Mary Sue Wisener Ballard, 88, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Obion County, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2002, in Sun City West.
She was an inspector for A.B. Dick Company in Chicago for 30 years.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in Obion County.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gladys Orene Efird

Gladys Orene Efird, 94, of Dyersburg, formerly of Memphis, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Wesley at Dyersburg Nursing Care.
She was a retied plant supervisor with General Electric after 30 years and a Baptist.

Services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Forest Hill Funeral Homes and Cemeteries Midtown in Memphis. Burial was at Forest Hill Midtown.

Laura Belle Anderson Ellis, 27, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002 at Methodist Healthcare-Haywood in Brownsville. She was a licensed practical nurse for Oakwood Manor, a member of First United Methodist Church, salutatorian of her nursing class, and very active in Girl Scouting and Young Life. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Cox officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. The family will receive visitors at 5:30-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jasper Baker Miller, 85, of Tigrett, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at his residence. A retired farmer, he was the son of the late Tom Miller and the late Esther Baker Miller. He was a member of the Dyersburg Moose Lodge, the Farm Bureau and served on the Dyer County School Board for 17 years. Services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of  Johnson Funeral Home and burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Rev. Jim Griffith and Rev. Frank Gardner will officiate.

Callie Lucille Anderson Bunn Lewis, 78, of Memphis, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at Baptist East Hospital. She was a homemaker, a member of Elon Baptist Church in the Double Bridges Community in Lauderdale County, named to the Commanders Club in 2001 by the D.A.V. and was a longtime supporter of veteran causes and received several commendations from the Help Hospitalized Veterans Organization. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Peck officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lurline C. Lewellyng, 87, of Noblesville, Ind., formerly of Newbern, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at the Riverwalk Nursing Home in Noblesville. A retired employee of the U.S. General Accounting Office, she was a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church, the Newbern Garden Club and the Newbern Depot committee that was responsible for the restoration of the old railroad depot and having it listed with the Historical Registry. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of  Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. George Butler will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern. Visitation will take place Sunday evening between 4 and 7 p.m.

Peggy Fern Ball, 68, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was a retired hostess for Plaza Restaurant and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Friendship Funeral Home. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Max Ball of Dyersburg; a daughter, Tanya Stingley of Brighton; two sons, Kurt Ball of Dyersburg and David Ball of Belleville, Mich.; two brothers, Lloyd Latham of Lexington and Gene Latham of Rockport, Texas; four grandchildren, Jeremy Sanford, Jarrod Sanford, Tess Ball and Levi Ball; three step-grandchildren, Scott Stingley, Vicki Griffith and Katie Stingley; and three great-grandchildren, Keegan Davidson, Haleigh Griffith and Aubrey Stingley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lexton and Lurline  Jones Latham; a brother, David Latham; and a grandson, Shawn Sanford.

Services were at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 at Friendship Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Grimsley and the Rev. Garvin Alfter officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery in Friendship.

She was retired co-owner and office assistant for Lawrence Animal Clinic, a member of First United Methodist Church and Alma Potts Sunday School Class, Elizabeth Circle, volunteer Pink Lady at Methodist Hospital-Dyersburg where she received a Pink Lady of The Year Award and recognized with a 3,000 hour volunteer work pin.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Philip Cook officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors at 11 a.m.- 3p.m. today at funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Lachanda Perry of Jackson; and two sisters, Geraldine Harris of  Jackson and Yolanda Perry of Nashville.

Pallbearers will be Terry Perry, Rodney Perry, Robert Perry and Marion Sain.
