Wesley Powers, 68, of Halls, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 at his residence.
He was a self-employed retailer and a member of Independent Free Holiness Church in Dyersburg.

Services were at 10 a.m. Nov. 4 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Smith and the Rev. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.

Mildred E. O'Malley
Monday, November 11, 2002

Mildred E. O'Malley, 77, of Oswego, N.Y., died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002.
A graduate of Dyersburg High School, she was a member of the Women's Air Corps during the Korean War. She worked for the Oswego Palladium-Times for 27 years and later worked in the admissions office at SUNY in Oswego. She retired in 1990.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Oswego Center United Methodist Church, where she was an active member.

Lloyd "Dick" Lillard, 77, of Dyer died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at the Gibson General Hospital in Trenton.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Karnes and Son Funeral Home in Dyer. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery.

Pauline 'Polly' Howard
Monday, November 11, 2002

Pauline "Polly" Howard, 77, of Trenton, formerly of Tiptonville, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
She was a retired seamstress for Kellwood Manufacturing and a Baptist.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Rev. David Gray will officiate.

Floyd Allen Cotham
Monday, November 11, 2002

Floyd Allen Cotham, 85, of Dyersburg died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Methodist Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital.
A retired worker from Turner's Dairy in Humboldt, he was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a Shriner in Lodge No. 198 and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 100.

Services were at Halls Funeral Home Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery in Friendship.

R. D. Cogdell

R. D. Cogdell, 90, of Dyersburg died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Oakwood Community Living Center.
A retired worker from Dyersburg Fabrics after 35 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of East Dyersburg Methodist Church and a former member of the Dyersburg Men's Bowling Association.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday in the Dyersburg Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Friendship Cemetery. The Rev. Earl Dickerson will officiate.

Geneva Lanier Burkeen
Monday, November 11, 2002

Geneva Lanier Burkeen, 89, of Newbern died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at Methodist Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital.
The widow of James E. "Hunty" Burkeen, she was a retired employee of the old City Market Grocery Store in Newbern, a member of the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. She received a certificate from President George Bush for the 1,000 Points of Light Program for her volunteer efforts in the community.

Services will take place Monday at 2 p.m. at the Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Rev. George Butler will officiate. Visitation will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

 Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lois Marie Brady, 74, of Tiptonville died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Reelfoot Manor Nursing Center.
A retired seamstress for H.I.S. of Tiptonville, she was a member of the  Jones Chapel Church of Christ.

Services will take place Monday at 1 p.m. at the  Jones Chapel Church of Christ with visitation today beginning at 5:30 p.m. Brother Lonnie Grady will officiate. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jennifer Danielle Wright, 21, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at Methodist Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Phipps and the Rev. Rich Evans officiating. Burial will be in Archers Chapel Cemetery in Halls.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruby Owens Price, 92, of Lindstrom, Minn., formerly of Dyersburg, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at Margaret S. Parmley Nursing Residence.
She was a hairdresser, a member of Lake Road Church of Christ and Dyersburg-Dyer County Senior Citizens Club.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Alex Ogden officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Hattie Lee Tarver McClain, 93, of Tiptonville, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at Ridgely Care & Rehabilitation.
She was a retired owner of McClain's Grocery and a member of Tiptonville First Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tiptonville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Andy Martin officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the Tiptonville chapel of J.W. Curry and Son Funeral Home.

She was a retired elementary school teacher for Memphis City Schools, a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma-Alpha Lambda Chapter Teacher's Sorority and les Bon Amis Garden Club.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville.

Charles Anthony "Tony" Blalock, 57, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Nov 10, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center-Burn Unit in Memphis.
He was a self-employed decorator, attended Three Oaks Chapel Baptist Church, served in the Tennessee National Guard and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Bill Phipps officiating.

The family will receive visitors at 5:30 p.m. today at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

He was a retired employee of Sylvania and Republic Builders, a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a Korean War veteran.

He was a barber and a former commander of Disabled American Veterans.

James Edward Bailey, 76, of Humboldt, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 at Humboldt General Hospital.
He was a truck driver, World War II Navy veteran, Korean War Army veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW Organization.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Ridgecrest Cemetery. Friendship Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donell Fields, 51, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was a domestic worker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hopewell Baptist Church in Friendship with the Rev. Carl Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Williams Chapel Church Cemetery in Friendship.

The family will receive visitors at 6-8 p.m. Friday at H.H. Hudson Funeral Home.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Fields of Memphis and Mira Adams of Taylor, Mich.; three sons, Lamont Roberts and Maurice Adams, both of Detroit, Mich. and Derrick Fields of Union City; two sisters, Dorothy Fields of Friendship and Arnita Battle of Milwaukee, Wis.; a brother, James Fields of Dyersburg; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Battle, Laudell Fields, Otis Blakemore, James Fields, Calvin Fields and Tony Walker.

Johnny "J.C." Cartwright, 81, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at his residence.
He was a retired employee of GTE Sylvania and Republic Builders, a member of Crockett's Chapel Methodist Church, Woodmen of the World, American Legion and was in the 7th Infantry Division in World War II.

Services were at 1 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Tiptonville chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Gunter officiating. Burial was in Haynes Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife, Sally K. Carwright of Tiptonville; a daughter, Gayanne C. Williams of Tiptonville; a brother, Jack Cartwright of Dyersburg; and two grandchildren, Meredith Williams and Leslie Williams.

He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Brent Cartwright; his parents, William Clayton and Iva Mae Campbell Cartwright; and a grandson, John Erwin Williams.

Pallbearers were be Greg Cartwright, Paul Cartwright, Joel Carwright, Larry McCain, Eric Byrd, Brian Bryd, Greg Williams and Craig Williams.

Roy Douglas 'Daddy Doug' Carroll

Roy Douglas "Daddy Doug" Carroll, 85, of Bogota, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at his residence.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Bogota Church of Christ.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bogota Church of Christ with Brother John H. Robinson and Brother Glen Burse officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors at 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Sue "Mamma Sue" Carroll of Bogota; a daughter, Dolores Pleasant; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry L. Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Tony Childress, Wally Childress, Doug Singleteary, Drew Ross, Dale Singleteary and Todd Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Kerry Smith.
