Judson Ray Tilley
Judson Ray Tilley, 81, of Dresden, died Monday, September 12, 2005, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Funeral services for Mr. Tilley were held Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden. Bro. Tony Terrell and Bro. Joe Lusby officiated the services.
Mr. Tilley was a factory worker at Kellwood Industries and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Dresden. He was a native of Weakley County and the son of the late Thomas and Minnie Phillips Tilley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tilley was also preceded in death by his wives, Martha Louise Finnie and Mary Agnes Wiseman.
Mr. Tilley is survived by a daughter, Patricia Rial of Greenfield; a niece, Nancy Matlock of Dresden; two grandchildren, Kerry Rial and Jeff Rial; and two great-grandchildren.
Mayanne Simmons Richardson
Mayanne Simmons Richardson, 77, of Austin, Texas, died on Friday, September 16, 2005. She was born on May 17, 1928 in Dresden to Carlos H. and Lexie Dean Simmons. Mayanne served as an officer in the United States Marine Corp from 1951-1955. She was a member of Woodcliff Baptist Church in Austin.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Richardson; her mother, Lexie Dean Simmons; daughter, Jane Carpenter and husband Mark; son, Rich Richardson and wife Lori; daughter, Julia Swope and husband Mitchell; grandchildren, Anne Bullock, Becky and David Jackson, Jay and Clayton Swope, and Garin and Cody Richardson; and great-grandchildren, Lauran Bullock and Bethany and Samantha Jackson.
Her father preceded her in death.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2005 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel with Pastor David Lay officiating. Interment was at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Opal Farmer Phillippy
Opal Farmer Phillippy, 95, of Phillippy, Tennessee, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at her son's home in Fremont, Michigan. Graveside services for Mrs. Phillippy were held Saturday, September 17, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Tiptonville City Cemetery in Tiptonville. Rev. Mike Farmer officiated the services.
Mrs. Phillippy was a homemaker and member of Second Street Baptist Church in Memphis. She was born May 5, 1910 in Weakley County to the late Belvey Albert (B.A.) Farmer and Beulah Stanfill Farmer. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillippy was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. (Harry Lee) Phillippy; two brothers, Hulon Farmer and John Farmer; and a sister, Mildred Raines.
Mrs. Phillippy is survived by a daughter, Kristian (Susan) Phillippy of Fremont, Michigan; and a grandson, Andrew Charles Tyler Phillippy.
William Anthony (Tony) Cooley
William Anthony (Tony) Cooley, 59, of Camden died Saturday, September 17, 2005, at Sulfur Creek outside of Big Sandy. Services for Mr. Cooley were held Monday, September 19, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stockdale Malin Funeral Home Chapel in Big Sandy. Interment was in the Farmer Cemetery in Harmons Creek. Bro. Jimmy Nolen and Bro. Steven Townsend officiated the services.
Mr. Cooley was a Carpenter and was also known as the Mayor of Harmons Creek. He was born March 7, 1946. Mr. Cooley was a Veteran.
Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his father, William Hershell Cooley; a son, John David Cooley and a brother, Ronnie Lynn Cooley.
Mr. Cooley is survived by his wife, Vicki Ward Cooley; his mother, Dorothy Melton Cooley Cornett; a daughter, Heather Thrower of Springville; three sons, Mark Cooley of Union City who serves as officer in charge of the Dresden Post Office; Joshua French of Camden and Zachary Wofford of Camden and six grandchildren.
Darnell (Don) J. Bufkin
Darnell (Don) J. Bufkin, 52, of Martin, died Thursday, September 15, 2005, at St. Louis University Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Bufkin were held Tuesday, September 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial followed in Palmer Cemetery in Martin. Ted Wade officiated the services.
Mr. Bufkin was a forklift driver at MTD. He was born February 26, 1953 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, E.J. Bufkin, Jr.
Mr. Bufkin is survived by his wife, Georgia M. Bufkin of Martin; his mother, Maggie Lee James of Martin; a stepson, Anson Couch of Martin; and a brother, Andrew Bufkin of Milan.
