LAUDERDALE COUNTY, TENNESSEE DEATH NOTICES FROM 2004

Kenneth Glen Hart, 62 of Philadelphia, Tenn., passed away Feb. 13 at Bradley Hospital. He was retired from the state of Tennessee Department of Transportation after 27 years. He was preceded in death by daughter Tammy. Survivors include wife of 42 years, Wanda Faye Hart; children and spouses: Callie and Jim Dodson, Christy Hart, Wendell and Shirley Hart, Steve and Tina Hart, Roger and Tracy Hart, Scott and Melisa Hart; 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers. John Arthur Heatherly Sr., 84, of Fountain City, passed away Feb. 12. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a longtime employee of House Hasson Hardware and retired from Knox Rail Salvage. He was a lifelong Republican. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Cora McBee Heatherly. Survivors include his brother, Eugene Heatherly; daughter and spouse, Sue and Dr. Galen Methvin; son and spouse, John and Nancy Heatherly; three grandchildren. Stevens Mortuary.

John Edward McConkey, 68, of south Knox, passed away Feb. 9 at UT Hospital. He was a member of Fellowship Church, Middlebrook Pike, and was owner/operator and chief pilot of Knoxville Flight Training Center at Downtown Island Airport. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include wife, Rebecca Duncan McConkey; children and spouses: Laury and Charles Hembree, John Edward II and Carrie Flynn McConkey; two grandsons; brother, Robert Creswell McConkey. Gene Autry McMillan II, 27, of Halls, passed away Feb. 12. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and attended Halls High School. Survivors include wife, Brandi Tidwell McMillan; parents, Gene and Tanna McMillan; brother, Kevin McMillan; sister, Janice Hall; grandmother, Stella McMillan; grandfather, Ronald Tolley. Ruben Ailor Stooksbury, 90, of Knoxville, passed away Feb. 7 at St. Mary’s. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stooksbury; grandson, Eric Stooksbury; brothers, Elbert and Graves Stooksbury. Jean S. Whitson, 86, of Norwood, passed away Feb. 9. She was the widow of Paul Gentry Whitson. Member of Inskip Baptist Church. Ernest Junior Woods, 76, passed away Feb. 8 at Northhaven Healthcare. He was a World War II veteran and was retired from Hallsdale-Powell Utility District. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ruth Daniels Woods; daughters and spouses, Diane and Larry McKeehan, Penny Furr, Debbie and Larry Moore, Jill and Jeff Treece; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Margaret L. Adkins, 76, of Knoxville, passed away Jan. 15 at home. She was a member of Son Light Baptist Church and a past president of the Grand Auxiliary of F.O.E. 2698. She was a member of V.F.W. Post 1733. preceded in death by sons, Ronnie, Jimmy and Lyle Adkins. Survivors include husband of 57 years, Paul Adkins; brothers, James Fox, Benny and Mark Perry; children and spouses, Glenda and Jerry Murray, Donnie and Nancy Adkins, Darrell and Nancy Seay Adkins, David Adkins; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Murle W. Brock, 88, passed away Jan. 12. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fountain City and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, the Rev. Marion C. Brock; sons and spouses, Michael and Beverly Brock, David and Angela Brock; six grandchildren; one great-grandson. The Rev. Melvin L. Cameron, 73, of Knoxville, died Jan. 15 at his home. He was a member and former pastor of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church. Leslie M. Ferris, 72, of Powell, passed away Jan. 13 at St. Mary’s. He retired from ORNL in 1993 after 38 years as R&D chemist/research manager. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, V. Otis E. Gray, 85, passed away Jan. 15. He was an active member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church for 52 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, teacher and in many other offices. He was a WWII Air Force veteran and a retired supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service. preceded in death by son, Gregory Gray.
