paul Cook of Jonesbrough, Tennessee; a sister, Joan Barto of Saint Clair, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Kara Linson of Martin; and one grandchild, Cody Buchanan of Cordova, Tennessee.
William D. Dismuke, Sr.
Services for William D. Dismuke, Sr., 80, of McKenzie, were held Wednesday, March 23, 2005, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with Doug Sanders and Wayne Prater officiating. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Dismuke, a retired production manager for Zorn Printing Firm, died Monday, March 21, at McKenzie Regional Hospital. He was a native of Martin and was born August 26, 1924, to the late William Ashley Dismuke and Ruth Bell Gatewood Dismuke. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served both during and following World War II. He was discharged as a sergeant in the medical corps and was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dupon Dismuke.
Survivors include his wife, Estelle Sanders Dismuke; two sons, Danny Dismuke, Jr. of New York, and Robert "Bobby" Dismuke of Long Beach, New Jersey; two brothers, Hugh Dismuke of Dresden, and Jerry Dismuke of Crete, Illinois; and two grandchildren.
Betty Morefield
Betty Morefield, 59, of Wingo, Kentucky, died Thursday, March 22, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mrs. Morefield were held Friday, March 25, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield, Kentucky. Burial followed in Miller's Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Max Anderson officiated the services.
Mrs. Morefield worked at the former Curlee's Clothing Factory and was a member of Miller's Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Lee and Lethie Ann (Rule) Williams; and three brothers, James Reed, Denvil Williams, and Howard Williams.
Mrs. Morefield is survived by her husband, Jerry Lewis Morefield of Wingo, Kentucky; a daughter, Candy Marie Gray of Wingo, Kentucky; two sons, Tommy Lewis Morefield of Mayfield, Kentucky and Rusty Lee Morefield of Dresden; three sisters, Rosie McLeod of Benton, Kentucky, Carrie Jean Riley of Mayfield, Kentucky, and Jessie Lee McLeod of Murray, Kentucky; and seven grandchildren.
Dorothy Mae Terrell
Dorothy Mae Terrell, 79, of Martin (Chestnut Glade Community), died Monday, March 21, 2005, at the home of her daughter in Raleigh, North Carolina. Funeral services for Mrs. Terrell were held Friday, March 25, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton, Kentucky. Entombment was in Obion County Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Union City. Elder Maley Davidson officiated the services.
Mrs. Terrell had been a production worker for the former H.I.S. clothing company and attended Sandy Branch Primitive Baptist Church. She was born March 8, 1926 in Weakley County to the late Raymond and Clover (Brann) Wall and had lived in this area all of her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Terrell was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wall and John Wall.
Mrs. Terrell is survived by her husband, George Mack Terrell of Martin (Chestnut Glade Community), whom she married in October of 1994; a daughter, Lynda Nichols of Raleigh, North Carolina; a son, Timothy M. Terrell of Birmingham, Alabama; three grandchildren, Stephen Mark Terrell of Birmingham, Alabama, Alana S. Terrell of San Francisco, California, and Crista G. McCuan of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister, Amy Mattingly of Edmond, Oklahoma; and a brother, James Wall of Martin.
James Lowell "Jim" Dyer
James Lowell "Jim" Dyer, 68, of South Fulton, formerly of Dresden, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Martin Healthcare. Funeral services for Mr. Dyer were held Saturday, March 26, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at White-Mahon Funeral Home, Inc. in Union City. Burial followed in Terrace Hill Cemetery in Troy. Dr. Bobby Williams officiated the services.
Mr. Dyer was a self-employed carpenter and built homes in the Dresden area for over 30 years. He was a 1954 graduate of the former Dixie High School and a member of Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Troy. Mr. Dyer was born September 30, 1936 in Obion County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Dyer; and a son, Monty Dyer.
Mr. Dyer is survived by his wife, whom he married July 22, 1961, Wilda Dyer of South Fulton; two sons, Gary Dyer of Martin, and Keith Dyer of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Diane Williams of Magnolia, Arkansas; and three brothers, Bobby Morris of Obion, Davey Lunsford of Smithton, Illinois, and Alan Lunsford of Georgia.
Coyce W. Prince
Coyce W. Prince, 83, of Swansea, Illinois, born February 4, 1922 in Dresden, died on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, Illinois.
Mr. Prince retired from Monsanto in Sauget, Illinois, where he worked for 38 years. He was a member of the Gothic Lodge #852 AF & AM, Fairview Heights, Illinois, the Ainad Temple in East St. Louis, Illinois, Scottish Rite Bodies in Belleville, Illinois, and 32 Degree member of the Belleville Shrine Club. Mr. Prince was a WWII United States Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey M., nee DuHadway, Prince; his parents, Travis and Cecil, nee Woodruff, Prince; a sister, Reba Rea; and a brother, Coy Wingo Prince.
