DETROIT, MI-Lottie McLemore, 98, died March 15, in Taylor, Michigan. Services were March 21, at Detroit Memorial Park East with Rev. John T. Thorn officiating. She was a member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Birdie Robinson and her brothers, James Parr (Counsel) and Willie Parr (Duke). She leaves many nieces and nephews. Perry Funeral Home had charge.

Virginia Jenkins
MILAN-Virginia Jo Ray Jenkins, 76, retired ITT Telecommunications employee, died Saturday at Jackson General Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Double Springs Cemetery. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church, where she was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School class and a former Junior Boys Sunday School class teacher. Mrs. Jenkins, the wife of Earl T. Jenkins, also leaves two daughters, Nancy Bartholomew and husband Randy and Sarah Robbins and husband Robin, all of Milan; four sisters, Joy Hampton of Hollow Rock, Jean McClure of Pekin, IL, Shirley Caudle of Greenfield and Linda Ross of Huntingdon, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Ann Jenkins and a brother, John Thomas Ray.

Homer Hardy
HUNTINGDON-Homer Roosevelt Hardy, 86, died Thursday at Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Services were Saturday at Clarksburg Church of Christ with interment in Sellers Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hardy was born May 24, 1919 in Carroll County, TN to the late Thomas Hardy and Ida (Tosh) Hardy. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Clarksburg Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by four sisters, four brothers, two granddaughters, Tammy Beasley and Misty Beasley, and a son-in-law, Travis Carroll. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Hardy; four daughters, Barbara Perry (Gene) of Huntingdon, Bonnie Parrish of Jackson, Brenda Beasley (Billy) and Betty Carroll, both of Camden; three sons, Bobby Hardy (Janie) and Benny Hardy, both of Huntingdon and Billy Hardy (Donna) of Milan; a brother, Elihue Hardy of Huntingdon. Chase Funeral Home was in charge.

Funeral services for Mildred J. “Jerri” Acree were held Thursday at Ashby Funeral Home with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Acree, of the Avilla community died Monday, April 24. She was born March 17, 1925 in Gibson County and was owner of Avilla Mercantile and a member of Northside Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas and Lidia May Miller; her husband, James Richard Acree, Sr.; and a brother, James Charles Miller. Surviving are a son, Jim Acree and wife, Linda, of Avilla; a daughter, Cathy Acree of Avilla; two sisters, Barbara Ann Cole and husband, Harris, of Humboldt and Dorothy Weatherly and husband, Jodie of Alhambra, CA; two grandchildren, Susan Burton and Joey Acree, both of Avilla; and two great-grandchildren.

MEDINA-Graveside services for Lucille Kirk Barnes, 97, were Saturday at Lavinia United Methodist Church Cemetery. Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home had charge. Mrs. Barnes, a homemaker, died Friday at Jackson General Hospital. She was born in Milan, daughter of the late Riley and Mary Pickens Kirk and was educated in the local schools. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Henderson. She was preceded in death by four children, B.L. Barnes, Travis Barnes, Bobby Barnes and Billy Lee Barnes. Surviving are three daughters, Pauline Boles and Martha Howell, both of Jackson and Jo Ann Tourville of Winfield, MO; three sons, Earon Barnes of St. Louis, MO, Robbie Barnes of Tampa, FL and Larry Barnes of Jackson; 27 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret Wilson
MEDINA-Funeral services for Margaret Louise Wilson, 93, were Sunday at Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home with burial in Lathams Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Wilson died Thursday at Jackson General Hospital. She was born in Monroe County, MS daughter of the late Walter and Carrie Howell Owens. Mrs. Wilson was a member of First Methodist Church of Prairie, MS and was a retired cosmetology instructor with Vaughn School of Beauty. She moved to Medina to make her home in 1971. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, William Hershel Wilson. Survivors include three daughters, Ann Hatley of Arlington, Peggy and husband Leland Herriman of Jackson and Cathy and husband Danny Seat of Carrollton, KY; three sons, Gene Hershel Wilson of Medina, Jimmy and wife Linda Wilson of Jackson and Johnny and wife Linda Wilson of Alamo; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Ray Woods
MILAN-Mr. Audie Ray Woods, former Milan businessman, passed away Wednesday, October 11, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a short illness. He was 80 years old. Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Billie Moore Woods in August 1999. He was the son of Elco and Lillie Solomon Woods of the Chesterfield Community in Henderson County. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Guy, Elston and Herman Woods; and sisters, Lerlie Powers and Ruby Duke. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, as well as various civic positions including Milan alderman, board member of the Milan Public Utilities and Chairman of the Milan Police Committee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #191. He attended First United Methodist Church in Milan. Survivors include two siblings, Jewel Dean Lindsey of Myrtle Beach, SC and Odell Woods of Memphis; a daughter, Jane Nason and husband Mike of Bartlett, and a son, Jack Woods and wife Carol of Milan. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amanda Lemonds and husband Jay of Hernando, MS, Matt Nason of Atlanta, GA, Allen and Jonathan Nason of Bartlett; and great-grandchildren, Karis and Brayden Lemonds of Hernando, MS and his fiance, Nancy Tharp of Milan. Services were Sunday at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Centerville Cemetery near Milan. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

MILAN-William H. “Bill” DeTie, 82, retired machinist for McQuay Norris Inc. in St. Louis, MO, died Thursday at the TN State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt. Graveside services were Sunday at Pratt Cemetery. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4780. Mr. DeTie, the widower of Wanda DeTie, leaves a son, Miles W. DeTie of Lavinia; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a companion, Illene Cole of Milan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Ann Wills.

Margaret E. Carter, 77, died Sunday morning at her home in Milan. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at George A. Smith Funeral Home in Jackson in the North Chapel. Ms. Carter is retired from Wilson’s Sporting Goods and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Milan. She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Keith Carter and Monte Lee Carter, and her husband, John T. Carter. Survivors are her son, Tim Carter and wife Nancy of Milan, a special grandson, Alex Carter, and a granddaughter, Melissa Lynn Carter, and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bell, the husband of Cheryl Bell, also leaves two sons, Steven Allen (Paula) Bell of Greenfield and James Ronald (Jennifer) Bell of Atwood; a daughter, Tonya Renee Castro, two brothers, Charles Richard Bell and Jerry Dean Bell and a sister, Donna Karon Scarbrough, all of Humboldt; a step-son, David Butler of Milan; two step-daughters, Kathy Pollard of AL and Dawnna Reece of Denmark, 5 grandchildren and 9 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tela Bell.

GREENFIELD-Harold Gene Rogers, 79, retired farmer and former owner operator of the Bradford Cushion Company, died Wednesday. He was born October 9, 1927. Services were Saturday at Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield. Mr. Rogers served in the Army from 1954-1955. He is survived by his wife Wylodean Bruff Rogers and a niece, Phyllis Huggins, both of Greenfield. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred Rogers and Grace Rogers; his step-mother, Ruby Garrison Hailey and a sister, Margie Flippin.

Marie Jones
TRENTON-Funeral services for Marie Jones, 96, were Sunday at Shelton Funeral Home with burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Jones, a homemaker, played on the Lambuth University basketball team in 1928-29, she held the record for most points scored in a single game, 38 points, until it was broken in 1994, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Trenton. Mrs. Jones passed away Friday at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryals “Jack” Jones and a brother, James Harold Queen. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Nell Butler of Union City and Barbara Carr of Trenton; a sister, Nell Taylor of Trenton; six grandchildren, Debbie Tate, Terry Walker, Craig Butler, Jeff Carr, Carla Birmingham, and Kavin Carr and 11 great-grandchildren.