Geneva Nanney
Geneva Nanney, 82, of Milan, died Saturday, September 17, 2005, at Milan General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Nanney were held Monday, September 19, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan. Burial followed in Grove Hill Cemetery near Dresden.
Mrs. Nanney was a retired hairdresser with Kathleen's Beauty Room. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milan, a member of the B&PW Club where she was a former Woman of the Year, and former State President of the Tennessee Cosmetology Association. Mrs. Nanney was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nanney; and a brother, Harold Eugene Smith.
Mrs. Nanney is survived by a daughter, Janice Rhodes Smith and husband Robert of Leesburg, Georgia; a son, Ray Draper of Trezevant; a sister, Dorothy Smith Ogg of Martin; a brother, Carlos R. Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
James Henry Plunk
James Henry Plunk, 59, of Sharon, died Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Plunk were held Saturday, September 17, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church. Burial followed in Corinth Cemetery. Rev. Gerry Gallimore and Rev. Dayne Hawks officiated the services.
Mr. Plunk was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was born September 22, 1945 in McNairy County.
Mr. Plunk is survived by his wife, Trella Plunk of Sharon; a daughter, Christie Bostwick of Sharon; two sons, Marty Plunk of Sharon and Rusty Plunk of Sharon; three sisters, Erlene Cantrell of Martin, Leatrice Copeland of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Dorothy Leggins of Kingston, Tennessee; three brothers, Doyles Plunk of Martin, L.C. Plunk of Sharon, and Ronald Plunk of Martin; and seven grandchildren.
Mary Kathryn "Snooky" O'Brien
Mary Kathryn "Snooky" O'Brien, 49, Parrish, Florida, formerly of Martin, died September 11, 2005. She was born December 6, 1955 in Memphis. She was a graduate of UT-Martin.
Mary Crawford O'Brien is survived by her husband, Stephen O'Brien, and their 11-year-old son, Kevin O'Brien; her mother, Scyble Agent Crawford of Henry; her sister, Joan Crawford Pritchett (James) of Martin; her brother, Gerald Crawford (Cindy) of Florence, Alabama.
On April 19, 2005, Mary was preceded in death by her father, John B. Crawford, III, of McKenzie.
Natilene Ryan Miller
Natilene Ryan Miller, 101, of Martin, died Monday, September 12, 2005, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Miller were held Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin. Burial followed in East Side Cemetery in Martin. Rev. Roger S. Oldham officiated the services.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also a graduate of Hall Moody College. Mrs. Miller was born June 7, 1904 in Martin to the late Nathaniel H. Ryan and Alice Routon Ryan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude E. Miller; six brothers, Charlie Ryan, Tom Ryan, Jess Ryan, Harry Ryan, John Ryan, and Beckom Ryan; and four sisters, Sewell Coker, Mary Dawson, Sally Jones, and Nannie Lou Macklin.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter, Jane Miller of Martin.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2005, at Brown & Sons Funeral Home in Bradenton, Florida.
Berta P. Bryant
Graveside services for Berta P. Bryant, 96 were held Wednesday, December 21,2005 at Pisgah Cemetery with Rev. Steve Cavitt and Dr. Phillip Cook officiating, Mrs. Bryant, a homemaker, died Monday, December 19, at N.H.C. Healthcare in Milan, Tn.
Mrs. Bryant was born in Gibson County, November 22, 1909, daughter of the late Hall and Bessie Fesmire Pugh and had lived in Atwood most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Milan, Tn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert D. Bryant; a daughter, Gail B. Espey; a brother, Robert Pugh; and three sisters, Ruth Mays, Mary Leath and Grace Mitchell.
