Newell A. Coward, 65, passed away June 19 at UT Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith. Warren William Jursik, 82, of Powell, died June 16 at St. Mary’s. Dr. Milton M. Klein, 86, retired professor of history and former UT historian, died June 10 at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice. He served in the Army Air Forces and remained in the Air Force Reserve until his retirement with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Amy Ruth Webster Massey, 90, of Fountain City, passed away June 18 at Hillcrest HealthCare. She had retired with the rank of Major with 20 years of service from the U.S. Air Force, Women’s Nurse Corps. She was the last surviving sibling of the 10 children of Sam and Linnie Webster. R. Frank Porter, 91, passed away June 16. He was the son of a minister in the Holston Methodist Episcopal Conference and joined the Holston Annual Conference himself in 1937. He received his master’s of divinity from Vanderbilt University School of Religion in 1944. He received his honorary Doctor of Divinity from Tennessee Wesleyan College. He was a Master Mason. In October 1948 he was appointed as pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, the “City Behind the Fence.” He was instrumental in the purchase of the first private property in Oak Ridge on which the current First United Methodist Church is now standing. He led building programs at several of the churches he served in the Holston Conference, including Fountain City United Methodist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Smith Porter; and brother, Steve Porter. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Sherry Porter; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Gass, Francis and O.T. Harmon; six grandchildren;

A member and ruling elder of Second Presbyterian Church, Dr. Burkhart practiced general medicine and family practice in Knoxville 1949-1994. Darnell Glisson, 65, passed away June 3 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was a native of Cochran, Ga., and faithful member of St. Johns Lutheran Church.
