Lucy G. Schumpert, 87, of Fountain City, died May 16 at St. Mary’s. She was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and the widow of T.O. Schumpert. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Fred Graves; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Charlotte Schumpert, R.B. and Susan Schumpert, all of Knoxville. Ray D. Allen, 72, died May 8 at home after a long struggle with cancer. He was born and raised in LaFollette and was a veteran of WWII. He was retired from Georgia Pacific in Hawthorne, Fla. Lena Baker, 86, of Maynardville, died May 5 at the Sunbridge Nursing Home. She was a Baptist and was preceded in death by her husband, Patton Baker. William Glenn Bolus, father of Gresham Middle School assistant principal Chuck Bolus, died May 3 at St. Mary’s. Mr. Bolus was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and was a veteran of WWII in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a graduate of ETSU with graduate work at UT, and was a retired newspaper reporter and writer. He was preceded in death by his son, William G. Bolus Jr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Bain Bolus; daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Hugh LaFollette; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Janet Bolus, Chuck and Sandy Bolus, and Roberta Bolus of Mt. Dr. Robert Edward "Bud" Dougherty, died May 2 at St. Mary’s. He was preceded in death by his wives, Bobbie Jean Fortner and Martha Eugenia Harger. He is survived by his wife, Virginia McFadden Dougherty; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Julie Wood Dougherty; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Stuart Bayne; mother, Evelyn Anthony Dougherty Deal. Donald C. Grahl Sr., 81, of Fountain City, died May 5 at NHC Knoxville. He was a member of Bright Hope Masonic Lodge and was a retired employee of the city of Knoxville. Joe Keller Jr., 78, of Knoxville, died May 3 at his home. He was a member of Old Beverly Baptist Church and was employed for many years at Fountain City Exxon and Sherman Concrete before his retirement.