Mrs. Byrant is survived by a daughter, Gloria Mawyer; and two sisters, Jimma Pugh of Memphis, Tn. and Virgie Cole of Martin; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Denise Elizabeth Stafford
Denise Elizabeth Stafford, 42, of Gleason, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005. Services for Mrs. Stafford were held Friday, December 16, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gleason. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery. Rev. Keith Sumner and Rev. Mike Jeffers officiated the services. Gallimore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Stafford was a Housewife and was a Disabled Veteran from the Gulf War. She was born June 19, 1963 in Steele, Missouri to the late Bill and Joan Lyon Bolin. Mrs. Stafford died Tuesday in a housefire along with her husband, Joe Craig Stafford; her son, Samuel Colt Stafford and her daughter, Jeri Lynn Stafford.
Mrs. Stafford is survived by her son, Matt Stafford of Gleason; her foster parents, Sam and Daisy Whitener of Farmington, Missouri; eight brothers, Bill Heinen of Kennett, Missouri, John Heinen of Steele, Missouri, James Bolin of Springfield, Missouri, David Bolin of Gleason, Dan Bolin of Merced, California, Charley Bolin of Gleason, Ronnie Bolin of Greeneville, South Carolina and Eric Heinen of Steele, Missouri; and three sisters, Alma Lorch of Farmington, Missouri, Margaret Hawkains of Paducah, Kentucky and Phyllis Bolin of Cape Giradeau, Missouri.
Jeri Lynn Stafford
Jeri Lynn Stafford, 17, of Gleason, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005. Services for Jeri Lynn were held Friday, December 16, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gleason. Jeri Lynn was a 9th Grade Student at Gleason School. She was born November 6, 1988 in Martin. Jeri Lynn died Tuesday in a housefire along with her father, Joe Craig Stafford; her mother, Denise Elizabeth Bolin Stafford; and her brother, Samuel Colt Stafford.
Jeri Lynn is survived by a brother, Matt Stafford of Gleason; her grandmother, Shirley Stafford of Gleason; and her foster grandparents, Sam and Daisy Whitener of Farmington, Missouri.
Joe Craig Stafford

Mr. Stafford was a Mechanic for Gene Langley Ford in Humboldt. He was born March 1, 1967 in Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Macon Stafford. Mr. Stafford died Tuesday in a housefire along with his wife, Denise Elizabeth Stafford; his son, Samuel Colt Stafford and his daughter, Jeri Lynn Stafford.
Mr. Stafford is survived by a son, Matt Stafford of Gleason; his mother, Shirley Sue Cunningham Stafford of Gleason; and his brother, Mark Stafford of Gleason.

Colt was a 3rd Grade Student at Gleason School. He was born March 15, 1996 in McKenzie. Colt died Tuesday in a housefire along with his father, Joe Craig Stafford; his mother, Denise Elizabeth Bolin Stafford; and his sister, Jeri Lynn Stafford.
Colt is survived by a brother, Matt Stafford of Gleason; his grandmother, Shirley Stafford of Gleason; and his foster grandparents, Sam and Daisy Whitener of Farmington, Missouri.
Mrs. Ellen Louise Rudd Terrell Prince
Mrs. Ellen Louise Rudd Terrell Prince, 99, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Graveside services for Mrs. Prince were held Thursday, December 15, 2005, at 12:00 noon at the East Side Cemetery with burial following. Rev. Matt Brown officiated the services. Mrs. Prince was a Homemaker. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She was born September 13, 1906 to the late Thomas Rudd and Bertha Melton Rudd. In addition to her parents Mrs. Prince was preceded in death by her husbands, Russell N. Terrell and Silas Ruben Prince.
Mrs. Prince is survived by a son John (Trish) Terrell of San Jacinto, California; two daughters, Mary Musson of Northridge, California and Golden N. (Rollo) Kuebler of Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Mrs. Mary Alice Moss Newton
Mrs. Mary Alice Moss Newton, 70, of Martin, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the Martin Health Care Center. Graveside memorial services were held today, Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gardner Cemetery in Martin with burial following. Rev. Gerry Gallimore officiated the services. Murphy Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Newton was retired from Martin Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church and a graduate of Rives High School. Mrs. Newton was born October 14, 1935. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Moss.
