Michael Lee Holbert, 49, died March 27 in Florida where he was undergoing testing for a lung transplant due to cystic fibrosis. He was a faithful member of Faithway Baptist Church and an ordained deacon. Elmer Reed "Weedy" Stout, 77, of Halls, died March 31. A Baptist, he was a well-known fiddle player with the Promenaders Band and the Blue Grass Boys, winning several awards at the Dogwood Arts Festival. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was retired from Container Corporation. Elbert "Tugie" Wyrick, 83, of Luttrell, died April 2 at his home. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and was retired from KUB. Erma Lee Bice, 84, of Wilmington, Del., formerly of Tennessee, died May 31 at the Wilmington Hospital. She was born in Union County, the third of six children born to William and Lucy Stanley. She attended a one-room school before graduating from Halls High School in 1934 at age 15. She left Tennessee to work for the DuPont Company, but always retained strong ties to her family here. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Harold C. Bice; two daughters, Carol Bice Shaw of Hockessin, Del., and Elizabeth Bice of Morristown, N.J.; son-in-law, Ben Shaw, three granddaughters and a sister-in-law, Iva Stanley of Halls. Charles F. Greene, 85, of Fountain City, died Aug. 9 at his home. He had been a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City for the past 45 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in four campaigns in the Solomon Islands during WWII. He was the owner/operator of Capri Dry Cleaners for 25 years. In August of 1941 he married
