Kenneth B. Hart, 71, of Lake Station, Ind., formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at his residence.
He was a retired foreman for U.S. Steel, a maintenance employee at the Hobart Family YMCA in Hobart, Ind., a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ.
Services were Monday at Rees Funeral Home in Portage, Ind., with the Rev. Gordon Small officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Portage.

He was a retired assistant Vice President of Pilot Life Insurance Company, a commercial real estate appraiser, graduate of Dyersburg High School, and a Army veteran of World War II receiving a Bronze star and a Purple Heart.
A military service was held at 11 a.m. Feb. 11 at Our Lad of Grace Church. Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Chapel Funeral Home in Greensboro, N.C. was in charge.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Martha Woodside Knox; two daughters, Martha Knox Calabria and husband, Beau, of Greensboro, N.C. and Barbara Knox Eschard of Houston, Texas; a son, Vincent E. Knox Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Winterville, Va.; a sister, Florence Knox of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Matthew Echard and Mitchell Echard, both of Houston, Texas, Brandilyn Knox and Sherilyn Knox, both of Winterville, N.C.; and a stepgrandchild, Brandon Lee of Greenville, S.C.

Katherine Johnson Hoffhaus, 90, of Florence, Ala., a native of Dyersburg, formerly of Hartselle, Ala., died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at her home.
She was a schoolteacher and a homemaker. She managed her husband's newspaper, the Lake County Banner in Tiptonville, during his years of overseas service in World War II. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church until moving to Florence in 1993 where she joined the First Christian Church. While living in Hartsville, she was church librarian, an active member of the Groover Sunday school class and often opened her home to visiting evangelists and lay people. She belonged to the current-review club, was an avid music and book lover and an artist who shared her gift of painting with others.
Pallbearers will be Ben Crane, Dr. Brad DeGroote, Fred Boone, Alton Bartlett, Allyn Crane and Sam Minor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to First Christian Church of Florence, Hartselle First United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Shoals and the Children's Museum of Florence.