Mrs. Newton is survived by her husband, James C. Newton of Martin; a son, Jason Newton of Martin; a daughter Heather Mansfield of Martin; her mother, Nora Reese Moss of Union City; a brother, Jerry Moss of Union City; a sister, Martha Powell of Nashville; and four grandchildren, Kendall Newton, Colton Newton, Heath Mansfield and Christopher Mansfield all of Martin.
Valda C. Morris Jones
Valda C. Morris Jones, 83, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Dresden, died Saturday, December 17, 2005. Burial was in the Eastlawn Palm Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
Valda was proceeded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Jones; a grandson, David Lee Jones; two sisters, Dassie V. Morris and Hester Killingsworth; and her parents, Jennie Eva and Harvey Morris.
Valda is survived by her children, Carroll Jene Krix, Joe Lee Jones and Eva Bennett; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren all of Tucson, Arizona; two brothers, Jesse Morris and Edward Morris; and many nieces and nephews of Tennessee.
Charles R. Ford
Charles R. Ford, 79, of Dukedom, died Tuesday, December 13, 2005, at the Murray Calloway County Hospital. Services for Mr. Ford were held Thursday, December 15, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Dukedom. Burial was in the Good Springs Cemetery in Dukedom. Rev. Rick Walker officiated the services.
Mr. Ford was a retired Master Mechanic for General Motors where he worked for 35 years in Warren, Michigan. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union. He was a US Army Veteran serving in World War II. He live in Warren, Michigan from 1950 until 1983 when he moved back to the Dukedom area. Mr. Ford was born January 9, 1926 in Weakley County to the late Bessie (Bennett) and Stanley Ford. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ford was preceded in death by a brother, Harold B. Ford.
Mr. Ford is survived by his wife, Glenda (Carr) Ford of Dukedom whom he married on December 23, 1950; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dale Hennessee of Dunlap; three grandchildren, Alisha Hennessee and Chad Hennessee both of Chattanooga and Blake Hennessee of Dunlap; and a nephew, Glynn Bennett and wife, Marenna of Dukedom.
Earnest Houston Boane
Earnest Houston Boane, 82, of Gleason, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris. Services for Mr. Boane were held Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. Rev. Bob Copeland officiated the services.
Mr. Boane was a retired Livestock Technician. He was a WWII Veteran. Mr. Boane was born April 14, 1923 to the late Jodie and Rosie (Mosley) Boane.
Mr. Boane is survived by his wife, Loville (Johnson) Boane; two sons, Duane Boane of Gleason and Terry Boane of McKenzie; two daughters, Carolyn Needham of Gleason and Judy Brown of Mansfield; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hilda McKernon Hall
Mrs. Hilda McKernon Hall, 83, of Martin, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, at the Van Ayer Manor Nursing Home in Martin. Graveside services for Mrs. Hall were held Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at the East Side Cemetery in Martin with burial following. Larry Kendrick officiated the services. Murphy Funeral was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Hall formerly worked at the University of Tennessee at Martin, Fuller Henry, Maloan Insurance Agency and retired from Union City Insurance Agency. She was a Methodist. Mrs. Hall was born August 18, 1922 in Hickman, Kentucky to the late Joe H. McKernon and Ida Bell Crider.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Mr. Billy Todd Hall of Martin; a son, Larry Anderson of Madison, Wisconsin; two daughters Stephanie Hall of Martin and Elaine Robinson of Fayetteville; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Annie Lee Pannel
Annie Lee Pannel, 93, of Dresden, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Pannel were held Friday, February 10, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel in Dresden. Burial followed in Eastview Cemetery in Union City. Dr. Don McCulley officiated the services.
Mrs. Pannel was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dresden. She was a native of Humphreys County and the daughter of the late Starling and Alice Jane Murray Miller. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pannel was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Albert T. Pannel; six brothers; and five sisters.
Mrs. Pannel is survived by a daughter, Alice Ann Cotton of South Fulton; a brother, Max Miller of Union City; one grandchild, Joann Cotton Goodlow of Maumelle, Arkansas; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Alexa Goodlow of Maumelle, Arkansas.