He is survived by his son, Coy T. Prince of Red Bud, Illinois; two grandchildren, Dale T. (Stephanie) Prince of Cascade, Colorado, and Stacy E. (Zeb) Beukema of Cascade, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Prince and Madison Beukema, both of Cascade, Colorado; a sister, Nell Kayser of Fairview Heights, Illinois; two nephews, Bill Rea and Paul Rea and their families of Martin; three nieces, Susanne Colone of Godfrey, Illinois, Clara McClure of Belleville, Illinois, and Cheryl Picker of Omaha, Nebraska and their families.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Elizabeth Parker Stover
Elizabeth Parker Stover, 86, of Dresden, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Funeral services for Mrs. Stover were held Friday, April 15, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Minnick Cemetery in Obion. Dr. Bobby Williams and Rev. Jerry Lynch officiated the services.
Mrs. Stover was retired from the United States General Accounting Office. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Trenton Chapter. She was also a member of the Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in all church functions to the Cumberland Presbyterian Churches. Mrs. Stover was born in Nashville to the late Eugene and Vinnie Cates Parker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stover was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Oren Linly Stover.
Mrs. Stover is survived by four sons, James L. Stover of Dresden, Danny E. Stover of Lane, Tennessee, Robert E. Stover of Dresden, and Edward Stover of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Linda Cherry Buchholz
Linda Cherry Buchholz, 59, of Berwyn, Illinois, formerly of Greenfield, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at her home. Memorial services for Mrs. Buchholz were held Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 12:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield. Rev. Jerry Taylor officiated the services.
Mrs. Buchholz was a homemaker. She was born July 8, 1945 in Martin to the late E.B. Cherry and Lola Brown Cherry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buchholz was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Buchholz; eight brothers, E.B. Cherry, Jr., Chester Cherry, Garvin Cherry, Quitman Cherry, David Samuel Cherry, Billy Cherry, Robert Lee Cherry, and Calvin Cherry; and a sister, Katherine Cherry.
Mrs. Buchholz is survived by four sons, Brad Langley of Gleason, Bryan Langley of Greenfield, Roger Langley of Greenfield, and Duane Langley of Greenfield; five brothers, J.W. Cherry of Martin, Douglas Cherry of Ozark, Alabama, Euclie Cherry of Berkley, Illinois, Robert Jo Cherry of St. Petersburg, Illinois, and Russell Gene Cherry of Palmersville; two sisters, Nancy Walls of Humboldt, and Mary Jarmol Cherry of Chicago, Illinois; and twelve grandchildren, Brandon Langley, Lindsey Langley, Jacob Langley, Logan Langley, Sarah Langley, Coty Langley, Michael Langley, Casey Langley, Amanda Langley, Natalie Langley, Roger Langley, and Jonathon Wilson.
Edward H. Liss
Edward H. Liss, 85, of Dresden, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Graveside services for Mr. Liss were held Monday, April 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Father Joe Paolozzi officiated the services.
Mr. Liss was a retired Truck Driver for Yellow Freight Lines and a Catholic by faith. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Bernice Sckaczynski Liss. In addition to his parents, Mr. Liss was also preceded in death by his wife, Hilda "Jackie" Harris Liss.
Mr. Liss is survived by a stepson, Jimmy Long of Splendora, Texas; two nephews, Jerry Sukala of Washburn, Wisconsin, and Jimmy Sukala of Bensonville, Illinois; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Gladys Odell Sims
Gladys Odell Sims, 78, of Jackson, formerly of Greenfield, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Maplewood Health Care Center in Jackson. Graveside services for Mrs. Sims were held Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Hornbeak Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mrs. Sims was a retired Inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She was a Methodist by faith. Mrs. Sims was originally from Greenfield but had lived in Jackson for the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerrell Ray Sims
Mrs. Sims is survived by a daughter, Linda Brown of Jackson; two sons, Jerry Sims of Jackson, and Tommy Sims of Lexington; a sister, Betty Rittenberry of Dyer; two brothers, Horace Tillman of Milan, and Bill Tillman of Arkansas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ralph M. Gatewood
Ralph M. Gatewood, 80, of Dresden, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mr. Gatewood were held Friday, April 8, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Wesleys Chapel Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Mr. Gatewood was a retired Heating and Air Technician and a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. He was a member of the Dresden American Legion Post #94 and Jolley Springs Baptist Church in Dresden. Mr. Gatewood was born in Weakley County to the late Horace Wayne and Evelyn Alexander Gatewood. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gatewood was also preceded in death by his wife, Allie B. Anderson Gatewood; two sisters, Mary Glynn Davis and Nancy Carol Gatewood; and a brother, George W. Gatewood.
Mr. Gatewood is survived by three daughters, Brenda Doster of Dresden, Diania Spaulding of Senatobia, Mississippi, and Reba Montgomery of Palmersville; a son, Wendell Gatewood of Dresden; four sisters, Lillian Mosley of Dresden, Margaret Mansfield of Martin, Betty Taylor of Palmersville, and Nell Freeman of Bartlett, Tennessee; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bertie Nall Green
Bertie Nall Green, 91, of Martin, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Martin Health Care. Funeral services for Mrs. Green were held Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in Sharon. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Dr. Jerry Summers officiated the services.
Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She was born June 1, 1913 in Bradford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Green; two brothers, Felix and Lexie Baker; and one grandson, Bart Compton.
Mrs. Green is survived by two daughters, Betty Compton of Sharon, and Patty Vowell of Luling, Louisiana; three sisters, Louise Green of Dresden, Gertie Bell Mullins of Evanston, Illinois, and Vivian Russo of Chicago, Illinois; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Prince worked for WSW Manufacturing. She was born December 13, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois.
Mrs. Prince is survived by her husband, Terry Prince of Sharon; a daughter, Holli Prince of Sharon; a son, Terry Joe (TJ) Prince of Sharon; her mother, Bobbie Davis; four sisters, Sylvia Blakemore of Sharon, Micki Ferrell of Cordova, Roma Sims of Martin, and Robin Yarber of Sharon; a brother, Randy Yarber of Sharon; and two grandchildren, River Bryce Prince of Sharon, and Ty Drake Prince of Sharon.
Delma Norene Foster
Delma Norene Foster, 89, of Dresden, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Mrs. Foster was a retired employee of Bay Bee Shoe Company and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Dresden. She was a native of Henry County and the daughter of the late Charlie and Imelda Glasgow Tucker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foster was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. J.W. Foster.
Mrs. Foster is survived by two daughters, Reba Dunlap of Dresden, and Jean Tharp of Rogers, Texas; a son, David Foster of Belton, Texas; a brother, Charles Tucker of Royal Oaks, Michigan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mildred Nevil McDaniel
Mildred Nevil McDaniel, 89, of Dresden, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden. Mrs. McDaniel was a housewife and a member of Davis Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Dresden. She was born in Dyer County to the late Erbie and Versie Cribbs Nevil. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McDaniel was also preceded in death by her husband, J.C. "Buster" McDaniel; a son, Billy Ray McDaniel; and a granddaughter.
Mrs. McDaniel is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eula Mae Griffith of Palmersville, and Mrs. Linda Faye Cox of Casey, Kentucky; a sister, Willie Nevil Webb of Union City; four brothers, Melvin Nevil of Hudson, Kentucky, Wilburn Nevil of Grand Prairie, Texas, Elmer Nevil of Martin, and Thomas H. Nevil of Knox, Indiana; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Opal Mae Winstead Hatler
Opal Mae Winstead Hatler, 92, of Martin, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Hatler were held Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Church of Christ. Burial followed in Hatler's Chapel Cemetery in Martin. Bro. John Forgy officiated the services.
Mrs. Hatler owned and operated with her husband Hatler's Insurance Agency. She was a graduate of Dresden High School and a member of the Martin Church of Christ. Mrs. Hatler was born May 4, 1913 in Weakley County to the late Elbert Winstead and Lillie Bushart Winstead. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hatler was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Hatler, Sr.; and a brother, Harold Winstead.
Mrs. Hatler is survived by two sons, John Hatler of Dresden, and Fred J. Hatler, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee; a daughter, Robbie McCutchen of Medina; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Bobby Taylor Spain
Bobby Taylor Spain, 70, of McKenzie, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Spain were held Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens in McKenzie. Bro. Max Speight officiated the services.
Mr. Spain was co-owner of Spain Bro. Milling Co. and a former employee of Publix Shirt Factory. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. Mr. Spain was born September 24, 1934 in Milan to the late Ernest Manley Spain and Mary Frances Stewart Spain.
Mr. Spain is survived by his wife, Pat Edlin Spain of McKenzie; a son, Steve Spain of McKenzie; two daughters, Marsha (Jerry) Smith of Paris, and Carol Godwin of Gleason; five brothers, Joe Manley Spain of McKenzie, Gene Spain of Gleason, David Spain of Gleason, Jerry Spain of Gleason, and Freddy Spain of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Mary Ruth Suddath of Gleason; and seven grandchildren, Nick Smith, Sam Smith, Drew Spain, Taylor Spain, Landon Spain, Gus Godwin, and Grace Godwin.

Mr. Gallimore was a self-employed plumber and was a member of the Fire Department and the Rescue Squad. He was born June 10, 1937 in Tennessee. Mr. Gallimore was preceded in death by a son, Charles Timothy Gallimore; and a sister, Sue Mink.
Mr. Gallimore is survived by his wife, Dolores Gallimore of Sharon; his mother, Loretta Gallimore of Dresden; a daughter, Margarette Frazier of Dresden; a stepdaughter, Belinda Yoesel of Sharon; two sisters, Edna Huffstetler of Como, and Joanne Reynolds of Sharon; a stepson, Harvie Lee Burris, Jr. of Sharon; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
