LAUDERDALE COUNTY, TENNESSEE DEATH NOTICES FROM 2003

Beason, Goldie Jerlene "Geri", 58, of Maynardville, died Feb. 9 at St. Mary’s. She was a member of Oaks Chapel American Christian Church and a retired employee of Levi Strauss. Cooke Mortuary.

Berkley, Mary R., 85, of Knoxville, died Feb. 13 at St. Mary’s. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Episcopal, and was retired from Knox County Juvenile Court. Rose Mortuary.

Brogan, Gilberta M., 84, of Knoxville, died Feb. 15. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home.

Brothers, Margaret Ruth Lynn "Rynn" Harbinson, 79, of Halls, died Feb. 16. She was a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church and also a member of the Knoxville Women’s Aglow Fellowship. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, retired USAF Col. James T. Brothers; son, James T. Brothers, son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence D. and Kathryn L. Brothers; daughter and son-in-law, Susan K. and John Holly; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. and Launa M. Brothers; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Laverne Scott and several nieces and nephews. Mynatt’s.

Carr, Gusta Williams, 89, of Powell, died Feb. 13 at St. Mary’s. Stevens Mortuary.

Chumley, Tim, 40, of Maynardville, died Jan. 31 at the Claiborne County Hospital. He was a member of Blairs Creek Baptist Church. Coffey Funeral Home.

DeLapp, Mabel Crafton, 83, of Fountain City, died Feb. 8 at St. Mary’s. She was an active member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and was retired from Winn-Dixie. Gentry-Griffey.

Edmondson, Irene, 80, of Luttrell, died Feb. 9 at Sunbridge of Maynardville. She was a member of Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

Freeman, Alpha Marie, 84, of Powell, died Feb. 15. Mynatt’s.

Grubbs, Viola "Ruth" Flannagan, 83, of Powell, died Feb. 17. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, the Rev. Walter Grubbs. Weaver Funeral Home.

Hamilton, Jewel W. Treece, 80, of Knoxville, died Feb. 11 at Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Stonewall Baptist Church and enjoyed gospel music. Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

Hatfield, Betty Ruth Kitts, 74, of Knoxville, died Feb. 15 at her home. She was born in Union County and attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Cooke Mortuary.

Holt, Debbie McCoy, 43, of Halls, died Feb. 14 at St. Mary’s of complications of leukemia. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and was a former real estate agent. Most recently she was community manager of Northridge Estates, a Jim Clayton community. She was affiliated with McCoy Motor Co. She leaves two daughters, Danielle and Amy Holt; son, Dustin Holt, all of Halls; parents, Babe and E.G. McCoy. Stevens Mortuary.

Jones, Harry J., 81, died Feb. 12. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church for 64 years and was a retired plant superintendent for TVA. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne M. Jones, and others. Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

Monroe, Irene A., 82, formerly of Fountain City, died Feb. 14 in Vicsburg, Miss. She was formerly an active member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. She taught at Ritta School for 20 years before retiring. Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

Perryman, Nadine Lou Smith, 69, formerly of Corryton, died Feb. 15 in Marietta, Ga. Mynatt’s.

Putbrese, Carol Jean Booher, 56, of Maynardville, died Feb. 9 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Cooke Mortuary.

Riffey, Donald Eugene, 41, of Knoxville, died Feb. 16 at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Free Worship Baptist Church. Berry Funeral Home.

Shell, Marie Gray, 89, of Maynardville, died Feb. 18. She was a member of Texas Valley Baptist Church. Mynatt’s.

Tudor, Kenneth E., 59, of Knoxville, died Feb. 17, at St. Mary’s. He was a ministerial servant of Northwest Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses and a retired employee of the state of Tennessee, Department of Agriculture. Mynatt’s.

Wallace, Josephine, 67, of New Tazewell, died Feb. 16 at her home. Claiborne County Funeral Home.

Williams, Mallie Louise, 81, of Washburn, died Feb. 18. She was a member of Emory Road Baptist Church. Cooke Mortuary.

Willis, Rebecca Little, 85, of Fountain City, died Jan. 19 at St. Mary’s. She was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church since 1954, Fontinalis Club and Fountain City Garden Club. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John M. Willis. Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

Zirkle, Philip A. Jr., of Knoxville, died Feb. 18. He was a retired plumber.

Gladys Bernice Wilmoth Branch, 54, of Knoxville, died May 26 at Ft. Sanders. She was a member of Blood Bought Full Gospel Church. Survivors include husband, Merle Branch; daughters and spouse, Brenda and Tim Dison, Linda Branch of Powell; two grandchildren. Mynatt Funeral Home.

Bill “Buddy” W. Brock, 63, of Heiskell, died May 25 at St. Mary’s. He was a Baptist, a retired plumber and a member of Fellowship Bass Club. Survivors include his wife, Mary Coulter Brock; son, Dennis Wayne Brock; daughters and spouses, Kimberly and John Evans, Angie and Dennis Merriman. Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
